The midfielder-turned-defender claims the Egyptian has been in a top form but still not close to Ronaldo and Messi’s class
Juventus star Kwadwo Asamoah believes Egyptian international Mohamed Salah has done enough this season with Liverpool but hasn’t reached the level of Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona poster boy Lionel Messi.
Salah ended the 2017-18 Premier League campaign as the topscorer after netting 32 goals, two more than Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and was also adjudged as the PFA Player of the Year.
Following this feature, a section of football pundits and connoisseurs have predicted that he can match Ronaldo and Messi to break their dominance as the Fifa World Best Player for the past decade but Asamoah who has been hugely linked to Inter Milan has other ideas.
“Mohamed salah has performed creditably well in the year under review but I dont think he has reached the level of [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo,” Asamoah told Atinka FM.
“We’re all proud of him and I’m not really surprised with how he has performed this season because he has previously exhibited such potentials [only that the goals have been many thanks before],” he added.
Salah will have another opportunity to exhibit his qualities at the highest stage as he is part of the Egypt squad that will play in the 2018 Fifa World Cup holding in Russia.
