Former Ghana Premier League topscorer and best player Augustine Okrah has joined Indian Super League side NorthEast United FC, AshesGyamera.com can exclusively reveal.
The 24-year-old who mutually terminated his contract with Egyptian club Smouha few months ago, was linked with several clubs in Tunisia and Morocco including Esperance de Tunisia ahead of the new season.
However, he opted for India to team up with his former coach Eelco Schattorie, whom he played under during 2011-12 season at Red Bull Academy in Ghana.
Okrah is now the third foeigner to join the Guwahati-based club after Nigerian Bartholomew Ogbeche and Uruguayan Juan Cruz Mascia as NorthEast United hope to cause troubles to opponents with their youthful squad.
The former Asante Kotoko and Bechem United midfielder is expected to join his teammates this week at training after he was officially introduced to them on Monday as they are expected to travel to Turkey for their pre-season tour since the league will start in October.
