The second-tier side’s gaffer and head of communications have been sent to different hospitals for further assessments and care following the accident on Monday evening

Baffour Soccer Academy head coach Ibrahim Mohammed and communication director Kwaku Adjei Richard have been referred to Ridge Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Accra and Wenchi respectively, AshesGyamera.com can confirm.

The duo were part of the traveling contingent that suffered a serious car accident at Kyebi Junction, off the Accra-Kumasi road on Monday evening and were rushed to the Kyebi government hospital when the club was travelling from Sunyani to Accra for their pre-season tour ahead of their debut campaign in Ghana Division One League.

Both Mohammed and Adjei were trapped in the car for almost an hour and it took the intervention of the Fire Service before they were finally pulled out after their bus collided with a VIP bus.

“The coach and Richard have been referred to different hospitals and they were sent to their destinations with ambulances on Monday evening,” a source told AshesGyamera.com.

“Richard in particular was sent to Methodist Hospital in Wenchi to see a specialist since he has suffered from bone fractures on his left leg. They said there is a specialist called Dr Bello who is currently the best in the country when it comes orthopaedic issues so he will help him to recover.

“On the part of the head coach, he needs urgent care and because the Kyebi Government hospital lacks some machines to help access his situation, he has been referred to Ridge Hospital in Accra.

“We were told there is no CT Scan machines and other things to know how he is faring so Ridge Hospital will be the best place for him,” the source added.

Ibrahim Mohammed guided Baffour Soccer Academy to qualify to the Ghana Division One League earlier in October.

Baffour Soccer Academy were recently crowned Champions of Brong Ahafo Division Two League. The club is owned by Member of Parliament for the people of Sunyani West Constituency Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah. He also doubles as the Minister of Employment.

The club boasts of two pitches, one for training and one for matches, modern dressing rooms,  two storey buildings used as hostels, a swimming pool an entertainment room, a restaurant, and six-unit classroom block for teaching and learning.
