The Porcupine Warriors initially didn’t want to lose the nimble-footed winger until the end of the January, but the Moroccan side are pushing to have him available to them before the end of November

Asante Kotoko midfielder Augustine Okrah has arrived in Morocco on Wednesday to undergo medical tests ahead of completing a move to one of the Moroccan Botola League side, AshesGyamera.com can exclusively reveal.

The 27-year-old rejoined Kotoko in July 2019 after mutually terminating his contract with Indian Super League side North East United FC when he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Although, Okrah was registered by Kotoko for the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League and Caf Champions League season, the player will not be part of the squad again should he pass the mandatory medical in the North African country this week. The 2020/21 Moroccan league season kicks off on December 4 and ends on August 18, 2021.

“Augustine Okrah and Kotoko top hierarchy agreed to this move since it is a win-win situation,” a source close to the player told AshesGyamera.com in an interview.

“He left the country earlier this week and currently in Morocco to undergo his medical. Hopefully, everything will go through and he will join his new club and Kotoko will also have some financial cushion from his sale to help their course.

“It is left with a couple of months on his contract and could’ve just opted to wait for it to expire and go as a free agent mid-season but he has Kotoko at heart and decided to move at a time where they will benefit because this is a club that gave him the first platform as a professional player. All the details of the contract and name of the club will be officially out soon,” the source added.

Okrah, who played a part in Kotoko’s opening day 1-1 draw with Techiman Eleven Wonders in the Premier League a fortnight ago, will miss the Caf Champions League preliminary round first leg against FC Nouadhibou in Mauritania as Kotoko hope to qualify to the group stage for the first time in many years.

He won the 2013/14 Ghana Premier League goal King with 16 goals and was also adjudged the Best Player of the League.

Okrah has had stints with the two most glamorous clubs in Sudan — Al Merriekh and Al Hilal — where he won the Sudanese Premier League and FA Cup trophy.
