The youngster capped a wonderful season with one of the most important goals as Spezia look favourite to qualify to the top-flight next season
Ghanaian striker Emmanuel Gyasi was on target when Spezia Calcio made a huge statement in their bid to qualify to play in 2021/22 Serie A when they defeated Frosinine 1-0 in the first leg of the playoffs on Sunday.
The 25-year-old opened the scoring by the 21st minute with a wonderful finish after connecting an assist from Guillio Maggiore to silence the hosts.
Despite Spezia having several decent chances, they couldn’t double their lead before half time.
After the break, Frosinone doubled their efforts as they searched for the equaliser but were unable to break down the resilient defence of their visitors.
Gyasi, who has now scored 12 goals this season, was cautioned on 73rd minute following a bad challenge on his marker.
The return leg will take place on Thursday at Stadio Alberto Picco and the winner after the two rounds will join Benevento and Crotone as the three sides to earn promotion.
