The youngster has landed an opportunity to prove his worth with the Super Division side as they hope to avoid relegation
Zambian Premier League side Kabwe Youth Academy have confirmed that they have signed Ghanaian wonder kid Evans Oduro after reaching an agreement with lower divison side Final Whistle Soccer Academy.
The 20-year-old signed a one-and-half-a-year contract and he is set to make his debut on August 2 in an away game against Green Buffalos when the league resumes after the long break due to Coronavirus disease.
Oduro, after a short stint in South Africa with Pretoria City Soccer Academy, caught the eye of Kabwe’s scouts and joined them on a two-week trial before he cemented his place with his skills and split defence passes.
Speaking to AshesGyamera.com, Oduro recounted his early disappointment outside Ghana and believes this is a golden opportunity to prove himself to his club’s top hierarchy.
“I’m very excited to have been given this opportunity to play in the Zambia top-flight. I’ve worked really hard to earn this chance and I won’t disappoint,” he said.
“I thank the club’s top hierarchy for the belief they had in me during my initial stay when I was having my trial. I thank them and hope to repay their faith and make the supporters proud,” he added.
Oduro’s first home game at Geodfrey Chitalu Stadium will likely be against Mufulira Wanderers on August 6.
