Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum wins GPL coach of the Month of January

The Porcupine Warriors manager has been named as the coach of the month of January following his side’s wonderful performance in Ghana Premier League

Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum Narteh has been adjudged Ghana Premier League Coach of the Month of January following his side’s incredible performance in the period under review.

Nartey shrugged off competitions from Karela United coach Bismark Kobby Mensah whose side had three wins and two draws from five matches as well as Kassim Mingle of Bechem United who led the Hunters to pick two wins and three draws from five matches.

Also, Medeama boss, Umar Abdul Rabi was among the shortlisted coaches as his side won three and lost one of their six matches last month.

Ogum had an incredible run as Kotoko won four games and had one draw from five games in January. They defeated Aduana Stars at Dormaa Ahenkro for the first time before adding regional rivals Ashanti Gold Medeama and Great Olympics to their casualties as they seized the top spot of the log.

Kotoko currently lead the Premier League table with 40 points, nine points better than Great Olympics who sit second on the log.

Ogum will start the month of March with a difficult fixture as Kotoko travel to Fosu Gyeabour Park in Bechem to lock horns with Bechem United next week Tuesday.

FIFA/UEFA suspend Russian clubs and national teams from all competitions

Following the initial decisions adopted by the FIFA Council and the UEFA Executive Committee, which envisaged the adoption of additional measures, FIFA and UEFA have today decided together that all Russian teams, whether national representative teams or club teams, shall be suspended from participation in both FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice.

These decisions were adopted today by the Bureau of the FIFA Council and the Executive Committee of UEFA, respectively the highest decision-making bodies of both institutions on such urgent matters.

Football is fully united here and in full solidarity with all the people affected in Ukraine. Both Presidents hope that the situation in Ukraine will improve significantly and rapidly so that football can again be a vector for unity and peace amongst people.

Nana Yaw Amponsah was appointed as the CEO in 2020 with a three-year mandate which expires in 2023 but he says he is not ready to talk about another term when his tenure expires.

Ghana government’s V8 vehicle falls into Odaw River in Accra

The vehicle veered into the river early hours of Monday and it took several hours before it was finally taken out

A Toyota Land Cruiser V8 vehicle believed to be a property of Ghana plunged into the Odaw River at Circle, Accra, early hours of Monday morning.

Although, it is still unclear what led the accident, the car with registration number GV 2400-16 lost its way and crushed into the river.

The V8 fell in Odaw River

However, no deaths have been reported but the good news is that it has been lifted from the river and sent to an unknown location possibly for maintenance.

The driver of the vehicle has also been sent to a nearby hospital for first aid and medical check up.

It took an army of soldiers to guide to make way for Asante Kotoko players before they could easily board their bus and leave since supporters were too excited and wanted to have a feel of their stars

Asante Kotoko defeated Dreams FC 2-0 on matchday eighteen of Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday and it was all joyful moment after the game.

There was no hue or cry but rather unending jubilation from the supporters and one would have to understand them at a point.

Their club has now opened up a ten-point gap between them and Bechem United who sit second place while they are fourteen points ahead of their bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak.

The dream of winning the Premier League title this season seems to gradually becoming a reality and the supporters wanted to have enough time to celebrate the win with their players.

It was Cameroonian striker Etouga Mbella who scored the first goal after 72 minutes of an end to end action where Kotoko could’ve gone down by two goals or more if Dreams FC were more purposeful upfront.

Etouga added another goal by 82nd minute after a through pass from Richmond Lamptey. Although, his initial shot was denied by the goal post, he was at the right place at the right time to tap in the rebound.

The Porcupine Warriors are hoping to return to winning ways against Dreams after sharing the spoils goalless against Hearts of Oak last weekend

Asante Kotoko host Dreams FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday in the first game of the second round of the 2021/22 season.

After drawing goalless with Hearts of Oak last weekend, Prosper Ogum Narteh is expecting his charges to double their efforts and win this game.

Kotoko are leading the league table with 37 points, seven points better than Bechem United who sit second place, while they are eleven points ahead of Hearts of Oak.
