“Kotoko will humiliate Hearts on Sunday,” Prophet Mensah Otabil reveals scoreline

The man of God has insisted that Asante Kotoko will score three goals whether rain or shine in the Super Clash on Sunday

Founder and leader of Christ True Word of God Ministries, Prophet Kwaku Mensah Otabil, has revealed that Asante Kotoko will humiliate rivals Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

According to the man of God, who prophesied in 2019 that Kurt Okraku will defeat George Afriyie to win the Ghana FA presidential elections, Kotoko will score more than two goals in the game.

Although, Hearts have several players expected to miss the game, former AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari will likely start the game after initial reports suggested he will miss them due to technicalities.

Otabil insists that Kotoko will win 3-0 if Gladson Awako doesn’t play a part of the game and will win 3-1 if Awako play part of it.

“Kotoko will defeat Hearts by hook or crook on Sunday. They will not be able to stand the might of Kotoko,” Prophet Mensah Otabil told Ashh FM in an interview.

“Kotoko will outplay Hearts on the day and go on to win 3-0 if Awako doesn’t play. Should they start or introduce Awako in the game, they will pull one back,” he added.

Kotoko held their last training in Kumasi on Thursday and headed to Accra on Friday to continue their fine tuning and Otabil says they will win the Premier League trophy for the next seven years.

“Per what I have seen in the realms of the spirit on December 24, Asante Kotoko is going to win the Ghana Premier League in 2022,” he said.

“They will continue to win the league title in the next five seasons. If referees are going to be fair to Asante Kotoko and handle their games well, Kotoko are going to win the league consecutively.

“I am a staunch Hearts of Oak fan. My parents are and everyone in my family support Hearts but what God has shown to me is what I can and will always say,” he added.

Kotoko are at the top of the log with 36 points, twelve points better than Hearts who are without a win after two games against Great Olympics and Real Tamale United.

Asante Kotoko former player and chief executive officer Opoku Nti continued with their fine tuning on Thursday ahead of the weekend’s Super Clash against Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.

With the team expected to leave Kumasi to Accra on Friday, the players held their last training at the Adako Jachie training ground with a full house.

Apart from players like Fabio Gama and Isaac Oppong who have been ruled out of the game due to ill health, almost every player that have been playing part of Kotoko’s games recently were present.

Last season, Kotoko were pipped 1-0 by Hearts at the Accra Sports Stadium and the Phobians went on to lift the Premier League title.

“Our coming here was made possible by the current management team of the club and technical team so we are grateful,” Opoku Nti said in an interview with journalists.

“The legends of this club always pray for the players to succeed. The only club we have is Kotoko and we adore it and if Kotoko progresses, it also opens doors for us in different ways.

“We want to mainly motivate them so that they can defeat Hearts. We feel the coach [Prosper Ogum Narteh] is doing wonderful job especially since he is new to the club and more than half of the players are also new.

“However, the results are very encouraging even though they didn’t get time to have pre-season so he is using the league games to work on the players and I think he must be commended.

“Football isn’t about magic but togetherness and cohesion and even though the player’s would’ve needed enough time to play as a unit, the coach has been able to work around the clock to make them understand his philosophy so easily,” he added.

Kotoko lead the Premier League table with 36 points, twelve points above Hearts of Oak who sit eighth with 24 points.

The biggest football game in the Premier League is scheduled for Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium and works have been ongoing

Ghana Premier League’s biggest fixture is finally scheduled to take place between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The watering and maintaining of the pitch

The game was initially scheduled to take place in November last year but it was rescheduled due to Hearts’ participation in Caf Confederation Cup playoffs. The Phobians had to spend almost a week in Algeria due to flight arrangements after playing JS Saoura.

As a result, National Sports Authority has been working on and off the field to get the venue in good shape in order to serve a good game to fans and neutrals who will be watching the game live from the stadium or on television wherever they find themselves.

NSA boss Peter Twumasi inspecting the pitch

On Wednesday, February 16, 2022, National Sports Authority boss Peter Twumasi joined the Estates and Safety Departments of the National Sports Authority to inspect preparatory works at Accra Sports Stadium prior to league match and he was impressed with the work done so far.

The pitch is gradually becoming green

Hearts trail Asante Kotoko twelve points after 16 games and are in a dire need of a win to reduce the gap and hope to catch up in the second round of the season.

Ghana Football Association has named young and enterprising referee Rustum Gameli Senorgbe to handle the make or break Ghana Premier League game between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko scheduled to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Aside refereeing, Senorgbe is a well-known radio presenter and marketing officer in Volta regional capital Ho, as he works with Volta Premier FM.

Senorgbe, who has been officiating since 2009, became a class one referee in 2014 and was enrolled to officiate Ghana Division One League that same year.

Four years later, he was promoted to officiate Ghana Premier League games and has since been an active member; rising through the ranks to now become one of the most trusted officials around.

Senorgbe completed Wesley Grammar Senior High School in Dansoman before enrolling at Ho Technical University for HND Marketing.

Is it true Sulley Muntari & Justice Blay won’t play in Hearts vs Kotoko on Sunday?

The duo signed for their respective clubs when the second transfer window was opened this month

Ahead of the Super Clash in Ghana Premier League between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium this weekend, a lot of rumours have been flying around.

Among these rumours include the uncertainty surrounding former AC Milan midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari and Justice Blay who recently signed as free agents for Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko respectively.

Although, the game was initially billed to take place in November, it was postponed due to Hearts’ participation in Caf Confederation Cup against Algerian side JS Saoura.

However, since the second registration window was reopened on February 1, every player registered afterwards is eligible to play in all games.

It should be noted that both Muntari and Blay have already played games in the first round with Muntari making his bow against Great Olympics in the Ga Mantse derby before starting role against Real Tamale United last weekend.

Blay, on the other hand, featured in Kotoko’s defeat to Elmina Sharks and the victory over Accra Lions.

“The Ghana Football Association wishers to announce that the second registration window for the 2021/2022 season will be opened from 00:01 am., Tuesday, February 1, 2022 and closed at 11:59pm, Thursday, February 24, 2022,” a GFA statement read.

Video: How Etouga Mbella scored all his 11 goals for Asante Kotoko

The Cameroonian has been in top form for the Porcupine Warriors after joining them at the start of the season

Asante Kotoko new striker Etuoga Mbella Frank Thierry has been in superb form in Ghana Premier League as he has bagged 11 goals so far for the Kumasi-based giants.

Mbella, who missed some gear at the start of the season due to paperwork, has fired in all the goals after twelve games.

What makes it interesting is that the Cameroonian has netted all these goals after only ten starts.

Last season, former Karela United striker Diawisie Taylor scored 12 goals after the first round and he became the second player to achieve that after Nathaniel Asamoah netted 12 goals in the 2014/15 season.

Etouga will have the chances to equal that record or better it when he features for Kotoko against Hearts in the outstanding game scheduled for Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

“Kotoko, Hearts & others don’t rent stadiums in Ghana; we only collaborate with them,” NSA educates Ghanaians

In recent weeks, concerns have been raised about the alleged exorbitant deductions which government through National Sports Authority charges during matchdays in either Ghana Premier League or Caf inter-club competitions.

As a result, reports even emerged last week that there was a scuffle over pitch panels between Kotoko’s top hierarchy and NSA officials when the Porcupine Warriors hosted debutants Accra Lions in matchday seventeen of Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

According to NSA, Kotoko are supposed to pay for each of the pitch panels they display at the stadium which have their sponsors on them or the NSA will rather have their own pitch panels.

As a result, there was a meeting between the two parties held on Tuesday to amicably solve the impasse and NSA has further issued a statement to explain how they undergo their works.

“The National Sports Authority (NSA) apart from its mandate to develop sports, promote sporting competitions in and outside Ghana, registering and licensing of sports associations and federations (47 in number now), as enshrined in Sports Act, 2016 (Act 934) and Legislative Instrument (Regulation) L.I. 1988, also manages and maintains all state-owned sporting facilities across the country including Accra Sports Stadium, Cape Coast Sports Stadium, Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Sekondi-Takoradi Essipong Stadium, Tamale Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium and Sunyani Coronation Sports Stadium,” a statement by NSA read.

“There are also many satellite stadia, scores of Astroturf playing fields, and hockey stadia. These are made available to clubs, federations and individuals for sports and non-sports activities with specified conditions.

“The cost of renting a major stadium with seating capacity above twenty thousand per day is GHS 100,000 as captured in Fees and Charges of Finance Ministry and approved by Parliament. However, no club in the premier league in Ghana is able to rent at this fee and therefore, the NSA has resorted to collaborate with the clubs to organize games and share match proceeds based on sharing formula (Function Statement) approved by Finance Ministry. This is captured in contracts signed between NSA and clubs using these stadia as their home.

“Kotoko doesn’t rent Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Accra Hearts of Oak doesn’t rent Accra Sports Stadium etc; and if they were, pitch preparation and cleaning of seats ahead of games would have been their responsibility but the NSA plays this role to support the clubs.

“Remember, it takes almost GHS 10,000 to ready the facility for a match including cost of pitch preparation, sanitation, electricity, water and personnel.

“When you look at the contract NSA signed with the Premier clubs, none of them chose the renting option. Fact! All the clubs chose the second option of organising matches together to share the proceeds from the match. Fact!!

“If you pay attention to the function statement of games at Baba Yara, or Accra Sports stadium, the NSA with its 15% doesn’t meet the cost of stadium preparation, and equally the clubs don’t really benefit either, in my opinion.

“For example, the NSA made just GHS 102 when King Faisal played RTU at the Baba Yara on February 05, 2022. The authority got just GHS 4,333 from gross proceeds of GHS 69, 690 when Kotoko played Olympics at Baba Yara on January 28, 2022.

“This is because of the numerous deductions including VAT (18.5%), deductions to the GFA, PLB, GHALCA, Red Cross, Ambulance, Security, etc.

“On the pitch panel issue, the clubs per the agreement with the NSA are to pay 30% of proceeds from the ads to the NSA but the NSA, led by ever generous Prof. Twumasi hasn’t enforced it because he knows that will over burden the clubs.

“The issue of paying between 200-500cds per panel rented (manual current but soon to have digital pitch panel installed) is a suggestion that came up during a meeting yesterday but the amount is yet to be agreed. Other suggestions included the old approach where pitch panels are shared between NSA and clubs for their own advertisements, or renting entire stadium by the clubs and keeping all proceeds to themselves apart from taxes.

“As at now, clubs don’t disclose how much they earn from advertisement in the various stadia which is supposed to be part of the match revenue. The GFA has already implemented the sharing of pitch panel advertisement proceeds emanating from national team matches with NSA at 30:70 ratio (30% for NSA & 70% for GFA).

“Sports organization at elite or professional level is indeed capital intensive, and the earlier Ghana sports begins to run with commercial intent rather than as humanitarian venture, the better our sports industry would be as prevailing in Europe and elsewhere,” the statement added.
