“I’m building an all-round & unbeatable team,” Hearts coach Samuel Boadu

The Phobians boss has insisted that his charges did a wonderful job against RTU despite the absence of several key players

Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu has praised his players despite sharing the spoils goalless with Real Tamale United in Ghana Premier League matchday seventeen at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale on Sunday.

The Phobians came into the game on the back of a painful derby defeat to Great Olympics and were hoping to return to winning ways.

However, they missed several key players through injuries and suspensions and had to rely on makeshift formation.

“It was a very nice game. You could see that [although] people were thinking that without central defenders we cannot play, but I believed in my boys and we played well,” Boadu said.

“Already, I’ve said that I’m building an all-round team; if we don’t have Kwaku, Kwame is there, so this shows that the players out there can also bring out their best. It was a very nice game,” he added.

Boadu also rued missed chances and believes it is a worry since it will go a long way to affect them.

“Being a coach it’s a worry for me because if you get such a chance and you misuse it, when the opponent gets the same chance they will use it to punish me,” he said.

Hearts, who now sit eighth on the log with 24 points, will host Asante Kotoko in the final game of the first round at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday as they hope to reduce the twelve-point gap.

RTU 0-0 Hearts of Oak: Phobians drop 12 points behind Asante Kotoko ahead of Super Clash

The Phobians must not double their efforts and hope their bitterest rivals drop points in order to catch up in the title chase

Hearts of Oak’s poor run of results continued this weekend as they shared the spoils goalless with Real Tamale United on matchday seventeen of Ghana Premier League at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium with ten men in Tamale on Sunday.

After fallen to Great Olympics last weekend, Hearts coach Samuel Boadu made seven changes to the starting line up as goalkeeper Richard Attah replaced Richmond Ayi while Daniel Korsah was handed his debut game.

Also, former AC Milan midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari began the game after coming on as a substitute last weekend while Caleb Amankwah, Isaac Mensah and Salim Adams also started.

After a slow start to the game, Hearts had the opportunity to break the deadlock by the 14th minute after Isaac Mensah was played through by Afriyie Barnieh, however, the striker surprisingly fluffed the opportunity.

Salim sent in a powerful long range effort after latching onto a pass from his teammate but the youngster missed the target narrowly.

Caleb Amankwah saw red card on 83rd minute after picking his second booking on the day.

With four minutes remaining, Hearts had another chance through substitute Frederick Ansah Botchway but the midfielder saw his last ditch effort going wide.

Hearts are now eighth on the log with 24 points, twelve points behind Asante Kotoko after 16 games.

The two clubs will square it off next weekend at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Super Clash after the game which was earlier scheduled for November was postponed due to Hearts’ participation in Caf Confederation Cup.

“It’s a national call & I’ll rise to it,” Kotoko boss Prosper Ogum ready to coach Black Stars when selected

The Porcupine Warriors boss believes he has what it takes to lead the Black Stars since it is a national duty

Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum Narteh has confirmed his readiness to coach Black Stars in future whenever he is contacted by Ghana Football Association.

In recent weeks, a section of Ghanaians, including former Ghana FA president Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe has led a campaign to hand over the Black Stars to Ogum following his wonderful start at Asante Kotoko.

Although, Kotoko have been knocked out of the FA Cup, Ogum seems to be working magic in the Premier League as Kotoko currently lead the log with six points advantage and still have a game in hand.

What makes his works enviable is opening a ten-point gap between his side and fierce rivals Hearts of Oak ahead of th start of the second half of th season.

And with the Black Stars failing woefully at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations where they fell to minnows Comoros and Morocco, many believe Ogum is the right man to start a golden generation of players.

Currently, Otto Addo has been appointed as the interim coach and will be assisted by Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and George Boateng as Ghana prepare to face Nigeria in 2022 Fifa World Cup last qualifying round.

“It is a national call and when the days comes and I’m available I think once it is national duty, we will all rise up to the call,” Ogum said in an interview with StarTimes as quoted by AshesGyamera.com.

“I think probably he has sat from afar and he has seen what I’m doing and per his astuteness, I mean we know him to be following football for over decades, I mean so many years as a seasoned football administrator so I think per his experience and per what he has seen about me and being there as a former Ghana Football Association president and with the Black Stars and knowing what the dynamics of what goes in at the Black Stars, probably that is making him to take that informed decision about me,” he added.

Ogum has tasted only two defeats in the league and was adjudged the Coach of the Month of November.

The Porcupine Warriors boss has showered praise on the young midfielder and believes he may one day be used as a striker when the need arises

Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum Narteh has heaped praise on young midfielder Sheriff Mohammed following his splendid performance in the 3-1 win over newcomers Accra Lions in Ghana Premier League on Saturday.

Following the absence of Mudasiru Salifu, Sheriff was deployed in midfield and was tactically used to cover up for the defenders.

The youngster has played several roles in Kotoko’s set up since joining them this season and Prosper Ogum believes he will one day fall on him when the club needs a striker.

“He is a multi functional player, the one you call utility player. Anywhere you put him he is ready to help. If the need be one day that we have to play him as the marksman (striker), I am very sure he can fit in” Ogum said as quoted by AshesGyamera.com.

“Anywhere you put him he fits in. The fact is that he is very intelligent. He can read and analyse the game and then in terms of talent, he has that ability.

“He is technically a very good player and tactically what I have observed on him is that what you tell him is what he goes to do and at times add more to it,” he added.
