Abedi: Asante Kotoko will win Ghana Premier League title with Prosper Ogum
The Porcupine Warriors former striker is optimistic that his former side will lift the league title despite their slow start in pre-season
Former Asante Kotoko striker Abedi Sarfo believes the club will be crowned winners of 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
The Porcupine Warriors have had a slow start in their pre-season training as they failed to win any of their three games played in Dubai.
Also, twelve players have left the club with thirteen players signed to replace them, while coach Prosper Ogum Narteh has replaced Mariano Baretto after they ended last season without a trophy.
The results coupled with the changes in squad have brought doubts about Kotoko’s future among a section of the supporters and football pundits but the former forward is optimistic things will be better with time.
“Asante Kotoko will win the league trophy next season,” Abedi Sarfo said in an interview with Super Obondede on Light FM’s Time with Super Show.
“They have allowed some players to leave but I think those that have come in are equally good. I know some of them and have watched their games too.
“Richard Boadu is a good player and he will add a lot of options to Kotoko’s midfield. The young players who have also arrived will be great additions with time.
“I will urge the supporters to have patience with the players. They will have tough times but with positive vibes, they will overcome every obstacle and win the league title at the end for them,” he added.
Kotoko will open their season with a trip to Dawu to face Dreams FC on matchday one before they host Bechem United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium a week later.
Their third game of the season will be against debutants Bibiani Gold Stars at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani.

‘The difference between Asante Kotoko and others is huge,’ says Abedi Sarfo
The former striker insists that none of the local clubs can be likened to the
Porcupine Warriors in terms of numbers and influence
Former Ghana Premier League superstar Abedi Sarfo has insisted that Asante Kotoko is the biggest club in the country.
According to Sarfo, who also had stints Ashanti Gold and King Faisal during his heydays, Kotoko’s impact both on and off the pitch are so immense that players tend to benefit from it even after retiring.
“I played Ashanti Gold, King Faisal and other clubs but none of them can be compared to Asante Kotoko,” Sarfo said in an interview on Time with Super on Light FM.
“The fans, leadership and others make Kotoko to stand out among other Premier League clubs. I always feel proud representing this club because wherever I go, the fans of Kotoko treat me special and make me feel very important.
“I spent five years at Kotoko but it is as if I spent all my life with them. The impact of this great club can’t be compared to any club in the country.
“Can you imagine that when I joined King Faisal, we had to stay in road traffic after games for hours in Accra but at Kotoko, immediately they see our team bus, we will have our way through. Sometimes, motorcade will be ahead of us to pave but I never experienced this at Ashanti Gold or King Faisal,” he added.
Sarfo also believes Asante have the quality to win the upcoming Premier League title after their failure to live up to expectations last season.
“Asante Kotoko will win the league trophy next season,” he said.
Sarfo, who represented Ghana at the junior national team level, is now a football scout for Alpha Sports Management headed by UK based football agent Tony Appiah.

Kotoko midfielder Richard Boadu voted Fans’ Player of the Year at Medeama
The box-to-box midfielder has been adjudged as the best-performing player in the Premier League by the Yellow and Mauve supporters
Asante Kotoko new midfielder Richard Boadu ‘Agadas’ has been announced as the winner of 2020-21 Premier League Medeama Fans’ Player of the Year.
The 26-year-old, who played last season with Medeama was seen as the stand-out performer for the Yellow and Mauve in the campaign, winning several duels and protecting the club from conceding several goals.
Boadu’s effort was, however, not enough to help the Medeama win the league title nor finish within the Top Four after they ended in five place behind winners Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, WAFA and Berekum Chelsea.
Fans have, however, appreciated the midfielder’s impressive showings and overwhelmingly voted him as their best-performing player of the campaign although he has even left the club to join Asante Kotoko.
He was part of the Porcupine Warriors squad that toured Dubai for their pre-season ahead of the start of the new season.

The Ghanaian midfielder scored his debut goal of his Gunners career at the Emirates Stadium on Friday
Ghana midfielder Thomas Teye Partey scores his debut goal for Arsenal in their 3-1 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Friday.
The 28-year-old, who joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid last season, broke his duck by the 23rd minute after rising above his marker to head home a cross from Smith-Rowe.
The goal means that Partey has become the first Ghanaian to ever score a goal for Arsenal in a Premier League game.
Pierre Emerrick Aubameyang had the opportunity to make it 2-0 on the stroke of half time from the penalty spot but the Arsenal captain fluffed the opportunity. However, he was fortunate to tap in the rebound after his effort was saved.
After the break, Smith-Rowe made it 3-0 by the 56th minute with a cool finish after he combined with Aubameyang.
Jacob Ramsey pulled one back for Villa by the 82nd minute but it was too little too late to stage a comeback.
Partey lasted the entire duration and had 75 touches throughout the game. He had 82.7 per cent passing accuracy, three tackles and two clearances.
Also, the former Inter Allies midfielder won four ground duels out of ten as well as three aerial duels out of four.

“I am not the difficult child in Black Queens,” – Elizabeth Addo hits back at critics
The Black Queens skipper has fired back at critics who suggest she is the mole among the players and has constantly been inciting others against authorities
Ghana female national team, Black Queens, captain Elizabeth Addo popularly known as ‘Ama Pele’ has launched a rebuttal at her critics who have been constantly spreading falsehood.
The skillful midfielder was not named in Ghana’s squad that played the Aisha Buhari Tournament last month and did not also make it in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Nigeria last month.
Following to the snub, a lot of commentaries have been flying around including one from Madam Rosalind Amoh on GTV Sports+ Studio 5 show where Addo was labeled as a difficult child.
This did not go done well with the player and she took to her official Twitter page to reply in equal measure. She insisted that she isn’t the difficult child but one who wants the betterment of her country.
“On Wednesday 20th, on GtvSports+ Rosalind Amoh on Studio 5 tagged me as “the difficult child” of the Black Queens n I find dat very unpleasant n distasteful since everyting I’ve fought 4 is 4 the good of de team. Just cuz I refused 2 be manipulated doesn’t warrant u 2 place tags on me,” she wrote.
Ghana will face Nigeria next two weeks in the qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium but reports suggest that a lot of the players want head coach Mercy Tagoe sacked due to several reasons.
