Yusif Basigi reappointed Black Princesses head coach days after his dismissal

The Hasmal former boss has been given back the position he lost few days ago following a lengthy meeting by Ghana FA top hierarchy

Former Sekondi Hasaacas head coach Yusif Basigi has been renamed the coach of Ghana’s female U20 team despite being sacked a fortnight ago in a mass clearance.

“The Ghana Football Association has named Yusif Basigi as head coach of the National U-20 female national team, the Black Princesses,” a GFA statement read.

“Imoro Amadu is the assistant coach with Emmanuel Kwesi Selassie as the Physical Trainer.

Other members of the technical team are as follows, Nassamu Yakubu – Goalkeepers Trainer, Dr. Mabel Aboah -Team doctor, Asabea Opare – Physiotherapist, Susie Djoleto – Team Masseur, Madam Evelyn Nsiah Asare – Welfare Manager and Genevieve Clottey – Equipment manager.

“The GFA has also named Eastern Regional FA Chairman Linford Asamoah as Chairman of the Black Princess Management Committee with Abena Brigidi as the Vice Chairperson.

Other members of the management committee are Yakubu Asamani, Christian Isaac Mensah and Linda Ansong.

Official: Tagoe renamed Black Queens coach under new Ghana FA regime

The country’s football governing body has named the tough skin woman as the head coach of the female senior national team despite being sacked a fortnight ago

Few weeks after the dissolution of all Ghana national teams’technical setup, former referee Mercy Tagoe has been renamed the Black Queens head coach, AshesGyamera.com can confirm.

The former player was on Tuesday given a fresh contract with new targets and will be ably assisted by Charles Anokye Frimpong.

“The Ghana Football Association has appointed Madam Mercy Efua Tagoe-Quarcoo as head coach of the senior national female team, the Black Queens,” a statement read.

“Madam Tagoe will be assisted by Charles Anokye Frimpong with Nana Sinasen as the Physical trainer.

Other members of the technical team are Raymond Fenny – Goalkeepers trainer, Dr. Caryn Agyeman Prempeh –  Team Doctor, Margaret Foli – Physiotherapist, Anita Wiredu Minta – Welfare manager, Patience Nana A.  Quarshie and Kusi Thomas – Equipment Managers.”

The statement added: “Meanwhile, Madam Habiba Attah will chair the Black Queens Management Committee with Mr. Kingsley Osei Bonsu as her vice chairman.

“Other members of the Committee are Naa Odofoley Nortey, Nana Fosu Gyeabour and Ama Brobbey Williams.

Frank Nuttall lands new deal in Botswana

The Phobians former boss has sealed a deal with the Rollers in Botswana

Former Hearts of Oak coach Frank Nuttal has joined Botswana Premier League side Twonship Rollers in an undisclosed years, AshesGyamera.com can confirm.

Nuttall who parted ways with the Phobians two seasons ago following disagreements on player transfers have been tasked to help Rollers to make a giant stride in the league.

GUSA Games 2020: UEW wins Twenty-Five medals in Athletics

The Power House of Ghana tertiary sports, University of Education, Winneba secures twenty-five medals in athletics.

UEW has won twenty-five medals in athletics in the ongoing Ghana Universities Sports Association games which is being staged in Legon, Accra.

The medals includes ten gold, nine silver and six bronze medals.

Notable ones which saw UEW to have made waves in the ongoing tourney was William Amponsah who shattered a record of 14:56:25 mins and 32:29 mins to set a record of 14:19:025 mins 29:53 mins in the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters respectively to win two gold medals.

Also, the quartet of Neenyi Akese Arthur, Prince Charles Frimpong, Israel Anane and Owusu Gad override a record of 3:11 mins to 3:09 mins in the men’s 4x400m and subsequently won gold.

Ghana FA closes Baba Yara Sports Stadium; Kotoko likely to be punished heavily

Ghana Football Association have temporarily closed the home ground of Asante Kotoko following the unfortunate incident that happened on Sunday.

After Kotoko’s 1-0 home defeat to Berekum Chelsea in Ghana Premier League, the club’s supporters allegedly charged on the referees and police started firing warning shots which one of the supporters was hit in the eye.

Although, the injured supporter is currently undergoing surgery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium will not host any of Kotoko’s games until further notice.

“Following incidents at the Baba Yara Stadium during Asante Kotoko’s Premier League match with Berekum Chelsea on Sunday, the GFA Executive Council has decided to temporarily ban Asante Kotoko from playing its matches at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium pending the adjudication of the matter by the GFA Disciplinary Committee,” a GFA statement read.

“The GFA Executive Council at its meeting on Monday, January 13, 2020, decided to trigger the provision of Article 14(2) of the GFA Premier League Regulations.

“Article 14 (2) of the GFA Premier League Regulations states that: “the GFA may order the closure of any league centre/venue where the safety of clubs, match officials and/or spectators cannot be guaranteed.”

“The GFA Prosecutor shall prefer charges against any person/party found to have breached any provision of the GFA Regulations or Disciplinary Code,” the statement added.

According to AshesGyamera.com’s sources, Kotoko may face up to eight home ban and fined heavily for their supporters wrongdoings.

Shooting of the Asante Kotoko fan at Baba Yara Sports Stadium; who is to be blamed?

The third day of 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League ended with a reported tragedy at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, where a fan was shot in the eye by a police officer, in a reported incident of post-match ambush on referee Charles Bulu.

I feel more provoked when I hear commentaries blaming the fans of Kotoko and the referee as well as his assistants only. In my view, there is a third party which is complicit in this whole shooting case and it is the Ghana Police team that wanted to immediately, whisk the referee away! The police are supposed to exercise tact and professionalism in the peculiar incident of stadium crowd management, as well as public safety; and in this Baba Yara Sports Stadium circumstance, they failed to do so, and someone must be touched within their group.

Why is our police so apprehensive, jittery and overly reactive at the little group or mass demonstration? Why? Many times, the Ghana Police is caught up in this lazy, carefree approach of shooting one to scare all, at the least charge of the crowd, even at the presence of an amour vehicle. Even when it’s only one noisy fan engaged in a misbehavior, you find them pulling him, hit butting him, kicking and slapping the person all over, for what?

In this tragedy, I ask:
-was the fan armed?
-was the crowd with ammunitions?

-If someone throws water at a referee or a police officer, should the police respond with bullets?

-Why did the police officer shoot at the eye of the fan, but not the leg if the intention of shooting was to disenable the supposedly aggressive fan?

-Why was the police in a hurry to pull the referee through, and drive him away immediately, couldn’t they have waited for the crowd to disperse before?

-Was the AK47 the only crowd management weapon/tool available, what about the hot water canon and the electric shock tools?

In any day, I will accuse the police of a poor, elementary and unprofessional conduct, and call on the police administration to institute an inquiry into the incident, and issue a public statement on its findings.

On the other side, the Ghana FA’s expression of displeasure should have also touched on the conduct of the police regarding the incident. The shooting was completely a thoughtless option, and that should be made clear!

The fans are those who patronize the products of the FA, league matches, FA Cup matches, and other competitions. If their lives are endangered in the market (the match venues) by the police, they stay home, the FA loses customers, and the wealth and the excitement we are struggling to build would be gone! Which parent will carry his family to a venue if our police continue to act with carelessness and impunity? Why won’t I go to the beach instead?

If the FA sees the fans as major partners, it should see this conduct of the police as an assault on its product, and call on the police to restrain and quickly re-train those who come to the stadium to watch football. If we indeed want to bring back the love and create wealth for all, then the police at our stadiums must buck-up.

Ghana FA condemns shooting in Kumasi, hints at dealing ruthlessly with Asante Kotoko

The football association has extended its kinds words to the young man who was shot in the eye at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday

Ghana Football Association has condemned the terrible incident which took place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday leading to firing of gunshots.

Following Asante Kotoko’s shocking 1-0 home defeat to Berekum Chelsea, the club’s supporters vehemently protested against referee Charles Bulu as they believed he was biased on the day.

As a result, the police present began firing warning shots to help calm nerves but one supporter was hit in the eye and was rushed to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching hospital for emergency treatment.

The FA has assured to stick to its rules and regulations and punish the club likely to be Kotoko which was wrong on the day to serve as a deterrent to others in the future.

“The Ghana Football Association has learnt with extreme disappointment the unfortunate incidents at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi during the Ghana Premier League match between Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea on Sunday,” a GFA statement read.

“We are saddened by reports of injuries to football fans and the hospitalization of a fan, following an alleged gun shooting incident. Our profound sympathy goes to the injured, and we pray for speedy recovery.

“The Ghana Football Association takes a dim view of violence at all league centres across the country and totally condemns what may have precipitated the unfortunate development at the Baba Yara Stadium.

“While we conduct our own inquest from our designated matchday officials to find out the exact cause of the unfortunate incidents, we call on the Police Service to also conduct thorough investigation, especially on the alleged shooting incident.

“The GFA wishes to assure the general public that it has zero tolerance for violence, and in accordance with our regulations, will deal ruthlessly with any official or club that is found to have breached our GFA Regulations and GFA Disciplinary Code. Once again, we wish the injured speedy recovery,” the statement added.

AshesGyamera.com understands that Kotoko could be handed a five-home game ban as well as fined for their supporters’ behaviour which brought the name of the sport into disrepute.

The supporter was hit with a bullet from the gun of a security officer on duty after his side lost at home on Sunday

A supporter believed to be Asante Kotoko fan was shot and badly wounded at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium following the Porcupine Warriors 1-0 home defeat to Berekum Chelsea in matchday three of Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

Kofi Owusu’s goal was enough to silence the home supporters who were looking for their third win in a row but that wasn’t even the blow that sent Kotoko supporters into protest.

Referee Charles Bulu mistakenly sent off Empem Dacosta after another Kotoko player had commit a foul and that led to a protest by the supporters.

Items including bottles and sachet water were thrown on to the pitch which brought the game to halt for almost ten minutes.

After final whistle, the supporters continued their protest and the security on ground started firing warning shots to disperse the irate supporters.

Unfortunately, one person was hit and left in to bleed since everyone was afraid of approaching where he was lying until few people gathered courage to pick and rush him to the hospital for treatment.

It is unclear what has happened to him upon arrival but AshesGyamera.com is still following the development and will keep you updated.

Hearts of Oak unveil signing of new midfielder to solve their problems

The Phobians have officially unveil the youngster after weeks of speculation about his future and he could make his how this weekend

Hearts of Oak have officially announced the signing of former Liberty Professionals midfielder Frederick Ansah Botchway in an undisclosed deal.

The youngster was spotted at the Phobians’ secretariat last week sparking speculations in the local media and although the club was mute about his future, he has signed a deal after passing his medical on Saturday.

With Edward Odoom’s side struggling to score a goal in two Ghana Premier League matches, Botchway is expected to help create chances for the forward liners. He could make his debut for the Hearts on Sunday when they welcome Ebusua Dwarfs at the Accra Sports Stadium.

“Hearts of Oak is delighted to announce the signing of former Liberty Professionals FC midfielder, Frederick Ansah Botchway,” a statement read.

According to reports in the media, Hearts are still in the market for a deadly striker after negotiations with former Asante Kotoko star Amed ‘Simba’ Toure fell through.

GUSA GAMES: UEW’s William Amponsah Wins Second Gold, Sets Another Record in the Men’s 10,000m

University of Education, Winneba athlete William Amponsah once again set another record in the men’s 10,000m.

William Amponsah who is already making waves in the ongoing Ghana Universities Sports Association Games in Legon, Accra has set another record in the men’s 10,000m race after he displayed a sublime performance in day three of the athletics championships.

The old record which was set by UCC’s Malik Yakubu two years ago was 32:29 mins before Amponsah shattered it and set a new one of 29:53 mins.

Amponsah, who doubles as a 5,000m and 10,000m runner, sets records in both events and he is so far the only athlete who has achieved such a feat currently.

UEW currently has 10 gold medals in athletics after day three hope’s to add more before the competition comes to end.
