Ghana’s president Akufo-Addo can’t save corrupt officials, says Bawumia

Ghana’s vice-president Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has sent a strong warning to Ghanaians who are expected to face special prosecutor Martin Amidu in an alleged corrupt practices that there is no escape route.

Bawumia, who was a special guest at the New Year School and Conference of University of Ghana on Monday, believes nobody is above the laws of Ghana and not even the first gentleman of the country, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo can be able to save their blushes.

“With the appointment of Martin Amidu, the message is very clear that he [President Akufo-Addo] is very serious about dealing with this issue (corruption). It is not a partisan issue; you can have corrupt people across the partisan divide.
“The message is that, not even the President can protect you if you are corrupt,” he added.

AshesGyamera.com understands that Amidu will begin his prosecution process next month with several opposition party (NDC) members in his list.
