“This isn’t my last Afcon for Ghana,” Andre Ayew hopes to win title for Ghanaians

The Black Stars skipper insists he is will be back to challenge for the ultimate for his countrymen

Ghana captain Andre Ayew has rejected suggestions that he may have played in his last Africa Cup of Nations following the Black Stars’ shambolic performance at 2021 Afcon.

Ayew, who made a record as only the fourth player alongside countryman Asamoah Gyan, Samuel Eto and Kalusha Bwalya as the only players to have scored goals at six successive Afcons, was shown red card against Comoros when Ghana lost 3-2 and got crashed out of the tournament.

“No, it is definitely not. This isn’t my last. I will be back,” Ayew told the media.

Ayew also apologized to Ghanaians for failing to live up to the expectations.

“We didn’t make them proud and we take responsibilities for that because we didn’t have a good Afcon. We apologise to the nation for not going to the next stage. We’re very disappointed because this is not Ghana,” Ayew said, as quoted by AshesGyamera.com.

“If you check the goals we conceded against Morocco and verses Gabon, you can see that there was no luck. We need to learn from this

“If you guys know me, you will know live to fight another day. We will be back because we’re going to work hard and will be back. We need to swallow the [bitter] pill now because teams won the Afcon and the next tournament they were out from the group stage and an example is Cote D’Ivoire after 2015.

“We need to stay calm and see what went wrong and like I said prepare because something is coming quickly which is the playoff for the World Cup and we have to be ready for that,” he added.

Government summons Ghana FA top hierarchy to emergency meeting; heads expected to roll

The country’s football governing body will appear before the ministry of Youth and Sports and explain why the Black Stars failed woefully at the 2021 Afcon

Ghana government, through ministry of Youth and Sports, has summoned Ghana FA top hierarchy to a meeting following the Black Stars’ shambolic performance at 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black could not make it out of their group as they only picked a point following defeats to Morocco and minnows Comoros.

As a result, the ministry of Youth and Sports has arranged an emergency meeting with the “Football People” to ascertain why the country was made to throw money away.

The Black Stars were camped in Doha, Qatar for two weeks and played Algeria in a friendly before they headed to Cameroon for the tournament.

However, things did not go as planned despite all the plans put in place by government.

Interestingly, this was the country’s worse ever performance at the Afcon as they failed to pick just a point.

Ahead of the final Group C game against Comoros, Youth and Sports minister Ussif Mustapha urged the players to do their best since government had provided everything for them.

“On our part as government, you can attest to it that we have done our part, because every single thing that we have to put in place, I have ensured His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made it available,” Ussif said.

“So there is nothing for you to be worried about as far as financial and logistical issues are concerned. All we need is for you to deliver,” Ussif told the players,” he added.

Following the elimination, a section of Ghanaians including top journalists and politicians have argued that Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac should be given a sack just three month into office.

Ghana FA will have to defend why the coach must stay when they meet the leadership of Youth and Sports ministry

The ministry provided everything including camping in Qatar but still…

Milovan may be sacked.

Andre Ayew apologises to Ghanaians after Black Stars’ shambolic performance at 2021 Afcon; insists Ghana didn’t have luck

The Black Stars skipper has admitted they were utterly poor at the Afcon but believes some of the goals conceded were due to sheer luck

Ghana captain Andre Ayew says they will have to apologise to Ghanaians following the poor display at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations ongoing in Cameroon.

The Black Stars surprisingly lost 3-2 to minnows Comoros on final day of the group stage, a result which condemned Ghana to the bottom of Group C and sent them packing early for the first time since 2006

DISSOLVE THE BLACK STARS AND USE NEXT THREE YEARS TO BUILD A SOLID TEAM – Wilson Agbesi

The Ghana Football Association ( GFA ) is been advice to dissolve the current Black Stars Team and use next three years to build a solid Team for the country .

In an interview with Akakpo Agodji of Ashh fm right after the Ghana and Comoros last group match of the ongoing AFCON 2021 which Comoros won by 3: 2 denying the black stars proceeding to the next stage of the tournament , The Secretary General of the Ghana Wheelchair Basketball Federation (GWBF) , Wilson Yao Agbesi has expressed his disappointment about the Stars lost to Comoros , the outspoken Secretary General indicated that he still can’t believe the performance of the stars in this particular AFCON .

This is a team that have been given the needed support to enable them win the Cup for the Country, this is a team that have presented $25 million budget to the powers that be and quickly the funds have been raised for them to enable them prepare well and also put up a good performance to bring the nation the Cup after 40 years that the Country had not won the AFCON , but you can all agree with me that the Stars performance was nothing to right home about , I think a lot of factors have contributed to the stars performance at the tournament and there is no need for lengthy national debate on this but the best option for the GFA now is to dissolve the team and use next three years to build a solid team for the nation .

Wilson further stated that The Black Stars are been treated as Daddy as compared to other sporting dicisplines in the country !

‘ Honestly we have a lot of sporting disciplines in the country but when you take a critical look at the trend you would see that the Black Stars are been treated like Daddy Bea’s as compared to other sporting disciplines , why am I saying this ? It is only the Black Stars who do not have problem with their budget to the powers that be but other disciplines whose budget is far lower than that of the Black Stars always face the no money problem and on the other hand it is even those sports that bring glory to the country in recent times as much as cups and medals are concerned, eg , Para Sports , Boxing and amputee football just to mention few , later part of last year The Ghana National Amputee Football Team won the African Cup at Tanzania , and the amazing part is they won every single match till final and brought such a glory to the Country .The Amputees went through a lot of difficulties before going into the tournament but really sweat for the country so one will expect the Stars with all the support to put up a good show but is rather unfortunate things turn this way .

He concluded by calling on Ghanaians to take it easy on the team by not attacking them with words and insults that will bring their moral down but rather join the campaign by calling on the GFA to dissolve the team and use next three years to build a a solid team .

Recap: “Milovan Rajevac is a proven coach not matra makwɛ [like other coaches],” Kurt Okraku heaps praise

The Serbian had the trust of the country’s football governing body’s chief before he was unveiled but he failed to live up to the expectations

Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku heaped praise on Milovan Rajevac during his unveiling in November 2021.

The 68-year-old was described as a proven coach by Okraku who had issues with former coach C.K Akonnor since the latter to him was very poor.

However, Milovan has let the FA boss down since Ghana failed to win any of their games in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and were kicked out following a 3-2 defeat to minnows Comoros.

“The Ghana Football Association has named Milovan Rajevach as the new Coach of the Senior National team, the Black Stars. The 67-year-old makes a return to the team after an 11- year absence following his departure in 2010,” a GFA statement read three months ago.

“Rajevac replaces Charles Akonnor, who was relieved of his post two weeks ago following an erratic start to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Ghana scored three points in their initial two Group G qualifiers earlier this month and would have to win the next two games to get the campaign back on track.

“His immediate assignment is next month’s double header against Zimbabwe. Ghana will take on the Warriors in Cape Coast on Saturday, October 9, before departing for the return leg in Harare three days later.

“Rajevac will also lead Ghana to the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon,” the statement added.

He was the previous Ghana manager from the year 2008 until 2010, which included the World Cup in South Africa. Rajevac previously worked in Qatar, Algeria and Thailand.

“I’ll not resign, I want to qualify Ghana to 2022 World Cup,” says Milovan Rajevac

Having failed to qualify the Black Stars out of their group at the Afcon, the Serbian coach insists that his job is not on the line

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has stressed he will not offer his resignation despite the Black Stars experiencing their worst ever performance at the Africa Cup of Nations since 2006.

Ghana failed to win any of their three games at the 2021 Afcon and bowed out of the tournament at the bottom of Group C having lost to Morocco and Comoros and sharing the spoils with Gabon.

However, Milovan believes he still has an unfinished business with the Black Stars as he feels he is still the right man to qualify them to the 2022 Fifa World Cup to be staged in Qatar later this year.

“I’m not leaving. I want to stay and qualify Ghana to the World Cup,” Milovan said after the defeat to Comoros.

“We didn’t start the game against Comoros how we wanted and we conceded an early goal. It was a poor start for us and and then the red card to Andre Ayew changed everything. I think Comoros deserved this win because they played very well than us,” he added.

Ghana has qualified to the final round of the World Cup qualifiers and would know their opponents in March after a draw by Caf.

Ghana 2-3 Comoros: Ahmed Mogni’s brace sends ‘DISGRACEFUL’ Black Stars back home from 2021 Afcon

The Black Stars failed to progress to the next stage of the Africa Cup of Nations after surprisingly picking just a point in the group stage

Ghana were shockingly defeated 3-2 by Comoros in the final game in Group C of 2021 Africa Cup of Nations ongoing in Garoua, Cameroon on Tuesday.

Milovan Rajevac made a single change in Ghana starting line up to face Comoros as Dreams FC youngster Abdul Issahaku Fatawu started in the absence of midfielder Baba Iddrisu who picked up an injury against Gabon.

The Black Stars need a win at all cost to progress to the knockout stage either as the runners up of the group or one of the best four third-place countries but failed to make the most out of the opportunity.

E. F. B. Nabouhane shot Comoros into the lead very early in the game as he connected a pass from I. Youssouf to put the minnows in front by the fourth minute.

Ghana’s woes were compounded after skipper Andre Ayew was sent off off on 25th minute following a rush challenge on the Comoros goalkeeper.

After the break, Comoros doubled their lead on 64th minute through Ahmed Mogni and looked like they were heading into

However, substitute Richmond Boakye Yiadom pulled one back for Ghana by the 64th minute with a powerful header.

Strasbourg defender Alexander Djiku pulled even for the Black Stars by the 76th minute after he tapped in from a Partey’s header as Ghana pushed men forward in search of the winner.

Comoros capitalised on the Black Stars high pressing game and Ahmed Mogni scored his second of the day to break the hearts of the Ghanaians.

Milovan Rajevac makes three changes in Ghana squad to face Comoros; Yiadom, Kamaldeen benched as Philimon Baffour & others to start

The Dreams FC full-back has been given the opportunity to make his bow for the Black Stars in the make or break encounter

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has made three changes in the squad to face Comoros in the last game of Group C of 2021 Africa Cup of Nations ongoing in Cameroon.

Reading defender Andy Yiadom has been benched following his poor defending that led to the equalizer by Gabon in the 1-1 stalemate last week.

In his absence, Dreams FC defender Philimon Baffour has been surprisingly given the chance to fill the void and prove to Ghanaians why he has always been called to the national team.

In midfield, Sherif Tilarspol midfielder Edmund Addo starts alongside Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey after Baba Iddrisu failed to recover from the hamstring injury he sustained against Gabon.

Also, Fatawu Issahaku of Dreams FC will start the game for the first time in the tournament after Kamaldeen Sulemana was benched due to poor run of performance.

Ghana need a win at all cost to progress to the knockout stage either as the runners up of the group or one of the best four third-place countries.
