Milovan’s disciplinary record will push ‘relaxed’ players to work more, says Ayew brothers PRO

The spokesperson for the Ayew family believes the Serbian will bring out the best from the Black Stars players

Fiifi Tackie, spokesperson for the Ayew family, believes that new Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac will succeed because of his disciplinary actions.

The 68-year-old signed a one-year contract with Ghana FA last month to replace Charles Kwablah Akonnor and will play his first game against Zimbabwe in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers on October 9.

“The Milovan Rajevac I know when he makes his decision, it is final and nobody can change his mind,” Tackie said.

“He will give you the chance and if you don’t prove yourself forget it, no matter who you are and we need it.

“There are some players in the team who are too relaxed. They feel their position is guaranteed and we need some sort of competition. From the goalkeeper to the bench. If Milovan decides that this player is off, that’s it.

“Milovan Rajevac will be super motivated to do what he did in the past now that he has returned. Let’s use Kwesi Appiah as an example.

“He did a good job in his second stint especially in games against South Africa and Sao Tome. I think Milo will learn from his mistakes,” he added.

Ghana sit second on the Group G of the qualifiers with three points, one point behind leaders South Africa.

According to a research, the Serbian currently sits tenth on the list as he is set to take charge of the Black Stars in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers next month.

Morocco head coach Vahid Halilhodzic is the highest paid African coach as he is paid almost $90,000 while Carlos Queiroz of Egypt and Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi sit in second and third place respectively.

South Africa coach Hugo Broos and Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr are also in the list as they earn $50,000 and $55,000 respectively.

Milovan has been tasked to qualify Ghana to the 2022 Fifa World Cup and win 2021 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Cameroon next year.

He will earn $300,000 each if he is able to achieve any of the two targets set for him by Ghana Football Association.

Exclusive: Awako terminates contract with Hearts of Oak, says Oluboi; HERE ARE THE REASONS

The Phobians have failed to keep the midfielder only two months after sealing a deal with him

Hearts of Oak have terminated their contract with midfielder Gladson Awako according to the Chief Executive Officer of Great Olympics, Oluboi Commodore.

The 30-year-old signed a three-year deal with Hearts in August and was expected to help them in their Caf Champions League campaign. However, Awako left the club’s training camp and allegedly insisted that he was suffering from spiritual attacks.

However, a new twist to his issue has popped up as Great Olympics believe the player is free to leave Hearts since they have failed to pay the agreed transfer fee.

According to Oluboi, Great Olympic’s agreement with Hearts of Oak has been nullified after the latter failed to abide by the agreement since Hearts of Oak agreed to pay the transfer fee in two installments.

The first installment was on September 13 and the second was supposed to be paid on October 2 which Hearts top hierarchy defaulted.

“We had an agreement with Hearts of Oak and they wanted to pay 50 percent. the first installment was paid on the 13th September,” Oluboi said.

“The second installment was to be paid on October 2. In the agreement, it was said if they fail to pay the money the agreement is nullified or terminated which was signed by Vincent Sowah Odotei.

“He is currently an Olympics player and must return to us now. Any amount paid is not refundable.

“We were demanding all the amount from Hearts of Oak before we release the player because we knew this would happen.

“From October 2, there is no more agreement with Hearts of Oak. He still has a contract with Great Olympics till 22 October. It is in his contract that if he doesn’t go abroad he will sign for Olympics,” he added.

This comes as a big blow to the Hearts of Oak preparations ahead of the Caf Champions League game against Wydad Athletic Club from Morocco on October 22.

Asante Kotoko sign ninth player Sheriff Mohammed in three-year deal

The Porcupine Warriors have announced the arrival of the young defender after he impressed the club’s technical team during his trial

Asante Kotoko have signed Steadfast FC defender Sherrif Mohammed in a three-year deal, the two clubs have confirmed.

The youngster was spotted training with Kotoko’s first team last week in Kumasi before they moved to Accra to continue their pre-season tour.

With defenders Wahab Adams and Habib Mohammed leaving the club, Sherrif became a priority after he caught the eye of Kotoko’s new coach Prosper Ogum Narteh.

“𝑯𝒆’𝒔 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒏𝒆𝒘𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆’𝒔 𝒂 𝑺𝑯𝑬𝑹𝑰𝑭𝑭!!

“We are delighted to announce the signing of versatile midfielder Sheriff Mohammed from Steadfast FC on a three-year deal,” a club’s statement read.

Sherrif scored seven goals last season and made 12 assists in the Zone Two of Ghana Division One League.

He has become the ninth signing by Kotoko this season after Richard Boadu, Samuel Appiah, Isaac Oppong, Richmond Lamptey, Maxwell Agyemang, Clinton Opoku, Augustine Amponsah and Samuel Boateng as new signings at Kotoko.

According to reports in the local media, Berekum Chelsea captain Stephen Amankonah and another striker are also expected to be unveiled in the coming days.

Check out the Black Stars players surprisingly dropped by Milovan Rajevac ahead of Zimbabwe clash

The Serbian has pruned his squad list ahead of the international break and conspicuously added was the midfielder who captained his club in Serie A over the weekend

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has reportedly dropped five players from the squad that will face Zimbabwe in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers on Saturday, according to reports in the local media.

Notably among them include midfielder Wakaso Mubarak who played part in the last two games and even scored the only goal against Ethiopia in Group G’s opening game at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Wakaso gas been inactive at club level since the 2021/22 Chinese Super League season is yet to start.

Also, Spezia Calcio midfielder Emmanuel Gyasi has been told to stay in Italy despite playing 90 minutes over the weekend in Serie A and even captained his club when they lost 4-0 to Chievo Verona.

Although, Gyasi was called for the last two games against Ethiopia and South Africa, he was unused in both fixtures as Ghana won one and lost the other.

The others include Asante Kotoko defender Ismail Abdul Ganiu, Brentford winger Tariqe Fosu and Joseph Alfred Duncan who played part of Fiorentina’s 2-1 home defeat to Napoli in Serie A over the weekend.

“Twenty Seven players will open camp Tuesday morning to begin preparation for this month’s Match day three and Match day four FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers against Zimbabwe,” a GFA statement read.

“This follows the decision of the Technical team to excuse five players from the squad ahead of the qualifiers. They include, Ismail Abdul Ganiyu, Tariqe Fosu Henry, Joseph Alfred Duncan, Mubarak Wakaso and Emmanuel Gyasi.

“The team is expected to travel to Cape Coast on Tuesday morning – where they will begin training in the evening for the first game on Saturday.

“Meanwhile, England based right back Andrew Kyereh Yiadom who plays for Reading FC is currently being assessed after picking up a knock on Saturday during a Championship game against Cardiff City and got replaced by Jahmari Clarke in the 80th minute.

“Coach Milovan Rajevac and his men are seeking to get back to winning ways following the one nil loss to South Africa in the second Group G game. The Black Stars who began the World Cup qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win over Ethiopia on match day one, sit second in Group G with three points after two round of matches.

“Ghana is scheduled to play the Warriors of Zimbabwe in a double header with the 1st leg set for the Cape Coast stadium on Saturday, October 9, 2021,” the statement added.

Ghana’s 27-man squad:

Goalkeepers

Lawrence Ati- Zigi (FC St. Gallen), Richard Atta (Hearts of Oak), Ibrahim Danlad, (Asante Kotoko), Jojo Wallocott (Swindon Town)

Defenders:

Philemon Baffuor (Dreams FC), Andrew Yiadom (Reading FC), Gideon Mensah (Bordeaux), Baba Abdul Rahman (Reading FC), Daniel Amartey (Leicester City), Joseph Aidoo (Celta Vigo), Jonathan Mensah (Columbus Crew), Alexander Djiku (Strasbourg).

Midfielders:

Thomas Partey (Arsenal FC), Baba Idrissu (Real Mallorca), Emmanuel Lomotey (Amiens), Mohammed Kudus (Ajax Amsterdam), Majeed Ashimeru (RSC Anderlecht), Kofi Kyere (St. Pauli), Abdul Fatawu Issahaku (Steadfast FC).

Forwards:

Andre Ayew (Al Sadd SC), Kamaldeen Suleymana (Rennes), Joel Fameyeh (Orenburg), Yaw Yeboah (Wisła Kraków), Samuel Owusu (Al-Fayha FC), Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace), Caleb Ekuban (Genoa), Benjamin Tetteh (Yeni Malatyaspor)

Jordan Ayew must be assessed by his contributions & not only goals, says PRO

The Ayew family’s spokesperson has jumped to the defence of the underfire striker and insists he is having a wonderful season despite his lack of goals

The spokesperson for the Ayew family, Fiifi Tackie, has come to the defence of underfire Ghana striker Jordan Ayew following his poor goal scoring run.

Ayew has failed to score in his last 37 games for Crystal Palace and ten games for Ghana. The situation has raised a lot of concerns about his continuous starting role in the Black Stars setup.

However, his spokesperson believes that despite his failure to hit the back of the net, Ayew brings on board a lot of importance as his general contributions help both Crystal Palace and Ghana to achieve good results.

“Jordan Ayew is more of a team player than an individual player,” Fiif Tackie told Ohene Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM.

“Jordan doesn’t see anything wrong if he tries to assist than to score. I think we should also assess Jordan Ayew by his contribution on the pitch as we do to his goal scoring records.

“It is one of the reasons why Crystal Palace coach Patrick Vieira will continue to use him ahead of others in the team,” he added.

Ayew played only 57 minutes last weekend when Palace shared the spoils 2-2 against Leicester City at the Selhurst Park..

He was heavily criticised by former Arsenal captain Thierry Henry last week following his poor performance in the game against Brighton and Hove Albion where his missed chances proved costly.

Ayew has been named among Ghana’s 23 man squad that will play Zimbabwe in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers on October 9 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium and October 12 in the reverse fixture in Harare.

How Black Stars players called by Milovan Rajevac for World Cup qualifiers performed in Europe this weekend?

There were goals galore over the weekend by the Black Stars players including one from captain Andre Ayew, Baba Iddrisu, Jonathan Mensah, and Joel Fameyeh while Kamaldeen Sulemana also provided an assist in France

Ghanaian players got involved in action over the weekend just before the international break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. And, Milovan Rajevac’s 27 foreign-based Black Stars players were involved in action for their clubs.

Ghana is set to play a double header against Zimbabwe in 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers during the international break and a lot of the players named in the Black Stars squad by new coach Milovan Rajevac were outstanding for their respective clubs.

Some of them scored goals while others provided assists for their teammates to score as well as others making incredible saves and clearances to prevent their teams from conceding.

GOALKEEPERS:

Switzerland based goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi was in action for St Gallen when they suffered a 5-2 defeat in the hands of Grasshoppers in the Swiss Super League.

Despite making some incredible saves, things don’t look well for his club. The 24-year-old has now conceded 14 goals in his last four outings for Gallen.

In the English League Two, newly-invited goalkeeper Jojo Wollacot played the full throttle for Swindon Town when they recorded a 3-1 away win over Bristol Rovers. The youngster who was given a surprise invitation by Milovan Rajevac could not keep a clean sheet but he was for his side.

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Attah was also in action when the Phobians defeated Tema Youth 4-2 in a friendly game ahead of their Caf Champions League clash with Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club on October 22. Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko youngster Danlad Ibrahim could not play a game since his side just began their pre-season for the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League campaign.

DEFENDERS

Reading defender Baba Rahman lasted the entire duration but Andy Yiadom played 79 minutes in their 1-0 away win over Cardiff City. The duo had an impressive game for Reading who are trying to win qualification back to the Premier League next season.

Also in England, Daniel Amartey was an unused substitute when Leicester City gave up a 2-0 lead to share the spoils 2-2 with Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park on Sunday.

Elsewhere in France, former WAFA left-back Gideon Mensah, who hails from Dunkwa-Mfuom was a second half substitute for Bordeaux in their 3-0 defeat to Lyon. Centre-back Alexander Djiku played full throttle for Strasbourg in their 1-1 away draw with Montpellier also in Ligue 1.

However, former Inter Allies defender Joseph Aidoo was an unused substitute as Celta Vigo narrowly lost to Elche in La Liga.

In the United States, Jonathan Mensah was on target as his goal made sure that Columbus Crew were crowned champions of NORTH & CENTRAL AMERICA: Campeones Cup – Final with a 2-0 defeat over Cruz Azul from Mexico.

MIDFIELDERS:

Crystal Palace rallied from two goals down to share the spoils 2-2 with Leicester City and it was substitute Jeffrey Schlupp who got the equaliser for Palace. The midfielder was making his first appearance after picking up a hamstring injury while playing for Ghana against Ethiopia in the World Cup qualifiers last month.

Arsenal also drew goalless with 0-0 Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday and Thomas Partey lasted the entire duration for the Gunners.

Alfred Duncan played 76 minutes for Fiorentina in their 2-1 home defeat to rejuvenated Napoli at home while Iddrisu Baba Mohammed scored the match winner for Real Mallorca in their 1-0 home win over Levante in the La Liga on Saturday.

However, there was no Emmanuel Lomotey in the Amiens squad when they shared the spoils goalless at home with Toulouse and Kudus Mohammed also was an unused substitute as Ajax Amsterdam surprisingly lost 1-0 to FC Utrecht in the Eredivise on Sunday.

Majeed Ashimeru played ONLY seven minutes for Anderlecht when they drew 1-1 with Club Brugge who had Kamal Sowah scoring for them. Unfortunately, Sowah wasn’t called for the World Cup qualifiers. New boy Daniel-Kofi Kyereh provided an assist for St Pauli when they stunned Dynamo Dresden 3-0 in Bundasliga II but there was no action for Wakaso Mubarak since the Chinese Super League is yet to kick off. As a result, he was spotted in a stadium watching a football game.

FORWARDS:

It was all about new sensation Kamaldeen Sulemana in Ligue 1 when Stade Rennes shocked PSG with a 2-0 win. Despite PSG parading Lionel Messi, Kaylian Mbappe, Did Maria and Neymar Jr, Sulemana was the star performer as he provided one assist and consistently tormented the PSG defence on Sunday.

Ghana captain Andre Ayew scored his fourth goal in a row for Al-Sadd when they thumped Al Arabi 4-0 in the Qatari Star League. Ayew’s goal was from the penalty spot.

Former Asokwa Deportivo striker Joel Fameyeh scored his ninth goal of the season for Orenburg in the Russian second-tier league after only 13 games. Emmanuel Gyasi played the full minutes for Spezia Calcio and even captained the team but they suffered a 4-0 defeat in the hands of Chievo Verona in Serie A.

Meanwhile, Yaw Yeboah lasted 86 minutes for Wisla Krakow who lost 1-0 at Piast Gliwice while Jordan Ayew played only 56 minutes in Crystal Palace’s 2-2 home draw with Leicester City. Samuel Owusu played 56 minutes for Al Feiha as they lost 2-1 to Al-Shabab and Caleb Ekuban also played 35 minutes for Genoa who were beaten 1-0 by Salernitana.

Lanky striker Benjamin Tetteh who has been handed his first call up to the Black Stars in almost two years could not score but played 90 minutes when Yeni Malatyaspor suffered 2-0 home loss to Hatayspor in the Turkish Super Lig.

Ghana’s Kamaldeen Sulemana helps Rennes to shock Messi, Neymar & Mbappe’s PSG in Ligue 1

The youngster had a wonderful game against the star-studded side on Sunday after as they picked a famous win

Ghana midfielder Kamaldeen Sulemana was in action when Stade Rennes defeated PSG 2-0 in French Ligue 1 on Sunday.

The 19-year-old was a second half substitute in the Uefa Conference League midweek and because of his goal and overall performance, Rennes coach decided to start him against PSG.

Kamaldeen didn’t disappoint as started to torment PSG’s defence with his surging runs and passes.

On the blink of half time, Kamaldeen set up the first goal of the day. The Ghanaian youngster went pass his marker and provided an assist to French forward Gaetan Laborde who didn’t waste time to finish it off.

After the break, Sulemana combined with Laborde in search of another goal but the PSG defence were resolute this time and dealt with the danger.

He was again played through minutes later but PSG goalkeeper Gigi Donnarumma saved his last ditch effort.

Flavien Tait was fortunate as he found an opening to put Rennes 2-0 up with a fine finish.

Although, Camavinga left Rennes to join Spanish giants Real Madrid last month, Sulemana’s presence seems to have filled the void left behind by the French international.

Sulemana after his heroic display is expected to heard to Ghana as the Black Stars prepare to face Zimbabwe in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana will host Zimbabwe on October 9 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium before they travel to Harare for the return fixture on October 12.

Betting Odds for Sunday games across Europe; simple way of making money

With the last round of matches to be played today before the various leagues go on halt for international break, AshesGyamera.com predicts the outcome of games to be played on Sunday.

In the Premier League, Liverpool will welcome champions Manchester City to Anfield in a make or break encounter. A win is imminent for both sides but Liverpool may pull a surprise against the run of play.

There are at least two goals expected to rain this afternoon when West Ham host Brentford who held Liverpool to a 3-3 stalemate last weekend, while Tottenham Hotspur will hope to recover from their slumber.

After winning their opening three games, Tottenham have surprisingly fallen short of what everyone expected of them. They are winless in their last three games and today provides a better opportunity for them to show reactions.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid after their shocking defeat to minnows Sheriff Tiraspol in the UEFA Champions League will be hoping to make a statement that they still have their mojo when they face Espanyol away.

Elsewhere in France, Messi, Kaylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr are expected to come to the party when PSG face Stade Rennes in Ligue 1 biggest game of the weekend. Ghanaian midfielder Kamaldeen Sulemana has also promised to punish PSG despite their star-studded squad.

Kotoko’s Richard Boadu reveals ambitions for the club & reasons behind No.6 jersey

The midfielder joined the Porcupine Warriors from Yellow and Mauve and has assured the club’s supporters of his readiness to help them win trophies

Asante Kotoko new midfielder Richard Boadu ‘Agadas’ has heaped praise on the club’s supporters after sealing his much-anticipated three-year move from Medeama a fortnight ago.

The 26-year-old has also assured them of an improved performance under new coach Prosper Ogum Narteh as Kotoko prepare in their bid to win Ghana Premier League title this season.

“I thank them for following me till now. Not every player will get this opportunity, waiting for my signature since last season. I thank them a lot,” Boadu told the club’s media.

“I have watched Kotoko several times and I know what is inside Kotoko and I’m proud to wear a Kotoko jersey. It’s a dream come through.

“I will continue to perform well as I did at the former club that impressed them to come for me. Maybe, it might be more than the previous one. I will put all my strength in the team,” he added.

Boadu also shed light on why he chose to wear the iconic number six jersey at Kotoko amid several options available.

“I was spotted for playing the number 2 position during my young stage as a footballer and I was groomed by my colts coach. One day, he asked me to play the number six position (holding midfield role) in the absence of the player who was supposed to be in that position.

“I took on jersey number six and I had a tremendous performance on that day. Since then, whenever I put on that jersey number 6, I always perform good but before that, I was wearing jersey number 14.

“There is some spirit in the jersey number 6 that helps me to perform well. Many may ask ‘do we have some particular jersey number that helps one to perform?’

“I always pray for favour from God upon that jersey. I can sometimes play whilst I feel like it is not me. There is some spirit in jersey number 6,” he concluded in the interview.

Boadu joined Samuel Appiah, Richmond Lamptey, Maxwell Agyemang, Clinton Opoku and Stephen Boateng as new signings at Kotoko. Berekum Chelsea captain Stephen Amankonah is also expected to be unveiled in the coming days.

Kotoko will begin the 2021/22 campaign with an away trip to Dawu to face Dreams FC before they host Bechem United in their first game at home at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. They have been billed to lock horns with Hearts of Oak on matchday seven.
