The Porcupine Warriors are without a win after two games as Maxwell Konadu’s job comes under intense scrutiny
Asante Kotoko failed to pick their first win of the season on matchday two of Ghana Premier League as they shared the spoils 1-1 against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park in Berekum on Sunday.
Kotoko headed into the game with a lot of hopes as they were looking forward to clinch their first win of the season having drawn 1-1 against Techiman Eleven Wonders on opening day in Accra.
Osman Ibrahim came close to get the opener by the eighth minute but his effort was saved by Chelsea’s goalkeeper.
However, Kwame Poku opened the scoring for Kotoko by the 19th minute after he connected a pass from striker Osman Ibrahim. This was Poku’s second goal in a row.
After the break, Chelsea pushed men forward for the equaliser but efforts from Kofi Owusu ‘Deco’ and Stephen Sarfo were saved by Felix Annan.
However, Chelsea pulled even on the stroke of full time through substitute Emmanuel Clottey.
The former goal king and Kotoko striker sent in a wonderful free-kick to shock his former employers.
The defeat, regardless of the total dominance by Kotoko, has brought a lot of pressure on Maxwell Konadu who was expected to perform wonderfully this season since he signed ten new players including Brazilian Fabio Gama, Sulley Muniru and Emmanuel Keyekeh, among others.
