The Black Stars must grind results on Tuesday against Comoros in Garoua but these players are expected not to play part of the fixture due to various reasons

Ghana has been dealt a big blow as they will miss several key players as they face Comoros in the final game of Group C in the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday in Garoua.

The Black Stars were defeated on opening day by Morocco and shared the spoils with Gabon in the next game which has left them in a tight corner ahead of the last group game.

As a result, the four-time African champions must defeat Comoros to stand a chance of progressing from the group but they must do it without some key players due to several reasons.

First on the list is Kudus Mohammed, who is not even in camp. The Ajax Amsterdam midfielder was named in the 28-man squad for the tournament but has failed to report due to injury concerns.

Although, Ghana’s technical team were optimistic he will recover on time to play part of the tournament, Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag has revealed that it will be strange for the youngster to arrive in Cameroon since he is still unfit.

Also, reports gathered indicate that striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom has been sidelined from the matchday squad although he is in camp and also not injured unlike Kudus.

Barring any last minute intervention by the team’s top hierarchy, Yiadom is expected to sit out of the game.

Interestingly, Real Tamale United midfielder David Abagna Sandan has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury concerns. The midfielder, who is yet to make his bow at the tournament, picked up a foot injury at training and it will take a miracle for him to feature for Ghana even if they progress from the group.

Moreover, Real Mallorca midfielder Baba Iddrisu is out of the game per our sources from the team’s camp. The box-to-box midfielder sat out of the Black Stars’ last training on Monday evening after failing to recover from the injury he sustained against Gabon on Friday. In his absence, Sherif Tilarspol midfielder Edmund Addo is expected to fill the void and partner Arsenal star Thomas Partey in the midfield.

Lastly, Wakaso Mubarak who missed the games against Morocco and Gabon is still nursing a minor injury and would not play a part of the game against Comoros.

The defensive midfielder’s absence is a major concern to Milovan Rajevac since Baba Iddrisu will also be missed.

Since 2008, Ghana has made it out of the group stages in the Africa Cup of Nations and has reached the final on two occasions.
