The Phobians shocked their fierce rivals and could be heading towards glory with three more games to be played

Hearts of Oak defeated Asante Kotoko 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday thanks to Daniel Afriyie Barnie’s 65th minute strike. After several failed attempts, the Phobians got the bragging rights and could even ran away with the league trophy.

The Phobians, who are yet to win a major trophy since 2009, have their noses in front to win this season’s Ghana Premier League as they need to maintain their composure in the remaining three games which include two on the road.

Hearts will now travel to Cape Coast to play Ebusua Dwarfs before they host Liberty at the Accra Sports Stadium and wrap it up with a visit to Sogakope to face WAFA. Samuel Boadu’s charges now need to win two of these games and they will be crowned champions because of superior head-to-head over Kotoko since the first leg ended goalless.

Kotoko, on the other hand, will play King Faisal next at Len Clay Sports Stadium before they trek to Bechem to battle Bechem United and finish the season with a home tie against Elmina Sharks.

The Porcupine Warriors need a lot of favour from Dwarfs, who themselves are also struggling to avoid relegation. Should Dwarfs prevent Hearts from picking a win in Cape Coast, the Phobians must then defeat Liberty at home and WAFA at all cost on final day of the season
