The youngster made history for himself as he became the youngest player ever to make an appearance in American sports league
Real Monarchs midfielder Axel Kei made history on Friday when he became the youngest player ever to play in a professional American sports league.
The 13-year-old was a second-half substitute for Real Monarchs when he came on for Bobby Wood in the 61st minute as his side shared the spoils goalless against Switchbacks FC.
Kei was 13 years, 9 months and 9 days old upon entering a second-division match against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
He was presented with a late chance to win the game for Monarchs by the 85th minute but a Colorado Springs defender saved the situation.
Kei was born in the Ivory Coast in December 2007 he moved to the United States at a young age with his parents to seek greener pastures.
