The shot-stopper of the Premier League champions emerged as the overall goalkeeper at the awards night in London
Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has been adjudged as The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper of 2023 during an award night at Apollo Victoria Theatre in London on Monday.
The Brazilian shot-stopper was awarded the honour following a stellar campaign with City where he helped Pep Guardiola’s charges to make history by clinching a historic treble.
Manchester City won Premier League, FA Cup and added the prestigious Uefa Champions League by pipping Inter Milan 1-0 in the final to break the hearts of the Italian giants.
Ederson, now 30, was a pillar in post and made sure his area was always a safe ground for the Blues.
As a result, national team coaches and selected journalists across the world voted in numbers for him as he amassed 23 points, ahead of fellow finalists Thibaut Courtois (20 points) and Yassine Bounou (16 points).
Ederson boss Pep Guardiola was voted as the Men’s Coach of the Year while teammates Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernado Silva and Erling Haaland were also named in the Fifpro XI.
