The Porcupine Warriors will lock horns with Sudanese giants ahead of the start of the new season

Asante Kotoko will face Sudanese giants Al Hilal in an international friendly ahead of the start of 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.

The Porcupine Warriors were initially scheduled to travel to Turkey for their pre-season tour but issues concerning visa processing halted their plans.

As a result, they have since camped in Accra and played two friendly matches so far against Panthers FC and Army FC.

With barely three weeks to the start of the new Premier League season, it looks quite possible that Kotoko may completely abandon their journey to Turkey as they have lined up an international friendly against Hilal.

The game is expected to be played on August 23 but the venue is yet to be confirmed.

Kotoko will face Rail Club de Kadiogo from Burkina Faso in the preliminary round of Caf Champions League following a draw held last week.

The winner after the two legs will lock horns with the winner between Gaborone United and AS Vita Club of Congo in the next round for a place in the group stage

The first leg has been slated to take place between September 9-11, 2022 while the return fixture takes place between September 16-18, 2022.

Kotoko, who are currently without a head coach, have signed seven new players including goalkeeper Frederick Asare from Accra Lions, Osei Poku, Moise Pouaty, Steven Mukwala, Thomas Pele, Enoch Morrison and Zeze from Ivory Coast .
