Bechem United team bus breaks down in Kumasi

The Hunters were left stranded for couple of minutes after their team bus failed to start after their game against the Miners

Bechem United players and technical team were left frustrated a bit following an unexpected fault their team bus picked on their way to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday for Ghana Premier League matchday four fixture against Ashanti Gold, AshesGyamera.com can reveal.

The Hunters who had to change their bus few kilometers to the stadium, became the first club to end Ashanti Gold’s flawless run by sharing the spoils 1-1 in a pulsating encounter. Prior to this game, Ashanti Gold had picked nine points from a possible nine but Emmanuel Owusu shot Bechem ahead before Amos Addai slotted in the equaliser with a powerful shot inside the box for the Obuasi-based club.

Amos Addai was adjudged the Man of the Match

After the game, the Bechem players had to wait a little while in the dressing rooms before becoming stranded outside since they had to vacate the facility for Wafa and Elmina Sharks players to occupy and prepare for the next game.

AshesGyamera understands that a new bus has been arranged to pick the players but it is yet to arrive as the players’ frustrations continue to boil.

Bechem won the 2016 Ghana FA Cup after defeating Okwawu United in the final at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium thanks to a brace from Yaw Arnol who is currently plying his trade in Spain.

#Trouble: Ghanaians & other applicants to United States to provide social media usernames

The Trump administration said Friday that it planned to require nearly all applicants for a visa to enter the United States to submit their social-media user names for the past five years.

Nearly all applicants for a visa to enter the United States — an estimated 14.7 million people a year — will be asked to submit their social-media user names for the past five years, under proposed rules that the State Department issued on Friday.

Last September, the Trump administration announced that applicants for immigrant visas would be asked for social-media data, a proposal that would affect about 710,000 people each year. The new proposal would vastly expand that requirement to cover some 14 million people each year who apply for nonimmigrant visas.

Although officials did not specify which social-media platforms would be affected, the proposal is likely to cover the largest ones, like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter. It could also conceivably include social-media platforms based overseas, like QQ and Weibo in China and VK in Russia.

During his campaign, President Trump promised “extreme vetting” of people seeking to enter the United States, and last March the State Department directed consular officers around the world to step up scrutiny of visa applicants.

But the new proposal would add a tangible new requirement for millions of people who apply to visit the United States for work or pleasure, including citizens of such countries as Brazil, China, India and Mexico.

Citizens of roughly 40 countries to which the United States ordinarily grants visa-free travel will not be affected by the requirement. Those countries include major allies like Australia, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and South Korea.

In addition, visitors traveling on diplomatic and official visas will mostly be exempted.

As news of the proposal emerged on Friday, so did criticism.

“This attempt to collect a massive amount of information on the social media activity of millions of visa applicants is yet another ineffective and deeply problematic Trump administration plan,” said Hina Shamsi, director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s National Security Project. “It will infringe on the rights of immigrants and U.S. citizens by chilling freedom of speech and association, particularly because people will now have to wonder if what they say online will be misconstrued or misunderstood by a government official.”

Anil Kalhan, an associate professor of law at Drexel University who works on immigration and international human rights, wrote on Twitter, “This is unnecessarily intrusive and beyond ridiculous.”

Representatives of Facebook and Twitter did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Along with the social-media information, visa applicants will be asked for past passport numbers, phone numbers and email addresses; for records of past international travel; whether they have been deported or removed, or violated immigration law, in the past; and whether relatives have been involved in terrorist activities.

“Maintaining robust screening standards for visa applicants is a dynamic practice that must adapt to emerging threats,” the State Department said in a statement. “We already request limited contact information, travel history, family member information, and previous addresses from all visa applicants. Collecting this additional information from visa applicants will strengthen our process for vetting these applicants and confirming their identity.”

Some 14 million people each year complete the online application for a nonimmigrant visa, known as the DS-160. It takes about 90 minutes to fill out, according to the department.

The San Bernardino, Calif., terrorist attack in 2015, which killed 14 people, focused attention on immigrants’ social-media use, after officials acknowledged that they had missed signs of online radicalization in an online-messaging platform used by the husband and wife who carried out the attack.

Last year, John F. Kelly, who was then the secretary of homeland security and is now Mr. Trump’s chief of staff, told members of Congress that his department was considering asking visitors for passwords and access to online accounts.

“We want to get on their social media, with passwords,” Mr. Kelly told members of the House Homeland Security Committee. “If they don’t want to cooperate, then you don’t come in.”

So far, the government has stopped short of demanding passwords, though travelers have reported being asked for them, on a sporadic basis, at airports and other ports of entry.

By some measures, the number of international visitors to the United States has begun to slip, although foreign tourism to New York City set a record last year.

The new State Department requirements will not take effect immediately. The proposal set off a 60-day period for public comment, which ends on May 29.

On Weibo, one of China’s largest social-media platforms, several users were critical of the plan.

“Does it mean someone’s visa application will likely be rejected if he/she has been critical of the U.S.?” one wrote. “What about your sacred ‘freedom of speech?’”

Another Weibo user wrote: “We Chinese have learned well enough the lessons to be drawn from isolation. Now it’s America’s turn.”

Shatta Wale promises 20-minute live band session as birthday gift for Prez. Akufo-Addo

The Shatta Movement boss has paid a courtesy call to the president of the country on his 74th birthday and wants to treat him with a live band show

Ghana’s dancehall king Shatta Wale has wished president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo a happy birthday on Thursday and has given him an official invitation to his newly acquired house.

H.E Akufo-Addo, who was born in 1944 turned 74 years old and Shatta Wale wants to treat him and several diplomats to a live band at his $550,000 Ship House which was bought for him after signing onto Zylofon Music label.

It can be recalled that Shatta Wale’s biggest rival Stonebwoy recently labelled him as a comedian who can’t do a live performance for ten minutes but the former wants to use this opportunity to refute such claims.

Shatta Wale is highly tipped to win the 2018 VGMA artist of the year after releasing several hit songs including Ayoo, Starboy, Takin Over, Umbrella, Bulletproof, Dem Confuse and Forgetti.

He recently returned from United States after shooting his first music video under Zylofon Music and has released a latest dancehall tune entitled Caesar which has started earning air play on several radio and television stations across the country.

#Wrap: Ghana Premier League Matchday 3: AshGold on fire, Kotoko suffer first defeat

The Miners seem not looking back after an incredible start this season after surviving relegation just six months ago, while Wonders continued their unbeaten run in their maiden campaign in the new format

A rejuvenated Ashanti Gold side continued their impressive start to the season with a home victory over newcomers Karela United FC thanks to defender Richard Osei Agyemang. The results mean that the Miners are the only side to have made it three wins out of three.

However, in Tarkwa, it was all about Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Felix Annan. The young shot-stopper almost became the reason why Paa Kwesi Fabin’s side nearly picked their second away point this season until Medeama got the solitary goal very late in the game through former Kotoko striker Kwame Boateng from the penalty spot.

This is the second defeat in a row to Kotoko at the same venue under two different coaches – Fabin and Zdravko Lugarosic.

At the Red Bulls Arena in Sogakope, goals from Musah Nuhu and youngster Aminu Mohammed handed title holders Aduana Stars their first defeat of the season. Aminu’s strike means that he has become the only player to score in all the games he has featured so far in the top-flight with two of his goals coming from free-kicks.

At the Nana Ameyaw Park in Techiman, debutants Eleven Wonders picked their first victory of the campaign and maintained their unbeaten record, after posting a 3-1 defeat to regional rivals Bechem United.

A brace from Abdul Wahab and another effort from Kwaku Adu were enough to send the Techiman municipality into an ecstatic moment despite a late consolation from Maxwell Frimpong for the visitors while Zuberu

Polo eyes Hearts of Oak return but on a condition

The Phobians manager admits he will relish another chance at the club but there must be certain conditions to help him succeed

Former Hearts of Oak coach Mohammed Polo has divulge that he would jump at the next opportunity to return to the club following a slow start to the 2017-18 Ghana Premier League season.

The Phobians have picked only a point from two games played after a stalemate with debutants Eleven Wonders in Techiman and the defeat to Ashanti Gold at home last weekend.

And according to the ‘dribbling magician’, his doors are opened if management of Phobia gives him the mantle to revert the club to its former glory.

“Why not? I have to help Hearts of Oak because is a team that I really love just like Ghana but football in the country is not developing but due to the current situation of Hearts, I will only return to help when they accept my conditions,” Polo told OTEC FM.

“Ghana football is going down off late and since am a football lover, I’m ready to help improve things” He added

“I think that [Pep] Guadiola, [Jose] Mourinho and Arsene Wenger Guadiola can’t add some value to the players so there will be the same problem. The additional value the coach will add to help the players’ form is what will help the club.

“I always say that it’s very unfortunate when your work is not appreciated especially during my tenure as the head coach of Hearts of Oak, it took me one month to produce a lot of talents in the junior team who are currently making it in the first team so you always need the right coach at the right time else you’ll fail,” he added.

Hearts currently sit 14th on the Ghana Premier League table and face Ebusua Dwarfs in matchday on Thursday at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Cassper reveals love for Stonebwoy, says he doesn’t know Shatta Wale’s songs

The South African rapper has further given another twist to the beef currently ongoing in Ghana Music industry after picking Stonebwoy over Shatta Wale

South African rapper Refiloe Maele Phoolo, known in showbiz as Cassper Nyovest, has revealed that he doesn’t know songs of Shatta Movement boss Shatta Wale but enjoys that of his fierce rival Stonebwoy.

According to Cassper, he has read a lot about Shatta Wale recently on the internet and it seems he is a ‘trouble’ maker in Ghana.

“He (Stonebwoy) is an amazing talent,” Cassper told Starr FM.

“He is my favourite and the best dancehall artiste in Africa and it’s only him that I listen to although there are many dancehall artists.

“That guy [called Shatta Wale] is a trouble. Everybody says he is lit. Looks like he’s the most popular here but I think Sarkodie is popular in South Africa than him and Stonebwoy,” he said.

“I have read a lot about him [Shatta Wale]…but I don’t know his music,” he added.

Cassper also advised African artists to be a brother’s keeper as he hopes to unite musicians on the continent in other to project African music to the rest of the world.

“Show me love when I come to your country, so [that] I can show love when one of yours come to mine. That’s what we need in the industry and that’s how we can grow. We must welcome each other,” he advised other African artists.

Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale are currently in a hot ‘beef’ after the former released a diss song entitled Dirty Enemies and further described his rival as lyrically and musically not better than him. On Sunday evening, Shatta Wale replied the diss song with No Mercy for the cripple.

Cassper is ranked among the top ten rappers on African soil and according to pundits, he is a little ahead of Sarkodie due to his public appeal and stage craft.

However, he has struggled to release a back to back hit tracks in South Africa recently but he has promised to hit the airwaves with his new songs very soon.

B.Chelsea supporters only lifted referee Liman, he wasn’t beaten, says Nketiah

The Blues chief has refuted claims that referee Nuhu Liman was mercilessly beaten by the home supporters leading to his collapse

Berekum Chelsea chief executive officer Nana Kwame Nketiah has denied reports that referee Nuhu Liman was beating by the club’s supporters following the 1-1 draw against Dreams FC at the Golden City Park on Sunday.

Samuel Bimpong got the opener for Dreams before Stephen Amankona snatched the equaliser very late in the game, to deny Dreams two wins in a row.

And according to several sources, the referee was mercilessly manhandled and collapsed in the process but the Chelsea chief says it is purely a fiction.

“It is true that our supporters rushed towards where the referee (Nuhu Liman) was after the game but he fell in the process without anyone everything touching him,” Nketiah told Oyerepa FM.

“After that thing happened, I asked the supporters to lift him and they did just that without any hesitation. Although, they were angry, ref Nuhu Liman was never beaten and I’m not in the known where these false allegations are coming from.

“Before the start of the season, I heard that some people wanted to protect some clubs ahead of the others because their owners are super rich. I am investigating this allegations and should it turn out to be true, I promise there will be fireworks since we’re all investing our respective club’s, ” he added.

Referee Liman has always been in controversies as he was handed an indefinite suspension last season by Ghana FA, following a dubious penalty he awarded Asante Kotoko in the FA Cup quarterfinals game against Nea Salamina and only returned last weekend.

Chelsea currently sit 11th on the log with one point while Dreams have moved to fourth with four points.
