The former midfielder believes the duo will be a good addition to the Black Stars setup
Former Ghana midfielder Augustine Arhinful has insisted that Southampton defender Mohammed Salifu and Brighton and Hove Albion full-back Tariq Lamptey must be persuaded to play for the Black Stars.
According to the former international, the duo will be good addition as the Black Stars aim at winning 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and qualify to the 2022 Fifa World Cup to be staged in Qatar
“We need to approach Mohammed Salisu to come and play for us, we need him to come. Let’s contact Samuel Kuffuor, Tony Baffour to do this job for us”, Arhinful told Happy FM.
“We need Tariq Lamptey of Brighton. He is also an option for us at the right-back. I would have told him that if he is looking to play for England there isn’t a chance at national level so he should consider Ghana, which will help him in his CV. If it is the father you must get through to him then let’s do it”.
During CK Akonnor’s time he didn’t honor the call up, Coach Milovan Rajevac’s time too he hasn’t turn
“We are looking for results and we get these players and they perform the coach will be happy and Ghanaians will also be happy”, he added.
Mohammed Salisu has received two invites to the Black Stars during CK Akonnor’s tenure as head coach but rejected those call ups stating he wasn’t ready for the national team.
Ghana defeated South Africa 1-0 to tip Group G of the Fifa World Cup qualifiers and will now play in the playoffs for one of the five slots allocated for Africa.
