The first day of the season has been marred by bad news as reports suggest that there was a robbery incident while the game was ongoing
There was a robbery incident when Legon Cities FC shared the spoils 1-1 with Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
While the game was ongoing, thieves broke into the team buses of the two clubs and took away several belongings including laptops, monies and mobile phones.
Although, there hasn’t been any official statement from Legon Cities or Ghana FA regarding the incident, Berekum Chelsea forward Kofi Owusu confirmed to AshesGyamera.com’s editor Evans Gyamera-Antwi in an interview, that they were left in shock after arriving at their changing room and realised that their belongings were stolen.
“After the game, we went straight to the team bus and got the shock of our lives. Our belongings were stolen,” Owusu told AshesGyamera.com.
“We could not believe it because the doors were closed and most especially we played in an empty Stadium since it was behind close doors.
“Some of the players lost hundreds and thousands of cedis while mobile phones and laptops were also taken away. I don’t know what the authorities will do about this incident but it is very bad,” he added.
Stephen Amankonah scored the opening goal of the day for Chelsea but it was Legon made it even twelve minutes later through Jonah Attuquaye.
Chelsea will head back to Berekum to prepare for their nex game against Asante next weekend.
