The former Ashanti Gold chief has come under intense pressure from his colleagues following a recent criticisms of Kurt Okraku’s style of leadership at Ghana FA

A section of Executive Committee members of Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) are ready to vote to open an impeachment process against their chairman Kudjoe Fianoo for his recent conduct, AshesGyamera.com’s sources have revealed.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Fianoo has recently gone all guns blazing following Ghana’s recent poor performances in all competitions. He criticised Ghana FA president Kurt Okraku of poor leadership and insisted that Okraku’s recent outburst during a meeting with Black Stars players before the game against Sudan in 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers was unnecessary.

Fianoo believes Ghana eventually went on to draw the first leg goalless in Accra and lost the reverse fixture 2-0 in Benina, Libya because that comment and posture by the FA boss affected the player’s psychologically.

WHAT FIANOO SAID

The outspoken GHALCA boss suggested that Okraku should relinquish his position now or should not dream of a third term in office but some members of GHALCA are opposing these comments, insisting that they were unfortunate and a “serious violation” of his duties.

“The situation at the GFA is untenable, and a change in leadership is imperative,” Fianoo said in an interview.

“Ghana football is in a mess,” Fianoo lamented. “We haven’t seen anything yet. If the FA continues with this family and friends system, this is the result we will get. These individuals (Executive Council) came solely to benefit themselves, not to improve our game. “Things can only change if we all stop the ‘yes sir, master thing’ and speak truth to authority.

“Alongside GHALCA, I will spearhead an impeachment process against Kurt Okraku to ensure our football governance returns to a path of integrity and accountability. Everything is not working at the moment and we need to speak truth to power to save our dear game,” he added.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

AshesGyamera’s sources have revealed that GHALCA vice chairman John Ansah insists Fianoo’s comments were “abhorrent and wholly unacceptable” and does not represent the association.

As a result, reports suggest he has held some secret meetings with certain members of the executive committee and has advised the association’s secretary to draft a letter for him to sign in order to distance GHALCA from the comments passed by Fianoo to avoid the wrath of Ghana FA and maintain peace in the football ecosystem.

WHAT NEXT FOR FIANOO?

The GHALCA chairman’s statement will obviously spark some discussions within the football community especially as Ghana is on the verge of missing out of the 2025 AFCON for the first time in over two decades. The Black Stars have only two points from four games in Group F of the qualifiers and trail Sudan five points with two more games to be played. However, Fianoo should expect serious power play if some members truly want to stamp him out of the game.
