Details: Why Asamoah Gyan’s Legon Cities may lose protest & suffer relegation

The Ghana’s all-time topscorer’s side looked like one of the clubs that was safe from relegation problems but the latest twist could see them heading to Division One League

Big spenders Legon Cities who have Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan in their setup may have their stay in Ghana Premier League cut short after Elmina Sharks’ protest against them keep gaining ground.

On Tuesday, Sharks were reportedly put evidences together and filed a protest against their former player Issaka Mohammed who crossed carpet to Legon Cities a couple of months ago.

The Elmina-based club’s top hierarchy argued that despite defeating Legon 2-0 last weekend, Issaka, who played the entire duration for Legon, was unqualified to take part of the game therefore their opponents must suffer further punishments.

They explained that while Issaka was part of their players in the first round, he picked up two yellow cards and did not serve the mandatory one match ban even after picking one additional caution when he joined Legon as a free agent in the second half of the season.

Issaka picked his first caution of the season at Sharks on week five against Ashanti Gold after lasting 72 minutes. He was also booked on matchday seven against Karela United- a game he played 79 minutes.
His third caution of the season was when he played for Legon against WAFA on matchday 25 and lasted 52 minutes.

In spite of the above, Issaka was used by Legon in their next game against Aduana Stars which violated Articles 28 and 33 of the Premier League regulations.
The rules states that:

“28.1. An unqualified player is:
(e) A player who has received a caution in three league matches.

Article 33 (1) A team commits an offence punishable by forfeiture of a match where:

(e) it fields an unqualified player(s) or team Official(s).

Article 33 [5). In addition to the sanctions provided in clauses 2 and 3 above in respect of offences
33(1)(a) to 33(1)(e) and 33(1)(f) respectively, the following sanctions shall apply;
(a) The defaulting club shall lose 3 points from the club’s accumulated points from other previous matches.”

Therefore, despite Legon currently sitting 14th on the log with 39 points and have a game at home against Eleven Wonders on final day, they will be relegated should Ghana FA’s disciplinary committee finds them guilty of the charge. This has becone obvious because at least, three points will be deducted from their accumulated points and a even win over Wonders will still do a little for their survival.

As it stands now, only Inter Allies have been confirmed as relegated and two clubs – including King Faisal, Elmina Sharks, Legon, Liberty Professionals and Ebusua Dwarfs- will join them to the lower tier division.

Asamoah Gyan & Legon Cities on the brink of relegation following Sharks’ protest

The Royals could head to the lower tier should they lose the protest filed against them by Elmina Sharks

Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan could be heading to relegation with Legon Cities few months after joining them as they battle relegation in Ghana Premier League.

The Royals need a win at all cost against Eleven Wonders on final day to survive the relegation scare as they are fourteenth on the log with 39 points.

However, their troubles could move from bad to worse following a last minute protest made against one of their players by Elmina Sharks -16th on the log- who are also looking for all available options to stay up this season.

Although, Sharks defeated Legon 2-0 in matchday 33 last weekend, they have still filed a protest against Legon’s defender Issaka Mohammed whom they insist was ineligible to play part of the game. They want the disciplinary committee to deduct three points from their accumulated points.

According to a report by Asempa FM, the top hierarchy of Sharks have argued that Issaka left their club to join Legon ahead of the second round of the season and was already having three accumulated yellow cards with the last one coming in their 1-0 defeat to WAFA on matchday 25 in Sogakope.

However, since Issaka joined Legon, he has been ever present in all their games and played full throttle which they claim is contrary to what the rules of the game suggest.

Should the disciplinary committee finds Legon guilty of the offence, they will be docked three points which will leave them with 36 points and a win of any margin against Wonders on the last day of the season will do little to save Asamoah Gyan and Legon.

Gyan, despite his immense impact off the field for the club, has failed to live up to the expectations on the field. The Ghana’s all-time top scorer is yet to score a goal for the club after several appearances this season.

Hearts of Oak crowned Ghana Premier League champions

The Phobians are the new winners of the top-flight for the first time in twelve years

Hearts of Oak have been officially crowned the winners of 2020/21 Ghana Premier League with a game to spare despite sharing the spoils 1-1 with Liberty Professionals at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Following Asante Kotoko’s 2-1 away defeat to Bechem United, Hearts of Oak have won their first Ghana Premier League title since 2009 ahead of last round of matches since they now lead the log four points.

The Phobians, who have used over 20 coaches enroute to winning the title, including four different coaches this season, will play WAFA on final day at Sogakope.

Hearts under coach Samuel Boadu have played 17 games, winning eleven, losing twice and sharing the spoils four times.

Messi’s Argentina beat Brazil to win 2021 Copa America

On Saturday night, Argentina’s 28-year wait for an international trophy came to a halt finally thanks to Angel Di Maria’s first half goal, and Lionel Messi has finally won a major tournament with his country thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Brazil at the Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro to win the 2021 Copa América.

The Albiceleste played an excellent first half, and went ahead thanks to a SPECTACULAR long ball from Rodrigo De Paul to find Ángel Di María, who lobbed Ederson to give his country the lead.

Argentina have followed the exact same gameplan for the entire tournament: score early and defend their lead with tough, physical defense and a whole lot of heart. And that is what the Albiceleste did when Brazil threw everything forward to start the second half.
Richarlison had a goal disallowed and then a huge chance that required a brilliant save from Emi Martínez in what was a 15-minute siege from the Seleção.

After managing to weather the early storm, Argentina began retreating deeper and deeper in their own half and started wasting time with some rough tackles that took Brazil out of their rhythm.
Then Messi had a giant chance one-on-one with Ederson after a fantastic through ball by Rodrigo De Paul but missed it, and Martínez needed to make a monster save to stop Gabigol from scoring the equalizer.

Injury time was all about Argentina running out the clock, and they did it successfully. The final whistle came, and so did the tears on Lionel Messi’s face. He has finally done it for his nation, and he caps one of the greatest individual tournament performances in history with a trophy he has long deserved.

11-year-old boy earns physics degree at Antwerp University

An 11-year-old boy has obtained a bachelor’s degree in physics at the University of Antwerp, after successfully completing a three-year course in one year, whilst also taking master’s courses on the side.

The young graduate, Laurent Simons, from Oostende on the Flemish coast, outperformed other students by getting the highest distinction possible.

“Simons has been studying for his bachelor’s degree in physics since March 2020, and he now graduated with 85%, which is the highest distinction,” said an Antwerp University spokesperson.

“This year, he also took some courses from the master’s programme. After the summer, he will officially start his master’s degree,” the spokesperson said.

Simons said he put all other work on hold to take courses on classical mechanics and quantum physics, as he “wanted to know everything about these subjects right away.”

“Immortality, that is my goal. I want to be able to replace as many body parts as possible with mechanical parts. I have mapped out a path to get there. Quantum physics – the study of the smallest particles – is the first piece of the puzzle,” he said.

“Two things are important in such a study: acquiring knowledge and applying that knowledge. To achieve the second, I want to work with the best professors in the world, look inside their brains and find out how they think,” Simons added.

The “child prodigy” previously studied at UGent and TU Eindhoven, where he already obtained credits, meaning he could obtain his bachelor’s degree with a shorter programme at Antwerp University.

Simons first studied at TU Eindhoven when he was nine years old, and would have been the youngest person ever to obtain a diploma in higher education, however, he left due to disagreements with the Dutch university before graduating.

Bofoakwa Tano wins protest against Unity FC; set to qualify to Premier League ahead of RTU

The Otobela lads have their noses in front to make it out of Zone 1 to the elite committee

Ghana Football Association’s disciplinary committee has ruled in favour of Bofoakwa Tano following their protest against Unity FC.

The Sunyani-based club has been awarded three points and three goals and could be heading g straight to Ghana Premier League as they lead Real Tamale United six points with three matches to go although the latter has an outstanding case against B.A United which is yet to be heard.

Statement of fact:

Bofoakwa Tano FC (the Petitioner) protested against Unity FC for presenting Nana
Yaw Mustapha as the Head Coach though according to the Petitioner he is not
qualified to handle a Division One League Club per the GFA Rules and Regulations.
It is also the case of the Petitioner that, the Respondent’s Club President Richmond
Osei who was on the bench of Unity FC and in the inner perimeter has been banned
by the GFA Ethics Committee from taking part in all football related activities for a
period of five months.
The Petitioner argued that the Head Coach and President of the Unity FC should be
punished for deceiving the GFA in their match against Bofoakwa Tano FC.
According to the Petitioner, a fine of GHc10,000 which was imposed on the President
of Unity FC Richmond Osei has still not been paid.
The Petitioner added that contrary to the decision of the Ethics Committee, Richmond
Osei continues to engage in football related activities.
DEFENCE OF UNITY FC
The Respondent in their Statement of Defence stated that Unity FC did not use an
unqualified coach in their Division One league match against Bofoakwa Tano FC.
According to the Respondent, their coach Emmanuel Ofori Asumadu has not been part
of the Club after a mutual termination of his contract.
The Respondent stated that it was at a loss as to why the Petitioner generated such a
name and included him on their team sheet. According to the Respondent, the 4th Official inspected the cards and names of the Unity FC bench before the start of the
game.
The Respondent also stated that the Club’s President Richmond Osei was banned by
the GFA and has subsequently appealed against the decision with a Stay of Execution.
The Respondent added that Richmond Osei was not with the Team in their Matchday
20 game against Bofoakwa Tano FC.
The Respondent also protested against the unsporting behavior of Alphonse Cudjoe
Agbetsitse and Gilbert Amenano, Director of Operations and Director of Administration
before, during and after the match. It is the contention of the Respondent that the
protest is without merit and should be dismissed.

FINDINGS AND GROUNDS OF THE DECISION
The Petitioner stated that the Respondent should suffer forfeiture for a breach of Article 33.1(e)
of the GFA Division One League Regulations in their Matchday 20 game at the Kenyasi Town
park.
Article 33.1(e) states that:
“A team commits an offence punishable by forfeiture of a match where it fields an
unqualified player(s) or team official(s)”
It is the case of the Petitioner that Unity FC fielded two unqualified officials in the persons of Nana Yaw Mustapha (Coach) and Richmond Osei who is serving a ban from all football related activities.
It was found that in the Competition’s Management System (CMS), the following were the Team Officials for Unity FC in their Matchday 20 game against Bofoakwa Tano FC:

MALIK ABDUL JAAFAR – GHA099361M
ALHASSAN LATIF ABUBAKARI – GHA089739M
IDDRISU ABUBAKARI – GHA123321M
BENJAMIN AMEYAW – GHA099320M
BISMARK ASANTE – GHA089750M
ALEX BOBOLE – GHA099419M
RICHMOND OSEI – GHA099419M

It was also found that the same list has been deposited with the Competitions Department as Team Officials for Unity FC. The Committee finds that the name Nana Yaw Mustapha is not
included in the list and is not named as an official of the Club. The Petitioner failed to provide any evidence to back the claim that Nana Yaw Mustapha, who is NOT an official of Unity FC
was indeed on the team’s bench as Head Coach.
The Committee also noted that both the Referee and the Match Commissioner did not mention in their respective reports that Unity FC had an extra person on their bench contrary to the list they presented to the GFA. The claim by the Petitioner that Nana Yaw Mustapha was on the bench of the Respondent as Head Coach cannot hold.

On Richmond Osei, the Committee found that he was banned by the GFA Ethics Committee
on Monday December 14, 2020 for a period of five months and fined a total amount of
GHc10,000.

The ban on Richmond Osei which started on December 14, 2020 was expected to end on
May 13, 2021. The Committee finds that Richmond Osei was ineligible to be on the bench in their Matchday 20 game against Bofoakwa Tano FC which was played on May 9, 2021.
It was confirmed that Richmond Osei sent a letter to the GFA purporting to appeal against the decision but checks from the Accounts department shows that he failed to pay the required filing fees. Also, the Committee found that contrary to claims by the Respondent, Richmond Osei did not apply for a Stay of Execution and did not pay for same.
In effect, Richmond Osei was still serving a ban from all football related activities when he appeared on the team sheet and also sat on the bench of Unity FC in their match against
Bofoakwa Tano FC. The video recording of the said match clearly indicated that Richmond Osei was seen in the inner perimeter and also sat on the bench of Unity FC. The Committee further found that Richmond Osei failed to comply with the decision of the GFA Ethics
Committee by failing to pay the total fine of GHc10,000 which was imposed on him in the
ruling.
Clearly, Richmond Osei was unqualified to be at the match and unqualified to sit on the bench of Unity FC in their match against Bofoakwa Tano which was played on May 9, 2021.

DECISIONS
The Committee therefore makes the following decisions:
1. It is the holding of this Committee that for allowing an unqualified official, Richmond Osei to sit on its bench in the said match, Unity FC shall forfeit the match.
2. That having forfeited the match, Unity FC shall be considered as having lost the match and accordingly three (3) points and three (3) goals shall be awarded in favour of Bofoakwa Tano FC in accordance with Article 33(2) of the Division One League Regulations.
3. That Unity FC shall lose 3 points from the club’s accumulated points from other
previous matches in accordance with Article 33(5)(b) of the Division One League
Regulations.
4. That Unity FC shall be fined Two Thousand and Five Hundred Ghana Cedis  (GH¢2,500.00), 50% of which shall go to the Bofoakwa Tano FC.
5. That pursuant to Article 33(5)(c) of the Division One League Regulations, Unity
FC is fined an amount of GHc500 as transportation expenses of the away team.
6. That for failing to comply with the decisions of the GFA Ethics Committee,
Richmond Osei is referred to the GFA Prosecutor to be charged.
7. That the fines mentioned in Decisions 4 and 5 above, shall be paid to the GFA
within fourteen (14) days upon receipt of this Ruling, failing which Unity FC shall
forfeit their subsequent matches after the said deadline.

Ghana FA bans Kotoko’s Emmanuel Gyamfi for stamping Andy Akpe

The Fabulous deputy skipper will miss one of their last two games of the season as he serves his ban

Ghana Football Association’s disciplinary committee has found Asante Kotoko deputy captain Emmanuel Gyamfi guilty and has been banned him for a match.

Gyamfi has also been fined GH1000.00 and has three days to make payments to the association’s secretariat.

The former Wa All Stars winger was charged for a breach of Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019. However, Gyamfi has the liberty to appeal to the ruling if he disagrees.

Gyamfi was summoned at the DC after he was caught on tape during the match between Inter Allies FC and Asante Kotoko at the Theatre of Dreams stamping player number 45 of Inter Allies (Andy Okpe) in an off-ball situation around the 65th minute of the game.

It is an action which in the opinion on the
association is improper and likely to bring the game into disrepute.

FULL RULING BY GFA D/C:
Emmanuel Gyamfi is found guilty of the Charges. A fine of GHc1,000 is hereby imposed on Emmanuel Gyamfi in accordance with Article 6.1(c) of the GFA Disciplinary Code That Emmanuel Gyamfi is hereby handed a onematch ban in accordance with Article 12(b) of the GFA Disciplinary Code. Emmanuel Gyamfi is warned that any future misconduct shall receive a more severe punishment

Yes, That Was Really Adam Demos’ Penis in the Sex/Life Shower Scene

If you blink, you’ll miss it.

Netflix doesn’t usually have explicit sex scenes in their dramas, but when they do…steamy is an understatement, y’all. And, Netflix’s latest drama Sex/Life is, well, more erotic than Bridgerton, and that’s saying something.

Inspired by BB Easton’s novel 44 Chapters About 4 Men, Sex/Life follows housewife Billie who ends in a love triangle with her husband Cooper and ex-boyfriend Brad, played by the handsome Adam Demos. The sex scene in question—the one that’ll get you immediately hot and bothered, because there’s more than one, folks—is in episode 3.

Brad and Cooper are showering at the gym, and viewers get a sneak peek of everything, and we mean everything.
Yeah, that’s right—you see Demos’ freaking penis (it’s at 19:50 in case you’re wondering). And, no it’s not a body double or prosthetic.

Demos spoke to Entertainment Weekly and revealed he was entirely comfortable with showing off his junk on television: “I was okay with it because you read the script and know what you’re getting yourself into from the start, so I don’t think you would sign on to a show after reading the scripts and then say no last minute.”

He also added that there was an intimacy coordinator on-set to ensure he (along with his other co-stars) was comfortable with filming every sex scene. “We would have an intimacy coordinator and everyone would speak about it and their comfort levels,” he explained. “You would rehearse it so much that by the time you did it, it was a lot more comfortable than you’d assume. You discuss everything: hand movements, everything down to the breath. In sex scenes, the breathing is an emotional thing, so you’re discussing that journey, but then you’re also discussing each individual’s comfort level.”

And if you’re wondering if the penis scene was necessary, showrunner Stacy Rukeyser says yes.

In an interview with Collider, she said the full-frontal reveal was significant to Cooper’s development because he’s, you know, obsessed with his wife’s ex-boyfriend. “ It was important to show how down the rabbit hole obsessed he has gotten, that he is now stalking his wife’s ex-boyfriend. It’s all internal, there’s no dialogue.”

While we’re not too sure about that explanation, regardless, in case you thought you were going a bit crazy, you definitely saw Adam Demos’ penis in that shower scene.

Hearts 1-0 Asante Kotoko: What the Phobians need to win first trophy since 2009

The Phobians shocked their fierce rivals and could be heading towards glory with three more games to be played

Hearts of Oak defeated Asante Kotoko 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday thanks to Daniel Afriyie Barnie’s 65th minute strike. After several failed attempts, the Phobians got the bragging rights and could even ran away with the league trophy.

The Phobians, who are yet to win a major trophy since 2009, have their noses in front to win this season’s Ghana Premier League as they need to maintain their composure in the remaining three games which include two on the road.

Hearts will now travel to Cape Coast to play Ebusua Dwarfs before they host Liberty at the Accra Sports Stadium and wrap it up with a visit to Sogakope to face WAFA. Samuel Boadu’s charges now need to win two of these games and they will be crowned champions because of superior head-to-head over Kotoko since the first leg ended goalless.

Kotoko, on the other hand, will play King Faisal next at Len Clay Sports Stadium before they trek to Bechem to battle Bechem United and finish the season with a home tie against Elmina Sharks.

The Porcupine Warriors need a lot of favour from Dwarfs, who themselves are also struggling to avoid relegation. Should Dwarfs prevent Hearts from picking a win in Cape Coast, the Phobians must then defeat Liberty at home and WAFA at all cost on final day of the season
