Gyasi impresses in Spezia Calcio’s home defeat against Udinese in Serie A

The Ghanaian had a decent game for the Little Eagles as they ended up with a narrow defeat against the Zebras at home

Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Gyasi was in action when Spezia Calcio suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Udinese in Serie A on Sunday.

The 27-year-old was handed a starting place in Spezia’s squad and lasted 85 minutes before he was substituted after picking up an injury.

Gyasi came close to opening the scoring for Spezia in the first half when he combined with Ebrima Colley.

After the break, substitute Daniele Verde went past two defenders but his last ditch pass to Gyasi for the Ghanaian to have a shot on target was blocked.

Gyasi was substituted by the 86th minute mark for Eddie Anthony Salcado when he signalled the technical team of a knock he had suffered earlier.

With a minute to end the game, Jean-Victor Makengo set up Lazar Samardžić to score the only goal of the game and break the hearts of the home supporters.

Gyasi was part of the Ghana squad that played against Ethiopia and South Africa in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers. He, however, didn’t not make an appearance in any of the games due to an illness he suffered in camp.

Naby Keita blasts ‘uncultured’ Mariano Baretto for making rubbish statement about Asante Kotoko

The Porcupine Warriors departed striker believes his former manager’s comment about the club was out of order and must be condemned

Former Asante Kotoko striker Naby Keita has launched a scathing attack on former coach Mariano Baretto following his recent media war with the club.

Baretto, 64, criticized Kotoko’s poor administrative structure and system and revealed that the club lacks basic infrastructures including washrooms for players and office for coaches and other technical members.

However, Keita, who left the club last week following the expiration of his contract, insists such comments should not have been made public by the coach since it goes a long way to tarnish the hard won reputation of the club.

“If the coach said that Asante Kotoko is not having a toilet then why did he come to work at the club?” Keita quizzed in an interview with Ghanasportspage.

“He should know that he is disgracing the club and himself. He shouldn’t have come out to say this because he knew that Kotoko didn’t win the league and he came out with this. It is not necessary.

Keita argued that Baretto was using this tactics to cover up his failure to win a trophy for Kotoko.

“CK Akonnor was there, he was here, we were not having a toilet but we won the Special Competition and entered the group stages of the CAF Confederations without a toilet at the training ground. So what’s he talking about? He should stop being a coach,” he said.

“He talks and I listen to what he says but about Kotoko’s toilet issues are rubbish.

“All of them were rubbish,” he added.

Keita, who joined Kotoko in 2018, fell down the pecking order under Baretto season and the Guinean international made a handful of appearances for Kotoko as a result.

Yunus Musah explains why he chose United States national team over Ghana & England

The youngster has shed light on why he opted to represent the Yanks despite interest from Ghana Football Association

United States of America midfielder of Ghanaian descent Yunus Musah has revealed that he opted to represent them ahead of his parents’ country because of their ambitions.

Born and raised in New York to Ghanaian parents, Yunus, 18, was also moved England where he football desires and skills were nurtured in a world class standard.

Although, Ghana and England FA made an approach to snap him for their various junior national teams, Yunus opted to represent United States and he believes that was the best decision.

“It is a pride to go to the United States team. It is a group that I love to be with. It is a team that wants to do many things and we are sure to grow together,” Musah told Valencia’s media in an interview.

Yunus plies his trade with La Liga side Valencia and has swapped his jersey for the new season after recovering from an injury.

“There were 4 and 19. In England it is usual to wear 4, 8 or 10 if you play in the middle and since I already had 4 in England once, I thought about choosing 4,” he said.

“I am a midfielder. Last year I played on the wing. You have to play wherever and it is good to improve in many places and improve in many positions.

“With the lower categories of England I played in the middle and in the United States team, too. I really like to play in the middle, but if you have to play in another position, nothing happens

OtumfoƆ invites Osikani Kwame Kyei and other Asante Kotoko board members to Manhyia today; check the main agenda

The Porcupine Warriors owner is believed to have surmoned the club’s highest decision body to appear before him for deliberations

Asante Kotoko owner OtumfoƆ Osei Tutu II is believed to have scheduled an emergency meeting with the club’s board of directors at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Saturday, according to AshesGyamera.com‘s sources.

All interested parties have been duly notified of the meeting which kicks off exactly at 11 am on Saturday.

This has become necessary following the alleged bad blood between board chairman Osikani Kwame Kyei and chief executive officer Nana Yaw Amponsah as well as a section of the board members.

It is believed that Osikani Kyei has deliberately excused himself from the last two board meetings held to plan the future of the club because of some misunderstanding between him and the CEO which he believes the latter has the backing of some of the board members.

Although, Kotoko are expected to kick start their pre-season ahead of the commencement of Ghana Premier League in October, a lot of things seem not working as the future of even the club’s head coach Mariano Baretto is unknown.

Also, several first team players are having contracts which will expire in the coming months with no negotiations for an extension done because of the uneasiness among the leaders.

Moreover, Kotoko’s recruitments have been slow this season than ever with the club officially yet to sign even one player less than six weeks to the start of new season.

Reports suggest that even the supporters leadership has even been divided making things murkier than expected some few weeks ago.

All the twelve board members including vice chairman Jude Arthur, Kwadwo Boateng Gyamfi, Alhaji Abu Lamin, Kwamena Mensah and Joseph Yaw Addo are expected to arrive at Manhyia with Kwame Kyei before the meeting with Otumfuo commences.

The others include Evelyn Nsiah Asare, Baffour Kwame Kusi, Kofi Amoah Abban, Martin Osei Kwaku Brobbey and James Osei Brown.

One of the major issues to be discussed will be the alleged grand agenda to run Kotoko down by one private radio station in Kumasi owned by the board chairman and the lawsuit on the radio station by board member Evelyn Nsiah Asare for allegedly tarnishing her hard won reputation.

Naby Keita rates Kotoko supporters and reveals issues among players which helped Hearts to win Ghana Premier League

The striker, who has left the Porcupine Warriors camp following the expiration of his contract, says they couldn’t win the league trophy because of division in the club

Asante Kotoko former striker Naby Keita has finally opened up on why the club failed to win 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title.

The Porcupine Warriors had a tough start to the campaign and although, they changed coaches on four different occasions, they had the opportunity to win the trophy at a point.

They were four points above rivals Hearts of Oak mid way through the season but eventually lost the title race to them.

“Kotoko had good players who could have won the league but there was division in the club and players. The dressing room was not united. Hearts of Oak were serious than us,” Keita told Vision 1 FM.

“I think that Kotoko need to be united for the team to prosper. Without everyone at the club coming together to fight for the same purpose, I don’t think they can achieve their target,” he added.

Keita also thanked supporters of Kotoko and revealed what they did to surprise him while at the club.

“I was very impressed with the fans throughout my stay at the club. I’ve never played for a team which their fans love the club than Kotoko. I played for the biggest team in Guinea for three years, they have supporters like Kotoko but Kotoko supporters are special, that one, I can’t deny it,” he said as quoted by Ghanasportspage.

“Whenever I’m on the pitch, I feel like I am playing an African Cup. Even when you are tired, and they are at the park, you can’t even think of getting tired because they are in the stands watching you.

“So because of that, I was very very impressed. I thank them and I will follow the club for the rest of my life,” he added.

Keita, who joined Kotoko in a three-year deal in 2018, scored three goals in all competitions last season.

Asante Kotoko’s number one target Boateng joins Ittihad Alexandria in Egypt

The highly rated striker has rejected promises given to him by the Porcupine Warriors and has now secured a deal in North Africa

Ghanaian striker Benjamin Bernard Boateng has sealed a three-year deal with Egyptian club Ittihad Alexandria from Ghana Premier League side Elmina Sharks, the two clubs have confirmed.

The 20-year-old was hugely linked with a move to join Asante Kotoko after having a wonderful season with Sharks where his consistent performance helped the club to avoid relegation on final day.

Boateng scored eight goals in 25 games with Sharks and won five Man of the Match awards including the game against Kotoko on final day of the season at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

With Kotoko losing forwards Augustine Okrah and Naby Keita, Boateng was one of the strikers that club was seriously in talks with to join but he opted for greener pastures.

He has become the second player to join Ittihad after Bechem United captain Moro Salifu also secured a three-year deal with the club a fortnight ago.

Why KP. Boateng’s brother Jerome Boateng must pay £1.5 million fine to ex-girlfriend or face 5-year jail term

The football who has Ghanaian roots is caught in deep waters after his former girlfriend reported him to the German authorities for an alleged assault

Germanany defender of Ghanaian descent Jerome Boateng has been slapped with a fine of £1.5 million (€1.8 million euros) by a court in Munich, Germany on Thursday following a misunderstanding with his former girlfriend.

The former Bayern Munich star, who is currently plying his trade with French Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyon, was found guilty by the court for biting and punching Sherin Senler who happened to be his former girlfriend a couple of years ago.

The senior brother of Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng was charged and later convicted of the assault cases after Senler officially lodged a report to the police as she insists the manhandling took place during a Caribbean holiday they had together three years ago.

Senler is believed to be the mother of Jerome’s twin daughters and she was bent on seeking justice despite attempts to settle the case out of court.

She reportedly told the court on Thursday, September 9, 2021 that Boateng bit her and spat blood in her face and punched her in the kidney so hard she could not breathe.

Boateng however, denied all the allegations made against him by Senler and insisted that he was rather the one at the receiving end of the abuse as he testified for almost two hours.

Boateng told the court that Ms Senler became aggressive all of a sudden and began using insulting and abusive words towards him, and hit him as he got injured on his lip in the process.

But he was convicted of causing dangerous bodily harm to Senler and insulting her in an incident in 2018 while they were on holiday in the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean, reports say.

The £1.5 million fine imposed by judge Kai Dingerdissen is considered the highest possible financial damages that could be imposed by the Munich District Court.

Naby Keita leaves Asante Kotoko as free agent; check his replacement

The 27-year-old’s deal ended as September drew to a close, making him able to sign with any other club of his choice

Asante Kotoko striker Naby Keita has become a free agent after his contract expired in September, AshesGyamera.com understands.

Although the Guinean international was hopeful of signing a contract renewal before the deadline, Kotoko opted not to give him another chance after failing to hugely impress the supporters and club’s top hierarchy, making him now officially unattached.

Keita had a frustrating campaign last season as he could only bang in three goals in as many matches as he featured and what made him very unpopular was the late penalty he missed in the defeat against Etoile due Sahel in Caf Confederation Cup last season. He even fell down the pecking order following the appointment of Portuguese coach Mariano Baretto mid season.

Despite the sale of Kwame Opoku to Algerian club USM Alger, leaving Kotoko in a high demand of a potent striker, Keita failed to step up his performance and lost his place in the team to new strikers Andy Kumi, Evans Adomako and Solomon Sarfo Taylor.

Keita, who will be remembered for his role in Kotoko’s run to win the Normalisation Cup in 2019, joined the club as a free agent from FC Renaissance Club De Conakry in 2018 to join former striker Songne Yacouba.

He became the first major signing under former coach Charles Kwablah Akonnor after impressing during a two-week trial at the club’s training ground at Adako Jachie in Kumasi.

According to reports, Prosper Ogum Narteh, who is expected to take over from Baretto as the new coach of Kotoko, believes the club should sign WAFA striker Justus Torsutsey who netted six goals in 16 games last season for the Sogakope-based club.

Ogum is believed to have rated Torsutsey, who doubles as military man, as the perfect player to replace Keita after signing him from Hasaacas to WAFA in the second round of last season.

Torsutsey will become the second player to join Kotoko after Inter Allies midfielder Richmond Lamptey signed a three-year contract with the club on Thursday.

The tactician is expected to arrive in Kumasi next week as Kotoko put their house together before they can start the pre-season.
