The former Berekum Chelsea boss says owners of clubs in the country should run it as a business in order to be successful
Ghana Football Association executive council member Oduro Sarfo has urged Ghanaian football club owners to act swiftly in order to save their investments.
The former Berekum Chelsea chief believes that football is currently a business therefore club owners shouldn’t always depend on Ghana Football Association.
“Running a football club is a business for you and your family and it involves money. Ghana FA’s sponsorship is just a bonus for the clubs. They (Clubs) should look for their own sponsorship in order to run well,” Sarfo told OTEC FM.
“Clubs should try and do things that will bring them sponsorship. It is good for the GFA to bring sponsorship but it is not mandatory. The club owners should employ marketers and I believe they will get there.
“I don’t think Liverpool’s sponsors were brought to them by the EPL, they fought for them. What the FA can do for the clubs are TV and Commercial sponsorships. Look for strategic partners or sell your team if you can’t run it,” he concluded.
