Top Asante Kotoko midfielder ruled out for two months due to injury relay

The Porcupine Warriors will once again miss the services of their midfielder after picking up an injury ahead of the start of the season

Asante Kotoko midfielder Mudasiru Salifu will likely be out of the club’s first five games of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season after picking up a metatarsal bone injury during the club’s pre-season tour in Koforidua.

Mudasiru, 23, was highly tipped by a lot of pundits and commentators to be the engine room of Kotoko’s midfield after series of inspiring performances in the truncated season.

However, coach Maxwell Konadu will have to look elsewhere as the player is likely to go under knife in the coming days to correct the problem suffered.

With Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama da Silva and Kwame Adom Frimpong as well as Latif Anabila, Muniru Sulley, Emmanuel Keyekeh and Emmanuel Sarkodie available, Konadu can alter his plans and formation with any of them.

Kuami Eugene unhappy after Sarkodie ‘deceived’ him to endorse NPP in Happy Day song

The fast-rising artist has expressed his dissatisfaction after realising that the rapper has deceived him to endorse the ruling political party

Ghana’s reigning Artist of the Year Kuami Eugene has admitted that he is disappointed after a song he featured on has been tagged as a campaign song for National Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2020 general elections.

In a song by award-winning rapper Sarkodie titled Happy Day, Kuami Eugene sang the chorus. However, little did Eugue know that Sarkodie was going to endorse NPP as he said in the song that “if he can sleep comfortably in his room devoid of constant power shortage and has his children attending schools freely, then Nana Akufo-Addo should continue as the president until 2024.”

“Sarkodie deceived me to be on a song which he was actually going to look like it was to endorse Nana Akufo-Addo,” Eugene said in an interview with Stacy.

“Actually, we did this song to thank God and not to endorse NPP. I feel a little betrayed because this wasn’t what we agreed on. However, I will not sue a senior colleague.

“If indeed he has taken 500k cedis to give this song to NPP then I will not sue him for the deceit but go to his house for my money

“Sarkodie has insisted after my management contacted him that this song was not an endorsement to take money but he wanted to voice out what he felt?” he added.

Eugene was voted as the Artist of The Year at the 2020 Ghana Music Awards held a couple of months ago.

StarTimes to telecast Aduana vs Hearts on Matchday one; Kotoko to appear on TV later

Aduana Stars Football Club and Accra Hearts of Oak will headline the fixture list for Matchday One of the 2020/2021 football season on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the Nana Agyemang Badu I park at Dormaa.

The two former League Champions will battle each other on the first weekend of fixtures for the new season, a game that would be broadcasted live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247 and Max TV at 3pm.

Aduana Stars – two-time League Champions, have been tipped as one of the favourites for the title, because of their superior home record. The Ogya lads also boast of the some of the finest talents on the domestic front. They come across as a team with loads of experience, with the likes of Yahaya Mohammed, Caleb Amankwaa, Emmanuel Akuoko, Justice Anane, Farouk Adams, Bright Adjei and Samuel Bio.

The Dormaa lads have an outstanding home record against both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, but that home invisibility nearly hit a jolt last season when the two sides met. Hearts of Oak managed to snatch a point at the Nana Agyemang Badu I park.

The Phobians have made some acquisitions to bolster their squad. Goalkeeper Richard Atta, has been immense for them since his arrival from Elmina Sharks last season. Atta, put in a good display in the 2019/2020 season to earn a place in the Black Stars.

Hearts of Oak would heavily rely on the experience of Emmanuel Nettey, Frederick Ansah Botchway, Mohammed Alhassan, Fataw Mohammed and returnee Nuru Sulley.

One area of concern for the Phobians is in attack, following the departure of Joseph Esso to Dreams FC and Kofi Kordzie to Qatari side Muaither SC. But Abednego Tetteh could be their saviour. The former Bechem United forward, joined the Phobians last season.

Matches between the two sides at Dormaa have always been a crowed puller and a keenly contested one. Statistics have shown that Aduana Stars versus Hearts of Oak games is one of the most viewed ties in the domestic calendar.

The ‘battle between Samuel Fabin and Edward Nii Odoom’ will be the first game to be broadcasted live on Television.

Agyemang Badu blames Kotoko management after failed contract extension talks

The centre back has opened up on why he failed to extend his contract with the Porcupine Warriors ahead of the 2020/21 season

Former Asante Kotoko defender Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has opened the lid on the reasons behind his decision to mutually part ways with the club ahead of the upcoming season.

The youngster, who was coming back from an injury relay, saw his contract expiring and although reports suggested that he was close to extend his stay, he insists the offer from Kotoko was too poor to commit his future to and has decided to play his trade outside Ghana.

“I didn’t want to continue with my career in Ghana that’s why I couldn’t register for Kotoko. As a young player, I can rate my performance 85% with my stint with Kotoko,” Agyemang-Badu Ashh FM

“The offer from Kotoko to me wasn’t reasonable that’s why I didn’t continue with Kotoko. I now want to head elsewhere outside the country.

“I will wish all the current players of Kotoko the best of luck but I will miss ex-Kotoko young chap Mathew Anim Cudjoe since he has also joined Legon Cities FC,” he added.

Agyemang Badu arrived at Kotoko two seasons ago from lower-tier Phar Rangers and was part of the squad that sent Kotoko to their first group stage appearance in Caf Confederation Cup after almost ten years absence.

The youngster was in a fine form when Kabwe picked a vital away point in the national league on Sunday

Ghana youth midfielder Evans Oduro played the full throttle when Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy shared the spoils goalless with Zesco Shockers in the Zambia Division One League on Sunday.

The 20-year-old started the game on left side of the midfield and helped his side to keep the hosts away from their penalty area.

By the 72nd minute, Oduro set up his teammate by playing him through but the striker surprisingly sent his effort wide.

Three minutes later, Oduro saw his long range effort blocked by the hosts’ backline. He will be expected to start once again next weekend when they play at home.

The Porcupine Warriors have announced the signing of the midfielder on Monday after finally receiving his documents

Muniru’s deal was expected to be completed on transfer deadline day but had last minute delay as his ITC delayed but it was finally completed on Monday afternoon.

Having had stints with Portuguese side Tondela, Turkish Super Lig side Yeni Malatyaspor and Dinamo Minsk, Muniru comes on board with a lot of experience as Kotoko hope to win 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title as well as qualify to the group stages of Caf Champions League.

Muniru has become the eleventh signing made by Kotoko after the arrival of Ghana goalkeeper Razak Abalora, Patrick Asmah, Fabio da Silva Gama, Andrew Appau, among others.

C.K Akonnor is wrong, Baba Rahman doesn’t deserve Ghana call up, coach Sarpong reacts

The experience gaffer believes the defender comes no where near to be given a Black Stars call up ahead of the game against Sudan

Former Asante Kotoko coach J.E Sarpong has insisted that Chelsea defender Abdul Baba Rahman shouldn’t have been named as part of Ghana’s squad that will face Sudan in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The defender has been inactive at Chelsea after he was not even registered by head coach Frank Lampard but C.K Akonnor surprisingly handed him a call up, insisting that he has been playing with Chelsea’s youth team.

“My problem with CK Akonnor’s selection has to do with that of Baba Rahman,” Sarpong said, as quoted by KYFilla.

“Has Baba Rahman been consistent with his team [Chelsea] this season? If it’s because he plays for the reserve side of Chelsea and has earned a call up to represent Ghana, then it’s a big no from my end,” he added.

Ghana will host Sudan on November 12 before they travel to Khartoum five days later for the return fixture.
