The accident took place on the main road from Berekum to Dormaa Ahenkro when a passenger bus crashed into a taxi after the driver of the former opted to dodge a pothole
About nine people have been reported dead after a passenger bus (Ford) crashed into a taxi at the Amomaso police barrier off the Dormaa Ahenkro to Berekum main road in the Bono region on Thursday morning, AshesGyamera.com understands.
The accident took place few metres away from the barrier when the driver of the Ford decided to dodge a pothole and crashed with the taxi in a head on collision.
All the five people in the taxi died at the spot after it fell into a pit while four people in the Ford, including the driver, are reported dead while several passengers have sustained various degrees of injuries.
According to eyewitness Abis Kola, it took the fire service about twenty minutes before they arrived at the scene but it was to little too late to save the passengers in the taxi.
“The driver of the Ford vehicle was dodging a pothole in his lane and ran into the taxi. The taxi then fell into a pit but we couldn’t help them out because there was gas coming out and we feared there could be an explosion,” he said.
“After twenty minutes, the fire Service arrived from Berekum because it is about ten mi utes drive away from that town but unfortunately all of those on board were dead. It was only those in the Ford that we were able to save some of them. It was a bad experience,” he added.
