RTU supporters beat referee after draw with Aduana Stars

The supporters of Giants of the North took the laws into their own hands as they manhandled the centre referee

Real Tamale United fans invaded the pitch and manhandled referee after sharing the spoils 1-1 with Aduana Stars on matchday 21 of Ghana Premier League at Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale on Sunday.

After taking the lead through Baba Koshibo by the 31st minute, Aduana pulled even after the break.

Daniel Kwakwa latched on to a pass from his teammate and scored the equalizer for the visitors by the 69th minute.

Although, RTU appealed for penalty on numerous occasions, the referee was adamant to their plea and that infuriated the supporters after the game

They invaded the pitch and manhandled him until the security present came to the rescue of the referee.

Aduana Stars defeated Hearts of Oak 1-0 on matchday 20 of Ghana Premier League at Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa Ahenkro on Sunday.

Ahead of the game, the Phobians boss has made a single change in the starting line up that defeated WAFA in mid-week.

Following the absence of Sulley Ali Muntari, Gladson Awako who missed the game against WAFA in mid-week due to injury concerns, has been given the nod to start in midfield.

He joined Salim Adams, Nurudeen Abdul Aziz, Afriyie Barnieh and Caleb Amankwah whiles Fatawu Mohammed led the defence line and Kwadwo Obeng Junior led the attack.

After both sides failed to create decent chances, Sam Adams who rejoined Aduana from Kotoko last two years broke free and scored the opening goal by the 33rd minute.

The winger connected a pass from Paul Acquah and perfectly slotted in his last ditch effort beyond the reach of onrushing goalkeeper Richmond Ayi.

After the break, Hearts pressed forward for the equalizer but despite Obeng Junior and Afriyie Barnieh coming close, they could not make their half chances count.

Yahaya Mohammed also tried a long ball with an intention to beat goalkeeper Ayi on his line after he came forward but the striker’s effort went wide.

Aduana now sit second with 34 points, five points behind Asante Kotoko who have a game in hand, while Hearts have dropped to sixth on the log with 29 points.

Hearts of Oak boss Samuel Boadu has made one change in Hearts of Oak starting line up against Aduana Stars on matchday 20 of Ghana Premier League at Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa Ahenkro on Sunday.

Hearts of Oak are hoping to make it two wins in a row when they face Aduana Stars on matchday 20 of Ghana Premier League at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa Ahenkro on Sunday.

After going four games without a win in the Premier League, the Phobians finally ended their winless streak on Wednesday when they pipped WAFA 2-1 thanks to a late penalty by Sulley Muntari.

However, they will have to grind another results this time around without him after failing to make the 22-man squad that left Accra on Friday.

Although, initial reports suggested that Muntari opted not to travel to Dormaa Ahenkro for the game due to lack of local flight from Accra to the venue, but the club has vehemently denied such suggestions and insists it was on medical grounds.

β€œThe decision to exempt Sulley Ali Muntari from the game against Aduana Stars is based on medical advice after he picked up a knock in our previous game and not his personal decision as being speculated,” a club statement read on Friday.

Also, box-to-box midfielder Frederick Ansah Botchway and Enoch Asubonteng could not make the trip as the duo are also yet to recover from injuries they sustained.

The Phobians have now moved up to fourth in the log with 29 points, twelve points behind Asante Kotoko who lead the Premier League log.

The Fifa referee was almost physically assaulted by fans of King Faisal as Aduana made it two wins out of two in the second round of the top-flight

Fifa referee Daniel Laryea and his assistants were in the centre of confusion after Aduana Stars defeated King Faisal 1-0 on matchday eighteen of Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Bright Agyei shot Aduana into the lead very early in the game but King Faisal players, officials and supporters argued that Agyei was in an offside position during the build up.

However, referee Laryea and his assistant one Akwasi Brobbey did not rescind their decision of awarding the visitors the goal.

Aduana Stars were stunned 1-0 by in-form Bechem United in Ghana Premier League matchday fifteen fixture at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa Ahenkro on Saturday.

Ahead of the game, Aduana were coming from a defeat at the hands of Dreams FC last weekend and hoped to return to winning ways while Bechem were unbeaten in their last seven league games and nine games in all competitions.

Sam Adams scored four goals in one match for the first time as Aduana Stars hammered Division Two side Kato Freedom Fighters 5-0 in round 32 of FA Cup at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa Ahenkro on Wednesday.

After Freedom Fighters cut the supplies from Aduana midfielders to the strikers in the early embers of the game, Adams found an opening in the visitors’ defence by the 13th minute to put the Premier League side in front with a nice header.

Six minutes later, Adams latched onto a pass from his teammate and raced through the visitors’ midfield to slot in his second of the day with a long range shot.

Brabby Kofigo added another goal for Aduana when he connected a pass from Adams against the run of play as the Dormaa-based club made it 3-0 to demoralized the lower-tier side.

Adams made it 4-0 by 65th minute with another nice finish after a defensive blunder by Freedom Fighters and then wrapped up the mauling with another goal very late in the game.
