The Black Satellites coach says Ghana Football Association boss does not interfere in the selection of players to the national team amid public agitations

Ghana U20 head coach Abdul Karim Zito has come to the defence of Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku following reports that he has been interfering in player selections to the various national teams.

Reports were rife last week that the Black Stars have been failing to live up to the expectations because Okraku together with other high ranking executives of the football administration have been imposing players on coaches.

As a result, invitation to the national team hasn’t been genuine but Zito believes such claims are false insisting that Okraku only plays supervisory role to all national teams coaches.

“No he doesn’t interfere in the selection of players to the national team,” Zito told Kessben FM

“But it is just like noticing something and drawing the coach’s attention. But look at it this way somebody has given you a job to do for him and then he comes to say do this or why didn’t you do this or why didn’t you do that and then we turn it to be an interference.

“I gave you the job and I have noticed that there is something wrong or I just want to suggest something. I do this and they say I’m interfering.”

Ghana lose to South Africa on Monday in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers in Johannesburg making leaving them second position tied with Ethiopia in Group G.
