The Porcupine Warriors boss has opened up on the tactics and general performance of his side following the victory over WAFA

Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum Narteh has shed light on players’ indiscipline and tactical awareness after the victory over WAFA on matchday 27 of Ghana Premier League at the RedBull Arena in Sogakope on Saturday.

A brilliant second half goal from Cameroonian striker Mbella Etouga was all that Kotoko needed to end their poor run of results recently and also pick their first-ever win against WAFA away at Sogakope.

Prior to the game, two players – Imoro Ibrahim and Richard Boadu – of Kotoko’s starting XI were suspended due to accumulated yellow cards but defender Patrick Asmah was also suspended by the club until the end of the season after a training ground bust up with the coach.

Asmah committed a schoolboy penalty against RTU which contributed to the defeat as well as having a terrible performance when he came on as a substitute against Legon Cities.

“If you look at the RTU and Legon Cities game, this more better, more compact, more teamwork, more disciplined and more determine to win comparatively to the RTU and Cities game,” Ogum said as quoted by AshesGyamera.com

“I think they looked very disciplined on the touchline. They played with my voice. Tactically, what we did throughout the week and especially what we did yesterday with respect to how WAFA was going to play; let’s allow them to play the ball and make sure that when we get the ball we transition quickly.

“The game itself we created more chances against WAFA which is unusual when you play at Sogakope but then we allowed them to play. It was one of those transitions that Appau gave that penetrating pass [to Etouga] because they were all shutting the lines and coming deep.

“We got the ball, one to recieve, two to pass and he broke the defensive line and we got it so tactically they were discipline today,” he added.
