After several hours of waiting by the club’s supporters at the Kotoka international airport, the Brazilian landed to a rousing welcome
Asante Kotoko new midfielder Fabio da Silva Gama has arrived in the country on Monday evening after initially keeping the club’s supporters in suspense, AshesGyamera.com can confirm.
The 28-year-old was expected to arrive on Monday morning but had issues on his way and needed to make a transit in Ethiopia before connecting to ghana.
He joined the Kumasi-based club as a free agent last month after concluding his deal with Swedish lower-tier side Jonkoping IF.
However, due to paperwork and Coronavirus disease restrictions, the Brazilian could not arrive on time for the club’s pre-season training and missed their opening day game against Techiman Eleven Wonders on Sunday.
In spite of this, he was able to land at the Kotoko International Airport in the afternoon of Monday and was welcomed by the club’s top hierarchy led by Chief executive officer Nana Yaw Amponsah and many supporters.
With Kotoko seriously eyeing the top-flight and aiming for at least qualification to the group stage of Caf Champions League, Gama is expected to bring on board his vast experience to help coach Maxwell Konadu to attain the desired results.
Gama, has had stints in the past with Varnamo and Botafogo and became the tenth signing by Kotoko after the likes of Emmanuel Keyekeh, Sulley Muniru, Evans Adomako, Razak Abalora and Andrew Appau among others.
