Ghana defeated South Africa 1-0 in the last game of Group G of 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday.

With the Black Stars needing a win of any form to finish as Group G winners, coach Milovan made two changes in his squad that shared the spoils with Ethiopia last week.

Israel-based striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom who was surprisingly called for the game and Celta Vigo defender Joseph Aidoo were dropped to the bench following their poor output.

As a result, Strasbourg defender Alexander Djiku who missed the game against Ethiopia due to accumulated cards has returned took over his place while Mubarak Wakaso was also handed a starting berth.

Andre Ayew partnered his junior brother Jordan Ayew and Kudus Mohammed in a 4-3-3 formation.

However, after eight minutes, Ghana were forced to make a change after Kudus picked up an injury. St.Pauli midfielder Daniel Kofi Kyereh took over his duties and perfectly brought stability in midfield.

After wasting some half chances, Ghana were presented with a golden opportunity to take the lead when Daniel Amartey was heckled in the box by a South Africa defender.

Andre Ayew stepped forward and perfectly slotted in the ball for the opening goal.
