The Italy-based forward has called on Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars as they kick start the road to make it to 2022 Fifa World Cup

Ghana forward Emmanuel Gyasi says they will need the support of Ghanaians on Friday as they begin the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars have been pitted in Group G and will open their journey with a game against Ethiopia at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Friday.

The 27-year-old, who is likely to start on the left wing of attack in C.K Akonnor’s squad, believes a good start will propel the country to stand in a pole position to qualify from the group.

“I am happy to be back for the World Cup qualifiers,” Gyasi told the media on Thursday.

“As for the team, we will try to put a good performance against Ethiopia and South Africa in order to win the games against Ethiopia and South Africa

“We need to qualify for the World Cup and the journey begin from now,” he added.

Gyasi arrived in Ghana on Monday from Italy and was among the players who began to training session at the McDan Park in Accra before they moved to Cape Coast on Wednesday.

He made his bow against South Africa in April and has since gone on to play two games for the Black Stars.
