The Black Stars will begin their preparations next month for the upcoming qualifiers as they hope to make it to the World Cup
Ghana coach C.K Akonnor has named a 30-man squad for the upcoming 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa without Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Razak Abalora.
The shot-stopper was dropped after series of mistakes in the Black Stars last two friendly games played against Morocco and Cote d’ivoire in July.
Making a return to the squad is Columbus Crew captain Jonathan Mensah and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard who just recovered from a troublesome injury.
Notable names that had their names mainted in the squad were Al Sadd new signee Andre Ayew and his brother Jordan Ayew.
Also, Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Attah has been handed his maiden call up and could even make his debut following his heroics performance. Also, Hearts midfielder Afriyie Barnie has been handed a call up after that consistent performance which helped the Phobians to win double this season.
Interestingly, Abdul Ganiu remains the only Kotoko player in the squad since the club failed to live up to the expectations.
Ghana will host Ethiopia in Group G opener on Friday, September 3 in Cape Coast, before they travel to Johannesburg to lock horns with South Africa four days later in a make or break encounter.
