Simba SC will likely be without nine of their first team players when they face Ghanaian champions Asante Kotoko in an international friendly in Omdurman on Sunday.

The players did not travel with the team to Sudan this week as they have been invited for international duties by Tanzania Football Federation ahead of 2023 CHAN qualifiers against

They include first choice goalkeeper and captain Aishi Manula and second choice goalkeeper Beno Kakolanya, Shomary Kapombe, Habib Kyombo, Kibu Denis and Kennedy Juma.

Also missing will be assistant captain Mohammed Hussein ‘Tshabalala’ and Jonas Mkude who are also in the national team camp.

However, players like Augustine Okrah, Mohamed Ouattara, Moses Phiri, Victor Akpan, Nasoro Kapama and Dejan Georgijevic will be available for selection.

Kotoko, on the other hand, will miss goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim and strikers Mbella Etouga and Mfegue Rodrigues.

The Kumasi-based club suffered 2-0 and 5-0 defeats against Al Hilal on Tuesday and Friday respectively and would hope to amend the situation in order to calm down their supporters back home.

With Simba preparing to face Malawi’s Nyasa Big Bullets in Caf Champions League preliminary round, Kotoko are also hoping to use this game as a dress rehearsal for their game against Burkina Faso side Kadiogo in the prelims.
