Ashanti Gold 4-2 Top Talents; Miners make it to FA Cup semis


The Miners defeated the lower tier side to cruise to the penultimate game of the competition

AshantiGold defeated Kintampo Top Talent FC 4-2 in the semifinals of 2020/21 Ghana FA Cup at the Len Clay Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Defender Frank Akoto opened the scoring very in the game after a mistake by Top Talents defenders.

Isaac Opoku Agyemang added another goal few minutes later but the visitors pulled one back through an own goal by Ashanti Gold’s defender Kwadwo Amoako.

Former Legon Cities striker Paul Asare de Vries restored Ashanti Gold’s two goal margin before the break with a fine finish.

After recess, Ashanti Gold dictated play and created a lot of chances but failed to make then count.

Amos Addai finally saw one of his shots on target by the 78th minute to extend Ashanti Gold’s lead.

On the stroke of full time, Prince Kofi Sarkodie scored another consolation goal for Top Talents whose rollercoaster campaign came to a sad ending.

Ashanti Gold will now meet the winner between Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea who lock horns tomorrow in the semifinals.

Later today, Hearts of Oak will also face Elmina Sharks in another quarterfinal game at the Nduom Sports Stadium in Elmina.
