The Serbian has opted to leave behind the Porcupine Warriors captain amid calls by some members of the management committee to add him

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has announced his 30-man provisional squad for 2021 Africa Cup of Nations holding in Cameroon in January.

Interestingly, Ismail Abdul Ganiu who has been ever present in the Black Stars squad during the qualifiers has been dropped.

Although, the Black Stars management committee members were reported to have argued that Ganiu must be selected, however, Milovan rejected such suggestions insisting that he is not the type of central defender he wants.

Extraordinary Congress: 64 members arrive in Kumasi to amend executive council’s decision to relegate 30 Division One clubs

The various representatives of Ghanaian clubs have arrived in Kumasi ahead of the extraordinary Congress expected to take place on Tuesday

Administrators and representatives of Premier League and Division One League clubs have arrived in Kumasi ahead of the much-anticipated extraordinary congress aimed at considering and approving the resolution submitted by clubs to the executive council of Ghana Football Association in November to reverse a decision taken to relegate 30 Division One clubs after the 2021/22 season.

According the clubs, they are basing their arguments on Article 33 (2) and 33 (3) to call for the congress after Ghana FA failed to respond to their letter requesting for an extraordinary Congress.

The extraordinary Congress was initially scheduled to take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium but the venue has been changed to Stick Inn since King Faisal will play Dreams FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the Ghana Premier League matchday nine outstanding fixture.

Former Ghana FA vice president George Afriyie, Tema Youth president Kwaku Osei Palmer, Bono Ahafo Regional Football Association chairman Ralph Gyambrah among others have all arrived.

Among the agenda to be discussed at the congress include:

a. To consider and delete article 81 and in particular 81(6) from the 2019 GFA statutes

b. To consider and delete article 39 (K) from the 2019 GFA statues

c. To consider and approve an amendment of article 27 by adding a new article 27 (q) as follows:

  • To approve and issue regulations for the organization of all competitions of the GFA

d. To consider and approve an amendment of Article 37 as follows: Please replace this clause:

  • Two (2) RFA Chairmen elected by the Regional Chairmen with the following clause:
  • all ten(10) RFA Chairmen elected by the Regional Football Associations

e. To consider and approve amendment of the Article 26 as follows:
For the women’s Premier League competition clubs, twenty (20) delegates of which at least five (5) shall be women – with the following clause

  • For the Women’s Premier League Competition clubs, eight (8) delegates of which at least five shall be women

However, Ghana FA has insisted that they are unaware of any extraordinary Congress and has distanced themselves from it

“The Ghana Football Association (The GFA) has received a number of calls from the media and other stakeholders enquiring whether or not the Association is holding an extraordinary Congress on Tuesday, December 21, 2021,” a GFA statement read.

“Some members of the GFA have also informed the Secretariat that they have been called by persons purporting to present to them that the Ghana Football Association is organising an Extraordinary Congress and that the GFA needs names of their delegates.

“The Ghana Football Association finds the development as very unfortunate and wishes to state categorically that the GFA has not called an Extraordinary Congress and has not requested for names of delegates for Congress.

“The Association further wishes to assure its members and all stakeholders that as stated earlier, the Association is engaging with FIFA Governance on a number of issues including the proposals to expand the Executive Council and the GFA Congress.

“The GFA has engaged Division One League clubs, where the Executive Council’s decision of suspending the new competition pyramid (18 club Supa League, 10 Regional Championships etc) was announced and discussed as well as other issues.

“The GFA has met the newly elected Executives of the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) with another meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 21, 2021, with the 18 Women’s Premier League clubs.

“The Association will continue with its engagements with the remaining members including Premier League clubs, Regional Football Associations, Coaches Association, Futsal and Beach Soccer.

“Once again, the GFA wishes to state that the entire membership of the Association would be informed through official Notice and Convocation on GFA letterhead, should the Association organise a Congress (be it Ordinary or Extraordinary Congress),” the statement added.

Youth & Sports minister Ussif Mustapha reportedly rushed to hospital after trading blows in Parliament [Video]

The minister was caught in the heat of event and had his nose mask even torn as he exchanged blows with opponents in parliament

Ghana’s Youth and Sports minister Ussif Mustapha was reportedly rushed to the hospital following a fisfight in Parliament between some Members of Parliament on Monday night on the disagreement during the voting on government’s E-levy bill.

The fight ensued when the MPs were voting in a headcount to decide whether the E-levy bill should be accepted under a certificate of urgency or not.

However, the Minority members in parliament rose from their seats to prevent the First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu, who was presiding over the House, from leaving his seat in his attempt to participate in the voting process.

Full details of what led to the fight

In their bid to prevent him, the majority got infuriated and quickly rushed to the Speaker’s table to and a chaos started.

According to the Minority MPs claims, Mr Osei-Owusu, while in the position of Speaker, does not have the right to take part of the voting process.

Before the sitting, the Majority had held a press conference stating the whereabouts of the Speaker, Alban Bagbin, was unknown.

However, since the bill had been laid before the House, the First Deputy Speaker took over proceedings in the House.

During deliberations, the Minority MPs challenged the decision by the Majority MPs to place the Bill under a certificate of urgency.

Although a voice vote was taken with the First Deputy Speaker ruling favouring the Majority, the NDC MPs called for a headcount instead.

Mr Joseph Osei-Owusu then decided to swap positions with the Second Deputy Speaker, who had voted to take part in the decision making.

However, the Minority MPs who disagreed with that position swiftly moved to the Speaker’s seat to stop the swap. Members of the Majority also moved to the Speaker’s seat, which led to the crash.

The Youth and Sports minister Ussif Mustapha was seen trading blows with some NDC members and had his nose mask torn. There was a slap from MP of Ashaiman Alfred Kwame Agbesi which landed on his face before he was dragged away by his colleagues.

Reports later revealed that the Youth and Sports minister has been sent to a hospital nearby for check up and treatment.

Emmanuel Gyamfi: I’ll not celebrate a goal against Kotoko because I may return in future

The midfielder has admitted that he may accept an opportunity to rejoin the Porcupine Warriors in the future

Former Asante Kotoko deputy captain Emmanuel Gyamfi has admitted that he is ready to play for Asante Kotoko in future despite the bizarre manner in which he left the club few months ago.

The 28-year-old joined left Kotoko ahead of the start of the 2021/22 season after he was alleged to have led mutiny in the dressing room.

Although, he was arguably one of Kotoko’s star performers last season, his contract was mutually terminated and he joined Aduana Stars as a free agent.

“I really loved Asante Kotoko but the club is not mine so I had to leave when the situation was different,” Gyamfi told Akoma FM.

“I am not intentionally playing well for Aduana Stars this season to prove something to Kotoko. I always play with all my heart for any club I’ve represented.

“My teammates at Aduana have been crucial to my fine form. Also, I think I had a good pre-season wen I arrived. I am scoring now because I am playing as an attacker while I was used predominantly as a midfielder in Kotoko. I wanted to play as an attacker in Kotoko but they denied me that opportunity”

Gyamfi, who is not eyeing for the goal king diadem despite his fine form, has further revealed that he would not celebrate a goal against Kotoko when he scores for Aduana out of respect.

“In a game against Kotoko, if the opportunity comes I will score but I will not celebrate the goal because it is a club that gave me the opportunity. If I do well here who knows I may return to the club one day,” he said.

“My focus is not to win the goal king but to help my team win the league.
We are focused on each match as it comes, we will win the league if the opportunity comes.”

He added: “I am not desperate for a Black Stars call up but if the opportunity comes i will grab it. I am not obsessed about that, i just want to focus on my game but if the call comes, i will be happy.”

After eight games, Gyamfi has proven his mettle for the Dormaa Ahenkro-based club as he has netted five times and provided three assists to help Aduana top the league log with 20 points, three points above Kotoko who sit in second place.

Videos: Watch Kwame Peprah’s brace for Orlando Pirates in PSL

The youngster was on the score sheet for the first time since joining the Buccaneers in August

Ghanaian striker Kwame Peprah opened his goal scoring duties for Orlando Pirates in Premier Soccer League when the Buccaneers hosted Gallant on Monday

With Pirates down by the 12th minute through S. Ntshangase, Peprah stepped up his performance to cause a lot of troubles to the visitors’ defence.

The former King Faisal poster boy latched on to a pass from his teammate by the 24th minute and calmly slotted in his last ditch effort as Pirates levelled up.

Two minutes later, Peprah benefited from a poor defence by Gallant and in a similar fashion, sent his effort down the left bottom corner beyond the reach of goalkeeper Arubi.

It took Peprah 13 games before he could break his duck for Pirates.
