The Porcupine Warriors will be heading to the Southern end of Africa in the preliminary round of the continental competition
Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have been handed a manageable opponent in the preliminary round of the 2020/21 Caf Champions League as they are billed to face Nouadhibou of Mauritania, AshesGyamera.com can confirm.
In a draw held on Monday in Cairo, Egypt, Kotoko will play as hosts at the Accra Sports Stadium on December 6 since the Baba Yara Sports Stadium is still under renovation and would likely not be ready for the first leg on November 29.
The winner after the two legs will square it off with either Al Hilal of Sudan or Ugandan giants Vipers in the next round. If Kotoko are able to go over these two hurdles, they will qualify to the group stage.
Kotoko’s opponent Nouadhibou have won their country’s league eight times and have been champions since 2017/18 league season.
Meanwhile, Ashanti Gold will face Salitas of Burkina Faso in the preliminary stage of the Caf Confederation Cup. The Miners will host the Burkinabe club at the Len Clay Sports Stadium before a trip to Burkina Faso.
The winner will meet the winner of the tie between El Amal of Sudan and KVZ FC of Zanzibar
However, Kotoko and AshantiGold will have the Ghana Premier League to prepare since the season kicks off on Friday.
