The Porcupine Warriors supporters chief has open the lid on how the goalkeeper nearly joined them and insists there are plans to still sign him

Asante Kotoko failed to sign Medeama’s goalkeeper Boris Junior Mandjui despite being offered to freely due to several behind the scenes issues, supporters chief Christopher Damenya.

According to Damenya, Mandjui arrived in Kumasi through the recommendation of former player Amed ‘Simba’ Toure but Kotoko failed to sign him and the goalkeeper ended up signing a three-year deal with Medeama last year.

Mandjui was a thorn in the fresh of Kotoko on Sunday and made several saves which ended him up winning the Man of the Match and Damenya insists that they will sign him if Kotoko qualify to play in Caf Champions League next season.

“We know Mandjui is a good goalkeeper. We know him because he was introduced to us by our former player Amed Toure but because of one or two issues, we could not qualify,” Damenya said.

“I can say that we will sign him if we qualify to play in Caf Champions League next season. We will need his experience to help us in the Caf inter-club competition,” he added.

Mandjui, who is a former player of Salitas and Asec Mimosas, joined Medeama from Association Sportive de L’Indénié.
