The former centre-back was involved in a car accident on Monday and was rushed to the hospital for treatment
Former Asante Kotoko defender Awudu Nafiu is in stable condition despite sustaining several degrees of injuries after he was involved in a road accident near Nkawie in the Awima Nwabiagya South District on Monday, AshesGyamera.com understands.
The 32-year-old, who was driving a 2011 model Toyota Tundra with registration number GT 5863 – 11, was said to be returning from a visit back to Kumasi.
However, it is believed that his car failed brake after he opted to make an overtaking and the car got involved in a head-on collision with a Daewoo Matiz with registration number AS 3869 – 19 which was also coming from the opposite direction.
The driver of the Matiz died on the spot according an eyewitness’ account while Nafiu was rushed to the Nkawie Hospital for treatment.
Nafiu currently plies his trade with Ethiopian side Dire Dawa after signing for them on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Equatorial Guinean side Futuro Kings where he joined in January 2019.
He has also previously had stints with AshantiGold SC, Berekum Chelsea, King Faisal and Tanzanian giants Azam FC.
