Real Mallorca shock Real Madrid in La Liga

Real Madrid’s hopes of retaining La Liga were dented Sunday as the champions fell 1-0 at Real Mallorca, to remain five points behind leaders Barcelona.

The Catalans host Sevilla later on and can open up an eight point lead after a frustrated Madrid fell against Javier Aguirre’s side, with Marco Asensio missing a penalty against his former club.

Nacho’s 13th minute looping header into his own net separated the teams in a hard-fought clash, frequently slowed by various fouls from the hosts.

Amid a constant battle between winger Vinicius Junior and Mallorca’s players and supporters, the islanders held off Los Blancos to record an impressive v

victory

Real Madrid, second, were without goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, hurt during the warm-up, along with the injured Karim Benzema, Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy, among other absentees.

Rodrygo started up front in place of Benzema, while Dani Ceballos and Fede Valverde were given starts in midfield ahead of veterans Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

The match was heated from the start, largely due to historic bad blood between Vinicius and Mallorca. Mallorca captain Antonio Raillo has criticised the Brazilian winger on multiple occasions for lacking respect towards opponents and said he wouldn’t hold him up as an example to his son.

Home fans at the Visit Mallorca Stadium whistled Vinicius when he was on the ball and chanted Raillo’s name.Ancelotti was also frustrated his team were playing in the early afternoon after having faced Valencia on Thursday night and Madrid started sluggishly.

Mallorca, 10th, took an early lead when Nacho’s attempted header sent Dani Rodriguez’s in-swinging cross from the left looping over Courtois’s stand-in Andriy Lunin and dipping just under the crossbar.

The hosts shackled Vinicius well in the first half and reduced Madrid to pot-shots from distance, Antonio Rudiger and Valverde firing wildly off-target.

Vinicius was booked for stepping on Pablo Maffeo’s foot, leaving the Brazilian incredulous after various fouls against him had not been punished with a card.

Ceballos protested vehemently to the officials as the teams went in at the break and was also booked, as temperatures rose in the Mallorcan sun.- Heated -Vinicius pulled at the Madrid badge on his shirt while looking at the home fans to agitate them further.

Early in the second half Raillo responded by offering Vinicius the Mallorca badge on his shirt to kiss. Madrid had a golden chance to level when Mallorca goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic brought down Vinicius, but the Serbian denied Asensio from the spot. The Real Madrid forward, from Mallorca, tried to find the bottom right corner but Rajkovic flung himself full-length to tip away his penalty.

David Alaba returned from injury off the bench and his cross was volleyed narrowly over by Mariano Diaz, on a rare outing for the Dominican Republic striker, as Madrid’s desperation grew.

Rudiger sent a dipping header wide late in stoppage time as Madrid’s last chance slipped away.

Madrid will have to put defeat behind them quickly as they travel to Morocco midweek to take part in the Club World Cup.

Meet the talented Ghanaian player who signed for Real Madrid but became De Gea’s driver in Spain

The one-time Ghana youth star could not live up to the expectations as series of injuries ended his career

In 1995, the Ghana national team sensationally won the U17 World Cup, defeating Brazil in the final. The goal for the Brazilians was scored by Baba Sule, a boy from a family with 14 children.

After the tournament, Mallorca signed with him, and then invited Real Madrid. The young midfielder was seen as Claude Makelele, energetic, persistent, aggressive on the kick and controlling the entire center of the field.

Baba Sule could not get out of the shock for a long time: to come to the Santiago Bernabeu, to agree on a contract, albeit with registration only in the reserve team and the prospect of an immediate loan to Leganes.

Baba Sule never made his Real Madrid debut either: injuries ended it. He also contracted hepatitis in Mallorca.

Arriving on loan at Leganes, Baba Sule tore ligaments in the first game of the season. He just recovered and in the first game after returning, he crushed his knee. After that there were clubs whose names will not tell you anything.

And then the Ghanaian met David de Gea, then a young Atletico talent. David did not yet have a driver’s license. At first, his parents kicked him out of the house, but then the club found a reliable driver and football, a midfielder from the Madrid club, Baba Sule.

“He was very shy, but we did well. During the trip, I learned the phrases in English. I had a great time with De Gea and his family. We are still in touch, we recently communicated with David’s mother in a conversation, we call David himself. “I always worry when he calls,” says Baba Sule.

After moving to Manchester United, David initially called his Ghanaian friend, who was very surprised to see a British number on the screen of his mobile phone.
! It’s De Gea! Thank you for everything”.

“I sent all the money to my thirteen brothers and sisters,” said Baba Sule.

It is for this reason that the Ghanaian was actively seeking a part-time job, including as a driver. At one point, he got a job as an electrician and then worked at the El Corte Ingles retail chain store.

Now 43, Sule has been with Fuenlabrada, a second-tier Spanish club, for several years. His new tasks are to collect balls, clean boots, wash uniforms.

Betting Odds for Sunday games across Europe; simple way of making money

With the last round of matches to be played today before the various leagues go on halt for international break, AshesGyamera.com predicts the outcome of games to be played on Sunday.

In the Premier League, Liverpool will welcome champions Manchester City to Anfield in a make or break encounter. A win is imminent for both sides but Liverpool may pull a surprise against the run of play.

There are at least two goals expected to rain this afternoon when West Ham host Brentford who held Liverpool to a 3-3 stalemate last weekend, while Tottenham Hotspur will hope to recover from their slumber.

After winning their opening three games, Tottenham have surprisingly fallen short of what everyone expected of them. They are winless in their last three games and today provides a better opportunity for them to show reactions.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid after their shocking defeat to minnows Sheriff Tiraspol in the UEFA Champions League will be hoping to make a statement that they still have their mojo when they face Espanyol away.

Elsewhere in France, Messi, Kaylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr are expected to come to the party when PSG face Stade Rennes in Ligue 1 biggest game of the weekend. Ghanaian midfielder Kamaldeen Sulemana has also promised to punish PSG despite their star-studded squad.

Edmund Addo wants to play with Ronaldo at Manchester United after shocking Real Madrid

The youngster is hoping that the English giants will come for his signature soon as he has always been hoping to play at Old Trafford

Ghanaian midfielder Edmund Addo who played the entire duration when Sheriff Tiraspol shocked Real Madrid 2-1 in the Uefa Champions League at the Bernabeu Stadium in Spain on Tuesday believes it is possible to sign for Manchester United in future.

The 22-year-old came to light earlier this year when he joined Sheriff Tiraspol from Slovakia club FC Senica.

He has since been in an awesome form and was even able to ‘pocket’ legendary midfielders Toni Kroos and Casmeiro when Sheriff stunned the world by defeating Real Madrid in Spain.

Although, reports suggest that a lot of top European clubs have shown interest in his style of play and could make advancement to sign him in the January transfer window, Addo is hoping Manchester United are among those who will officially come forward since it has been his childhood dream.

“Ideally, my dream is to play for Manchester United in future,” Addo said in an interview.

“Which player doesn’t want to be in one of the strongest football clubs in Europe?  I am no exception.”

“What player doesnt want to be in one of the strongest football clubs in Europe? I’m not an exception. Ideally, my dream is to play for Manchester United

“Since childhood I have been rooting for the Red Devils. But today you have to work hard.

“I strive to get a chance to prove myself in the Champions League. Now this is the most important thing,” he added.

Addo had 92.3% passing accuracy with 25 touches  and four ground duels won against Madrid.

Also, he had 2/2 long balls completed and won two fouls and tackles as well as interpretations.

Interestingly, despite Addo’s consistent performance in Europe, he was conspicuously missing when Ghana’s new coach Milovan Rajevac named the Black Stars squad that will play the double header in 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe on October 5 and October 9.

However, reports have suggested that due to the injury sustained by Alfred Duncan, Addo could be handed a late call up and may have the opportunity to make his debut for Ghana.

Up and close with Edmund Addo; the Ghanaian who helped Sheriff Tiraspol to beat Real Madrid

Fast rising Ghanaian midfielder Edmund Addo has shed light on his rise to fame as a footballer following his heroic display this week against Real Madrid in the Uefa Champions League.

The 22-year-old helped Moldova giants FC Sheriff Tiraspol to stun Real Madrid 2-1 at home and that win has gotten the whole world talking about his style of play and disciplinary actions on and off the ball.

FMIG: Hello Edmund. Thanks for your time and congrats for your performance in the UCL so far.

EA: Hi. It’s a pleasure talking to you and thanks for congratulating me. I hope to do better than what you have seen so far.

FMIG: Which part of Ghana do you come from and where did you start playing football?

EA: I come from the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. Precisely, Korle Gonna. I started playing football with Mighty Cosmos. It’s a colts club at Korle Bu.

FMIG: Which clubs did you play for in Ghana before moving out?

EA: I played and did trial for several clubs such as Aduana Stars, Bechem United, Attram Di Visser and my mother club Mighty Cosmos.

FMIG: How come none of these sides saw the huge talent in you which you are now showing to the world?

EA: Well, maybe they felt I was just wasting my time. Maybe they didn’t believe in me.

FMIG: How did you get to Europe to start playing football?

EA: I was scouted through the ArthurLegacy Scouting Tournaments. That was the breakthrough. That was the beginning of God answering my prayers.

FMIG: Any challenges encountered in Europe with your career?

EA: Hmmmm [pauses and smiles] … A lot. I faced a lot of challenges as a fresh player in Europe including the weather, language, salaries, coaches decisions and choices but now am used to the system and very focused with my career. I don’t have such challenges any longer.

Addo and Toni Kroos

FMIG: How many clubs have you played for in Europe and where will you say is your best club?

EA: Professionally, I played for FK Senica and currently with FC Sheriff Tiraspol. My Current team is my best club now.

FMIG: You were part of those who qualified Sheriff Tiraspol to the UEFA CL. How did you feel after that qualification?

EA: Well I felt very happy, glad and favoured by God to be part of FC Sheriff’s UEFA Champions League history.

FMIG: You are one of the few Ghanaian players to have played in the UEFA CL. How proud are you with this achievement?

Addo and Karim Benzema in action

EA: Oh! I feel good and blessed as well. It’s every players’ dream to play in the UCL. So am really excited. I consider myself a lucky player. Wow, you are just telling me about this but if I’m part of the few who have traveled that far, I should be happy.

FMIG: You helped your side to beat Shaktar Donetsk 2-0 in your first game. Is that your biggest game of your career?

EA: At that time, yes it was. But definitely there can’t be any bigger game than playing against Real Madrid. I enjoyed playing against Real Madrid.

FMIG: Every player obviously plays for bigger opportunities. Where do you want to be in the next few years?

EA: Wow! In the next few years, I want to be among and with the biggest clubs in Europe. I also want to see myself playing for my childhood club Manchester United.

FMIG: Your appearance in the UEFA CL has made you a talking point in Ghana. Have you been following Ghana football?

EA: Yes I do I follow my country’s football because of friends and colleagues participating.

FMIG: Which team do you support in Ghana?

EA: Well in Ghana I support the best team which will emerge victorious at the end of every season.

FMIG: So you support Hearts? They just won every club trophy in Ghana.

EA: [Giggles] … well, I support the best.

FMIG: Every player dreams of playing for their national team. Do you also have the same dream?

EA: Well if I get the chance, why not? I’ll be fine though if I don’t the chance. It will depend on my performance.

FMIG: In recent times, some players have declined playing for the Ghana national team. Why do you think when some players play in Europe, they don’t want to play for their national teams?

EA: Wow! For that, I don’t know for them. I can’t think for them. If I were the one, perhaps I could give some reasons.

FMIG: What do you want to achieve this season in football?

EA: Definitely I want to win awards for myself and club. I want to win the league title or finish in a good position. Will love to finish in a good position in the UCL and any individual award will also be good.

FMIG: Thanks for your time Edmund. We are much grateful for this interview.

EA: You are always welcome. I have enjoyed this ‘convo.’ Please let me take this opportunity to thank the management of ArthurLegacy Sports and CEO Mr. Oliver Arthur for believing in me and also giving me the opportunity to show the world what I have in me as a footballer, and also not forgetting the management of Mighty Cosmos my colts club. Thank you.

FMIG: It’s a pleasure Eddie. We’ll have time for a proper one-on-one since you are a bit engaged now. Take care and get ready for The Big Interview.

EA: I’ll always be ready. See you.
