The centre-back finally made his first appearance after being in the treatment room for eight months
Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu was in action on Friday night after he finally made his long-awaited return to Ligue 1 action after eight months in the treatment room with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury when AS Monaco secured a 2-1 victory over Lens in a highly competitive match.
The centre-back’s appearance marked his first league outing since January, bringing an end to a lengthy spell of rehabilitation and providing a welcome boost for both Monaco and Ghana.
Although he came on in additional time and spent around only two minutes on the field, Salisu’s return is particularly significant as he looks to regain match fitness, rebuild his rhythm and re-establish himself in Monaco’s defensive setup following his extended absence.
Earlier on Friday, Salisu was left out of Ghana’s squad for Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double header against Ivory Coast and Gambia and the international friendly against Morocco on October 4.
He is expected to have more minutes after the international break when Monaco host Toulouse on October 10.
