Abedi: Asante Kotoko will win Ghana Premier League title with Prosper Ogum

The Porcupine Warriors former striker is optimistic that his former side will lift the league title despite their slow start in pre-season

Former Asante Kotoko striker Abedi Sarfo believes the club will be crowned winners of 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.

The Porcupine Warriors have had a slow start in their pre-season training as they failed to win any of their three games played in Dubai.

Also, twelve players have left the club with thirteen players signed to replace them, while coach Prosper Ogum Narteh has replaced Mariano Baretto after they ended last season without a trophy.

The results coupled with the changes in squad have brought doubts about Kotoko’s future among a section of the supporters and football pundits but the former forward is optimistic things will be better with time.

“Asante Kotoko will win the league trophy next season,” Abedi Sarfo said in an interview with Super Obondede on Light FM’s Time with Super Show.

“They have allowed some players to leave but I think those that have come in are equally good. I know some of them and have watched their games too.

“Richard Boadu is a good player and he will add a lot of options to Kotoko’s midfield. The young players who have also arrived will be great additions with time.

“I will urge the supporters to have patience with the players. They will have tough times but with positive vibes, they will overcome every obstacle and win the league title at the end for them,” he added.

Kotoko will open their season with a trip to Dawu to face Dreams FC on matchday one before they host Bechem United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium a week later.

Their third game of the season will be against debutants Bibiani Gold Stars at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani.
