Underfire Prosper Ogum names Kotoko squad to face Samatex

Pressure keeps mounting on the Porcupine Warriors gaffer as results are not coming forth but he would hope to turn the fortunes around this weekend

Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum Narteh, Dr has announced a strong 20-man squad to face Samatex in Ghana Premier League matchday 11 fixture in Samreboi.

The past weeks have not been good in the books of the club, particularly Ogum, who has failed to pick a victory after four games.

The results, alongside his recent comment were he labelled some senior players as politicians, have angered a section of the supporters and only a win in Samreboi will possibly calm down tempers.

Fortunately for Ogum, he has the luxury of welcoming back Nicholas Osei Bonus, Enock Morrison and Justice Blay, who have been out recently due to injury concerns.

However, midfielder Richmond Lamptey could not make the trip and will miss the game after failing to recover from his injury worries.

Chris Hughton names Black Stars squad for 2026 World Cup qualifiers as Ayew, Kassim & others return

The beleaguered coach has announced a 25-man squad which he will be using to face Madagascar and Comoros in the World Cup qualifiers next two weeks

Ghana coach Chris Hughton has officially announced a 25-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars are expected to bounce back to winning ways after the disappointing results against Mexico and USA during last month’s international friendlies.

The two defeats have casted doubts on Hughton’s future, with reports in the local media widely suggesting that he could be fired on Friday.

However, amid all the rumors, Hughton seems to make a huge statement by releasing his squad that he he will be using for the qualifiers.

Notably returning to the squad is captain Andre Ayew who has been without a club since leaving Premier League side Nottingham Forest last year August. The 33-year-old was dropped when Ghana faced Mexico and USA and his presence as well as experience is needed now than ever.

Also, defender Kassim Adams and Medeama striker Jonathan Sowah are back into the squad.

Meanwhile, Thomas Party will miss the games due to injury while Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew and West Ham United forward Kudus Mohammed are in the squad as expected.

From automated highlight reels to predictive analytics for performance improvement, AI and ML are becoming indispensable tools for sports media professionals.

Puma unveils new fan kits for Black Stars ahead of 2023 Afcon

The Black Stars will be donning a new set of fan jerseys when they participate in the upcoming continental football festival in January

Ghana is set to wear a new jersey, which fans can also wear, produced by German kit manufacturing company Puma ahead of the start of 2023 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Cote d’Ivoire, AshesGyamera understand.

Kudus Mohammed

The Black Stars, who are hoping to end their over 30 years trophy drought, will be doing a yellow dominated jersey with a touch of Kente.

The jersey will emphasis Ghana’s rich natural resource of Gold as the country is currently rated as the highest producer on African soil ahead of South Africa.

The Kente strips will also represent the tradition and culture of Ghana as well as showcasing the strength of the people.

Inaki Williams

Ghana last won the Afcon trophy in 1982 when all members of the current crop of players were not born.

However, the Black Stars have made it to the final of the competition in 1992, 2010, and 2015 with many other semi finals berths.

Asamoah Gyan in trouble: Court awards cars, two houses, and gas station to Ghana legend’s ex-wife in divorce case

After a protracted three-year legal battle, an Accra court has delivered a verdict today affirming Asamoah Gyan’s paternity of the three children born to Gifty Gyan.

The court has decreed that Asamoah Gyan is obligated to provide financial support to Gifty Gyan in the form of a monthly stipend of 25,000 Ghana cedis.

However, this financial assistance does not encompass specific expenses such as school fees, medical and dental care, flight tickets, and various other childcare costs.

In addition to the financial obligations, the court has ruled that Asamoah Gyan’s mansion located in the United Kingdom be transferred to Gifty Gyan as part of the settlement.

She has also been awarded a four-bedroom house situated in Spintex, Accra.

Furthermore, the court has adjudicated that two vehicles owned by Asamoah Gyan, a BMW and an Infiniti, be handed over to Gifty Gyan.

Additionally, Asamoah Gyan’s land, originally designated for the construction of a filling station, has been assigned to Gifty Gyan.

This legal decision represents a significant development in the longstanding and intricate legal dispute involving Asamoah Gyan and Gifty Gyan, particularly in relation to the custody of their children and associated financial matters.

It is worth noting that in 2018, Asamoah Gyan publicly disclosed his financial challenges, citing bankruptcy.

The situation further complicated matters, as Gyan reportedly ceased communication with his wife, Gifty, and their three children since August. Phone calls from the family have gone unanswered.

Amidst these developments, Asamoah Gyan is said to have expressed his intention to seek an annulment of his marriage to Gifty,

This test has been requested by Asamoah Gyan’s older brother, Baffuor, adding another layer of complexity to this intricate family saga.

Asante Kotoko 1-1 Bechem United: Okrah’s powerful header denies Kotoko victory as Amidu scores debut goal

The Porcupine Warriors were hoping to recover from the derby draw last weekend but the visitors had other ideas as they continued their recent resurgence

Asante Kotoko shared the spoils 1-1 with Bechem United in matchday seven fixture of Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday in Kumasi.

Prior to the game, Kotoko were hoping to get back on winning ways after the painful stalemate with Nations FC in the Kumasi derby last weekend.

Peter Amidu gave Kotoko the lead by the 10th minute bursting into Bechem’s defence and sent a powerful shot into the top left corner for his debut goal for the club.

Kotoko could have doubled their lead but Kalo Ouatarra’s shot five minutes later was feeble and could not cause trouble to Bechem.

After the break, Augustine Okrah silenced the home fans when he scored a brilliant equaliser after outjumping his marker to head in a tailor-made cross by Emmanuel Avornyo.

Peter Acquah ran through Bechem United midfield on the 79th minute and set up by Dese Mukwala but the striker failed to hit the back of the net before Acquah also missed another glorious opportunity.

Okrah nearly made Kotoko pay for their missed chances by the 83rd minute after scoring another goal but it was chalked off as offside.

Cephas Mantey nearly won the day for Bechem after climbing off the substitute bench for Okrah but his wonderful header deep in additional time was saved by Danlad Ibrahim.

Kotoko are now winless in their last two outings, picking two points from six, while Bechem have garnered four points in the process to continue their fine form.

Asante Kotoko boss names starting XI to face Bechem United

The Porcupine Warriors are hoping to recover from the painful stalemate against Nations FC as they welcome Bechem to Kumasi

Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum Narteh has named a formidable starting XI to face Bechem United in Ghana Premier League matchday seven fixture against Bechem United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim will keep his place in post ahead of Frederick Asare while Augustine Agyapong, Henry Ansu, Yussif Nurudeen and Osei Bonsu complete the defence.

Richmond Lamptey is expected to lead the midfield with Peter Acquah and others while Kalo Ouatarra and Steven Dese Mukwala take the role in attack.

Bechem will be having former Kotoko forward Augustine Okrah in their set up as he is expected to torment Kotoko’s defence.

Henry Ansu
Mohammed Yusif Nurudeen
Nicholas Osei Bonsu

Nations FC 2-2 Kotoko: Diarra’s late penalty saves newcomers from derby defeat

The Kumasi derby ended in an intriguing stalemate as three late goals were scored coupled with over ten minutes of temporal hold up due to fans violence

Nations FC shared the spoils 2-2 with Asante Kotoko in the Kumasi derby at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese on Sunday.

Before the game, Nations were yet to taste defeat at home since making their way into the top-flight while Kotoko were chasing their second away win after pipping Accra Lions a fortnight ago.

Peter Acquah Amidu combined with Richmond Lamptey to set up Sherrif Mohammed by the fifth minute but the latter saw his shot going narrowly wide.

A minute later, Nations FC came close to poking their noses in front but Victor’s effort was blocked by Nanabeyin Amoah.

After the break, Henry Ansu headed into his own net from a Nations FC corner kick by the 47th minute to set home fans at the stadium into wild jubilations.

Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum brought on Steven Dese Mukwala and Kyei Dwamena for Mfegue and Ntim respectively.

Mukwala pulled parity by the 86th minute after Kalo Ouatarra’s double strikes were blocked before Dwamena added another goal two minutes later.

Nations FC were handed a penalty late in additional time and that generated a heated argument among the Kotoko players and away fans leading to almost ten minutes of temporary hold up.

Amidu Diarra stepped up and sent goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim the wrong way to notch in the equaliser.

The stalemate means that Nations FC have picked five points from three home games and are yet to taste defeat at home.

Highlights: United States 4-0 Ghana: Black Stars humiliated in America as Chris Hughton loses two games in a row

The Black Stars were thrashed in another abysmal performance as Chris Hughton once again failed to show his tactical leadership

Ghana were hammered in a 4-0 defeat against United States of America in an international friendly at the Geodis Park in Tynnessie on Wednesday morning.

The Black Stars had some changes in their setup as goalkeeper Manag Nurudeen replaced Lawrence Ati-Zigi while Jerome Opoku was handed his debut for Ghana and Jordan Ayew also started this time after being left on the bench against Mexico last week.

A Nicholas Opoku’s mistake led to the opener as Reyna opened the scoring capitalised on a failed clearance to shot United States in front on the tenth minute.

The hosts added another goal from the spot through former Chelsea star Christian Pulisic nine minutes later.

Kudus Mohammed tried to reduce the deficit with an ambitious shot on target but his effort was blocked. Few minutes later, United States made it 3-0 through Florin Balogun on 22nd minute after another shambolic defending by Ghana.

Things moved from bad to worse after another poor defending from Nicholas Opoku led to an indirect freekick to United States. Reyna stepped up and perfectly slotted the resulting kick beyond the reach of goalkeeper Manaf and all the defenders stuck in the post.

After the break, Ghana made several changes with Partey, Gideon Mensah and Kudus all going off for the likes of Elisha Owusu, Salis and Nuamah coming in but they could so little to salvage the situation.

The defeat means that Chris Hughton’s side has lost two games on the bounce after a 2-0 defeat to Mexico last week and conceded six goals without scoring any.
