The Porcupine Warriors finally recorded their first victory in the league after failing in their previous four attempts

Asante Kotoko defeated Medeama 1-0 in matchday eleven of Ghana Premier League 1-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

A Sheriff Mohammed’s second half goal from the spot meant that Kotoko have finally ended their four-game run without a win and moved out of the relegation zone.

After an end to end action in the first half, where both sides failed to hit the back of the net, Kotoko returned from recess rejuvenated.

Cameroon forward Mfegue was pulled down in Medeama box and although the visitors argued that there was little or minimal contact, Kotoko were awarded a penalty.

Sherrif stepped up and sent goalkeeper Felix Kyei to the wrong direction to open the scoring. However, Medeama staged another protest as they believed Sheriff touched the ball twice with both feet before it entered the net.

Amid their argument, the referee was adamant and awarded the goal.
