The supporters were in a high spirit as they left Yaounde on Tuesday afternoon enroute to Garoua to cheer the Black Stars on to victory
A high powered Ghanaian supporters left Yaounde on Tuesday afternoon to Garoua to throw their weight behind the Black Stars ahead of the last game in Group C of 2021 Africa Cup of Nations against Comoros.
The Black Stars, who have suffered a slow start to the tournament, must grind results against the debutants in Garoua to progress despite missing some notable players.
After losing 1-0 on opening day against Morocco and sharing the spoils 1-1 with Gabon last week, Ghana must defeat Comoros at all cost to either finish as runners up or one of the four best third place teams in the tournament.
Although, the supporters were a little skeptical earlier as some raised concerns about the tactics and substitutions by coach Milovan Rajevac, the mood was later charged before they took off. The supporters were initially scheduled to travel by road for 18 hours but quick arrangements by African Origin Travel and Tours made it possible for them to go by a flight.
However, Ghana must do the job without some players including Kudus Mohammed who is not even in camp. The Ajax Amsterdam midfielder was named in the 28-man squad for the tournament but has failed to report due to injury concerns.
Although, Ghana’s technical team were optimistic he will recover on time to play part of the tournament, Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag has revealed that it will be strange for the youngster to arrive in Cameroon since he is still unfit.
Also, reports gathered by AshesGyamera indicate that striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom has been sidelined from the matchday squad although he is in camp and also not injured unlike Kudus. Our sources have revealed that the player has been punished on disciplinary grounds as he flouted some rules in camp
According to reports few hours before kick off, some deliberations are still ongoing to have the Beiter Jerusalem striker to be part since striker Benjamin Tetteh has been banned three games by CAF.
Interestingly, Real Tamale United midfielder David Abagna Sandan has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury concerns. The midfielder, who is yet to make his bow at the tournament, picked up a foot injury at training and it will take a miracle for him to feature for Ghana even if they progress from the group.
Moreover, Real Mallorca midfielder Baba Iddrisu is out of the game per our sources from the team’s camp. The box-to-box midfielder sat out of the Black Stars’ last training on Monday evening after failing to recover from the injury he sustained against Gabon on Friday. In his absence, Sherif Tilarspol midfielder Edmund Addo is expected to fill the void and partner Arsenal star Thomas Partey in the midfield.
Lastly, Wakaso Mubarak who missed the games against Morocco and Gabon is still nursing a minor injury and would not play a part of the game against Comoros.
The defensive midfielder’s absence is a major concern to Milovan Rajevac since Baba Iddrisu will be missed.
