Ghana Police arrest Shatta Wale for allegedly faking his death through gunshots

Ghana Police Service has officially confirmed the arrest of Dancehall artist Shatta Wale following rumours that he has been shot dead by an unknown assassin which later proved that he feigned the incident to only trend on social media.

Although, Shatta Wale defended why he took that decision and insisted that a lot of fake pastors have recently prophesied doom about him and he only took a precautionary measure to draw attention to such things.

However, he was charged with causing fear and panic as a lot of Ghanaians were worried about the untrue news of the gunshot incident.

“Shatta Wale and one other person popularly referred to as ‘Deportee’ are currently being pursued for their possible involvement and knowledge of the circulation of false information with the intention to cause fear and panic.

“No one will be spared if Police investigations point to their possible criminal culpability in this matter.

“We want to caution any individual or group to desist from making false claims and engaging in acts, capable of disturbing the peace of the country because the law will come after you,” part of the earlier statement from the Ghana Police read.

Later in the evening of Tuesday, the Police released another statement and pictures confirming that Shatta was indeed arrested and would be under investigations.

“Police Have Arrested Charles Nii Armah Mensah Populary Known as Shatta Wale,” a Ghana Police Service statement read.

“The Police have arrested Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale. After we publicly declared him and one other person wanted, the suspect, Shatta Wale, turned himself in today Tuesday 19th October, 2021, at 8.59pm.

“He has been arrested to assist the Police in investigations for his alleged involvement in the creation and circulation of information intended to cause fear and panic.

“As stated in previous statements, the public is advised to desist from publishing false information, capable of disturbing the peace of the country or risk being arrested and prosecuted,” the statement added.
