Kotoko midfielder Richard Boadu voted Fans’ Player of the Year at Medeama

The box-to-box midfielder has been adjudged as the best-performing player in the Premier League by the Yellow and Mauve supporters

Asante Kotoko new midfielder Richard Boadu ‘Agadas’ has been announced as the winner of 2020-21 Premier League Medeama Fans’ Player of the Year.

The 26-year-old, who played last season with Medeama was seen as the stand-out performer for the Yellow and Mauve in the campaign, winning several duels and protecting the club from conceding several goals.

Boadu’s effort was, however, not enough to help the Medeama win the league title nor finish within the Top Four after they ended in five place behind winners Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, WAFA and Berekum Chelsea.

Fans have, however, appreciated the midfielder’s impressive showings and overwhelmingly voted him as their best-performing player of the campaign although he has even left the club to join Asante Kotoko.

He was part of the Porcupine Warriors squad that toured Dubai for their pre-season ahead of the start of the new season.

Meanwhile, there were other winners on the night including Goal of the Season and Striker of the Season.

Video: Thomas Partey makes history as first Ghanaian to score Premier League goal for Arsenal

The Ghanaian midfielder scored his debut goal of his Gunners career at the Emirates Stadium on Friday

Ghana midfielder Thomas Teye Partey scores his debut goal for Arsenal in their 3-1 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Friday.

The 28-year-old, who joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid last season, broke his duck by the 23rd minute after rising above his marker to head home a cross from Smith-Rowe.

The goal means that Partey has become the first Ghanaian to ever score a goal for Arsenal in a Premier League game.

Pierre Emerrick Aubameyang had the opportunity to make it 2-0 on the stroke of half time from the penalty spot but the Arsenal captain fluffed the opportunity. However, he was fortunate to tap in the rebound after his effort was saved.

After the break, Smith-Rowe made it 3-0 by the 56th minute with a cool finish after he combined with Aubameyang.

Jacob Ramsey pulled one back for Villa by the 82nd minute but it was too little too late to stage a comeback.

Partey lasted the entire duration and had 75 touches throughout the game. He had 82.7 per cent passing accuracy, three tackles and two clearances.

Also, the former Inter Allies midfielder won four ground duels out of ten as well as three aerial duels out of four.

“I am not the difficult child in Black Queens,” – Elizabeth Addo hits back at critics

The Black Queens skipper has fired back at critics who suggest she is the mole among the players and has constantly been inciting others against authorities

Ghana female national team, Black Queens, captain Elizabeth Addo popularly known as ‘Ama Pele’ has launched a rebuttal at her critics who have been constantly spreading falsehood.

The skillful midfielder was not named in Ghana’s squad that played the Aisha Buhari Tournament last month and did not also make it in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Nigeria last month.

Following to the snub, a lot of commentaries have been flying around including one from Madam Rosalind Amoh on GTV Sports+ Studio 5 show where Addo was labeled as a difficult child.

This did not go done well with the player and she took to her official Twitter page to reply in equal measure. She insisted that she isn’t the difficult child but one who wants the betterment of her country.

“On Wednesday 20th, on GtvSports+ Rosalind Amoh on Studio 5 tagged me as “the difficult child” of the Black Queens n I find dat very unpleasant n distasteful since everyting I’ve fought 4 is 4 the good of de team. Just cuz I refused 2 be manipulated doesn’t warrant u 2 place tags on me,” she wrote.

Ghana will face Nigeria next two weeks in the qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium but reports suggest that a lot of the players want head coach Mercy Tagoe sacked due to several reasons.

Asante Kotoko 1-1 Laliga Academy; Porcupine Warriors record ZERO victory in tour to Dubai

The Porcupine Warriors failed to record a win in any of their games played as part of their tour of Dubai

Asante Kotoko shared the spoils 1-1 in their last pre-season game in Dubai against Laliga Academy at the Dubai Sports City on Thursday evening.

After losing to Al Hilal United and drawing 1-1 with Liwa FC, Kotoko came into this game with only one purpose. The Porcupine Warriors were seriously wishing for a win to wrap up their tour to the Gulf region on a higher note but things didn’t go as planned.

Although, midfielder Mudasiru Salifu gave Kotoko a lead through a fine finish in the first half, Laliga Academy pulled even after the break.

The lower division side canceled out Mudasiru’s effort from the spot after they were handed a penalty.

Kotoko goalkeeper Kwame Baah, who was playing his first game in the training tour, brought down a Laliga Academy player and the referee didn’t hesitate to point to the spot.

Baah was sent to turn wrong direction in the resulting kick. Although coach Prosper Ogum Narteh made some changes and pushed his men forward in search of the winner, Laliga Academy defence were resolute at the back and held on to prevent Kotoko from getting an opening.

Kotoko are expected to return to Ghana on Friday and continue with their preparations towards the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.

The will play their opening game of the season against Dreams FC in an away fixture. It is uncertain where that game will he held since Ghana FA’s club licensing committee has rejected the Theater of Dreams in Dawu  which happens to be the home venue of Dreams FC.

Kotoko’s first home game will be against Bechem United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Ghana’s Gilbert Koomson features as Bodo/Glimt whip Mourinho’s AS Roma 6-1 in Uefa Conference League

The Ghanaian came on as a second half substitute as The Norwegian side made history over the Italian giants

Ghanaian forward Gilbert Koomson helped Nowergian giants Bodo/Glimt to thrash AS Roma 6-1 in the UEFA Conference League at the On Thursday.

The former SK Brann hitman came from the bench very late in the game after the damage had already been down on the Italian side as Jose Mourinho was spotted having nightmares in the dugout.

Erik Botheim opened the scoring by the eight minute after latching onto an assist from S. B. Fet. The Norwegian giants doubled their lead twelve minutes later through Patrick Berg.

Although, Roma halved the deficit through Carles Perez on the 28th minute, little did they know that their ambitions to equalise were going to be shattered in a fashionable style.

Botheim combined with Alfons Sampsted to score his second of the day to send Bodo/Gimit’s 3-1 up against the run of play before Ola Solbakken added the fourth goal by the 71st minute.

Things moved from bad to worse when San Pellegrino capitalised on a defensive blunder to make it 5-1 as Mourinho couldn’t believe his eyes.

Botehim capped his wonderful performance of the day with another goal to record his first ever hat-trick in a Uefa inter-club competition.

The striker was played through by Pellegrino and he kept his cool to send a low drive past onrushing goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

Koomson was brought on by the 88th minute to replace Ola Solbakken and the Ghanaian nearly assisted another goal.

Bodo/Glimt have currently gone up in Group C with seven points after the win, one point above Roma.

The two clubs are scheduled to meet once again in two weeks time in Rome.

Breaking News: Ethiopia quits Kenya; set to host Ghana at Orlando Stadium

The Walias Antelopes will now host the Black Stars in the penultimate Fifa World Cup qualifying game in Johannesburg

Ethiopia have snubbed their earlier decision to host Ghana in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers at the Nyayo International Sports Stadium in Kenya and will now play the Black Stars at the Orlando Sports Stadium in Johannesburg, AshesGyamera.com understands.

Although, the Ethiopia Football Federation wrote to Kenya Football Federation requesting their approval to use the Nyayo International Sports Stadium, they rescinded their plans and opted for South Africa in the eleventh hour.

The South Football Association reached an agreement with the Ethiopia Football Federation on Thursday and Ghana will now have to make change of plans as they will be heading to Johannesburg instead of Nairobi.

CAF notified Ethiopia that their favorite home ground Bahir Dar Stadium has been banned as a result of stadium non-approval to host international matches since it lacks a lot of things to help ensure COVID-19 protocols are followed to avoid the spread of the deadly disease. Therefore, a neutral venue was expected from them before the close of yesterday.

Caf sent a letter to Ethiopia Football Federation to submit a new venue for the game latest by October 20 so that Ghana can be duly notified. Although, initial reports suggested that the game will be held in Kenya, Ethiopia have chosen to host it in South Africa, an action many believe it is impregnated by several diabolic tactics.

CAF is now expected to officially confirm the venue so that it will guide the Black Stars in their preparations for the game scheduled for November 11.

With South Africa also in the group like Ghana, many people believe Ethiopia chose the venue to aid the Bafana Bafana as any results aside victory for the Black Stars will be an advantage for South Africa.

Meanwhile, South Africa will also host Zimbabwe at the Soccer City Sports Stadium in Johannesburg and they will hope Ghana will drop points before the final game.

Ghana defeated Ethiopia in the first leg at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in August and will be hoping to complete a double over them to keep the chase on Group G leaders South Africa.

The Black Stars will host South Africa in the final round of matches at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium to determine who will win the group and proceed to the next round of the qualifiers.

According to her, she is the one who said: “The number you’ve dialed cannot be reached at the moment. The mobile equipment is either switched off or out of coverage area.”

She also noted that she is the one behind, “You have one minute remaining” – the voice mobile phone users on MTN normally hear when they are running out of airtime.

This revelation has left many Ghanaians stunned because they probably held the assertion that the voice might have been recorded by a computer or by a foreigner.

To prove her point, Jessica repeated the famous words of the “MTN lady” who sometimes interrupts calls to inform callers of their credit balance. Many Ghanaians have taken to a number of social media platforms to react to the video and expressed their surprise over the revelation.

Veteran Ghanaian musician, Reggie Rockstone indicated that he never knew this about Jessica and gave her thumbs up.

The Porcupine Warriors chief insists that they are ready to challenge for the title this season following their tour to Dubai

Asante Kotoko director of communications David Obeng Nyarko has insisted that they are ready to make an impact in the upcoming season.

“We are hoping that our fans will also be ready and add their numbers and quota to us so we can get a perfect team to compete.”
