Black Stars arrive in Zimbabwe for World Cup qualifiers with chartered flight

The Black Stars have touched down in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe, ahead of the return fixture of the World Cup qualifiers

Ghana’s contingent for the return leg of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe touched down in Harare on Sunday evening, AshesGyamera.com can confirm.

The Black Stars, after defeating the Warriors of Zimbabwe 3-1 on Saturday at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, held their last training in Accra on Sunday before leaving Kotoka International Airport in the afternoon with a chartered flight from Asky Airlines.

Twenty six players including Baba Rahman, Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey and Daniel Amartey who play in England made the trip since United Kingdom’s government has now removed Zimbabwe from the red list of countries with most cases of COVID-19.

As a result, these players will not be quarantined for fourteen days when they return to their respective clubs as earlier feared.

The Black Stars contingent was led by Ghana Football Association president Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku together with Black Stars Management Committee Chairman George Amoako. Also, management committee members like Fred Pappoe and Samuel Osei Kuffuor traveled with the team.

Head of communications at Ghana FA, Henry Asante Twum as well as deputy Ghana FA general secretary Alex Asante joined the team for the trip to see the day-to-day activities of the contingent.

Also, Central Regional Football Association chairman Robert Duncan and Volta Regional Football Association chairman Daniel Agbogah were also joined by deputy Youth and Sports Minister Evans Opoku Bobie as well as the chief director of the ministry Alhaji Hafiz Adam.

Senior journalist Kofi Asare Brako ‘Abatay’ and Michael Osekre of Vision FC were all part of the contingent.

The game has been scheduled to take place at the National Sports Stadium in Harare and it will kick off at 15h00 GMT or 3PM local time.

The Black Stars need a win at all cost to keep the chase on South Africa who have opened a one-point lead and will also host Ethiopia in Johannesburg in the other group game.
