The Porcupine Warriors finally laid their hands on the new Premier League title after almost a decade since they last won the top-flight

Asante Kotoko were crowned champions of 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season when they hammered Elmina Sharks 3-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

After being confirmed champions of the top-flight a fortnight ago, following a 1-1 draw in the Ashanti derby against Ashanti Gold at the Len Clay Sports Stadium, Kotoko finally laid their hands on the coveted trophy.

Imoro Ibrahim shot Kotoko ahead in the coronation game against Elmina Sharks with a sublime free-kick by minute.

Substitute Georges Mfegue Rodrigues added two goals after the break to thwart any sign of a possible comeback from the relegated opponent.

Kotoko have now won 24 Ghana Premier League titles and it will be 25 if Ghana Football Association finally accept the Normalisation Committee Cup they won in 2019 as a league title.

Kotoko will now face debutants Accra Lions on final day of the season at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors will represent Ghana in the Caf Champions League while the winner between Bechem United and Hearts of Oak in the final of the FA Cup take over the Caf Confederation Cup slot.
