Breaking News: FIFA places transfer ban on USM Algiers for failing to pay Asante Kotoko

The North African club will have to settle the Porcupine Warriors before they can sign a new player

The World’s football governing body, Fifa, has placed a transfer ban on Algerian club USM Alger following their inability to pay Asante Kotoko after purchasing Ghana striker Kwame Opoku.

The 22-year-old joined Alger in March and helped the club to finish in top half of the league but despite several communiques from Kotoko to them.

FIFA initially ordered the Algerian club to pay 300,000 Euros with interest but they could not meet the requirements which has landed them in a serious trouble.

“It’s true I have a lot of offers from different clubs but there are a lot of things involved that is why I chose this club [USM Alger],” Poku said when he signed for Algers.

“After I had offers from other clubs, I didn’t want to go away from Kotoko.

“Because they [Kotoko] were a motivation to me and they told me that USM Alger will really help me develop myself and to also push me as a player. That is why I chose USM Alger,” he added.

Algers cannot sign a player for one season until the settle Asante Kotoko.

Hearts midfielder Benjamin Afutu leaves Ghana for Egypt to sign new deal

The midfielder was spotted at the Kotoka International airport earlier today as he nears a switch to a club in the North African country

Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Benjamin Afutu is on his way to Egypt to sign a bumper deal, AshesGyamera.com understands.

The 22-year-old saw his contract with the Phobians expire in July and although reports suggested that he had been given a new contract to sign, he opted to leave as a free agent.

As a result, Hearts could not register him for their participation in the Caf Champions League – something their head coach Samuel Boadu has been bemoaning.

According to AshesGyamera’s sources, Afutu is expected to sign a three-year deal with newly promoted Egypt Premier League side Eastern Company Sporting Club (El Sharkia Dokhan FC) with an option to extend it with another year.

Afutu is expected to to touch down in Cairo very late on Monday and then undergo his medical at the club’s health and recreational facility.

“Afutu has left Ghana for Egypt and will sign a deal with a cub there baring any unforeseen circumstances,” a source close to the player said as quoted by AshesGyamera.com.

“It was unfortunate that he could not continue with his stay at Hearts of Oak but that was something he had no control over.

“I believe Afutu will be a success in Egypt and make Ghanaians proud. The offer he has on the table looks juicy so obviously, he can do something meaningful with it after his stay,” the source added.

Afutu was an integral part of the Hearts squad that won double – Ghana Premier League and FA Cup – last season and was even nominated for the Player of the Season awards.

Ghanaian women ranked first in the world as ‘most unfaithful’ women; the percentage will shock you

A lot of women from Ghana have admitted to cheating on their husbands and boyfriends for various reasons in a survey recently conducted

A survey carried out by condom producing company Durex on 29,000 women from 36 countries has revealed that women from Ghana and Thailand are at first and second top spots respectively as the world’s most unfaithful lovers.

With Ghana leading the pack with 62 per cent, Thailand took the second place with 59 per cent.

Malaysian women were ranked third as 39 per cent of those interviewed admitted they often cheat on their mates due to several issues ranging from lack of care, trust and money.

In fourth and fifth place were Russia (33 percent) and Singapore (19 percent) respectively.

Among couples cheating on each other, Malaysia trailed behind South Korea and chart-topper Thailand.

On the other hand, the survey on men on similar topic ranked men from Singapore and Hong Kong as being the most promiscuous in Asia, with an average of 16-bed partners in their lifetime.

How do Ghanaians feel about this revelation?

We asked a number of them in the Tri-State area and the general verdict was that of shock and consternation. “That is a preposterous conclusion. What were the yardsticks they used in conducting their poll? How many women did they talk to and what scientific methods did they employ to arrive at such a sweeping verdict? While not completely absolving our women from indulging in certain shenanigans, I would say we, Ghana women are not the most notorious in that regard. I have friends from other ethnicities who are married, and at the same time keep multiple lovers, and I, happily married to my husband for ten years now, have only strayed once, and why I did that was because we were having problems that appeared intractable at the time. Since my husband and I got back together, I have never cheated on him and don’t intend to.” Linda, who asked that I keep her last name out of print, had told me.

To Kwesi–a business owner in Hartford, Connecticut, such definition serves the women right “It has been a known fact within our community and even in our native country that our women have not been faithful to their husbands.

Here in the Diaspora, you can’t tell your wife to keep away from certain associations, she will lash out at you, and tell you to mind your business that she is an adult, and knows how to take care of herself- including knowing when to say no to an amorous overtures. It is so depressing to so defined, I hope they will take or two things from this survey and give respect to their marital status.”

“I think the poll is spot-on” a lady who had pleaded to remain anonymous had told me. “I am not proud to say it; a lot of our married women sleep around. At least among my circle of friends- we have at one point or the other maintained other relationships.

Sometimes, the driving impulse may not even be for material gains, but for the thrill of it. But we are not different from other Africans. I know some Nigerian friends of mine, who are married too, but have lovers outside. I think our men should find the revelation a means to challenge themselves and ask what it is they are doing that is not right.

I don’t think a woman will willingly go out there to cheat on her husband if the ‘game’ is tight at home, if you know what I mean”

Milovan Rajevac reveals how Ghana Premier League players will have chance in Black Stars

The Serbian has insisted that he will give equal opportunities to players both home and abroad as he returns to the West African country

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has revealed that locally-based players, especially those plying their trade in Ghana Premier League will have their chance to represent the country with the Black Stars.

The 67-year-old believes the local boys have the quality to make the grade just like their counterparts in Europe.

“Only their performance will get them selected in the team”, Milovan Rajevac said.

“You remember Daniel Yeboah played for Liberty Professionals at that time and he played the first game against Lesotho which he even started.

“Their performance is what will recommend them to be selected in the team. Every Ghanaian can play for the national team and that is how it should be. I and my assistants will see, watch and cover so we can pick the best. Players talk on the pitch,” he added.

Milovan further revealed that he will be sharing ideas regarding national team call ups with the Black Stars management committee in order to get the best players for assignments.

“I’m ready to share ideas with management on call ups to the national team but when it comes to the final decision, I will be the one to do that,” he said.

Andre Ayew scores third consecutive goal for Al Sadd

The Black Stars skipper scored his third goal on the row for the Qatari giants on Sunday as he continues to prove his mettle in the Middle East

Ghana captain Andre Ayew continued his fine form in the Middle East as he scored his third goal of the season for Al Sadd in their 7-2 drubbing of Al Shamal in the Qatari Premier League at the Jassmin Bin Hamad Stadium on Sunday evening.

Ayew retained his place in the Al Sadd squad and after a pulsating opening ten minutes, he finally found an opening to score.

The former Swansea City star latched on to a pass from a teammate and calmly slotted in his effort by the 15th minute.

Although, Ayew had an incredible game, he was substituted by coach Xavi Hernandez by the 75th minute mark. His place was taken by Hasan Al Haydos.

The performance by Ayew means that he has scored three goals on the bounce after sealing a two-year deal with Al Sadd from Swansea City two months ago.

With the international break gradually approaching, Ghana new coach Milovan Rajevac would be hoping that Ayew will maintain his performance before the Black Stars face Zimbabwe in a double header of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers next month.

Ghana will play as hosts to Zimbabwe on October 5 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium before they travel to Harare for the reverse fixture four days later.

The Black Stars sit second on the Group G log with three points, one point behind South Africa after two games.
